I did not know Dan, but he must have been a very incredible man because he is clearly loved by so many on this thread. Agreeing in prayer for his family as he requested <3

Father, I don't fully understand the circumstances of all this, but you do, and I just ask you to move upon the hearts of Dan's sons and his grandfather and his family and heal the deepest hurts. Someone alluded to suicide, if that is the case, I speak against any guilt that the enemy would try to put upon his family or anyone that loved him or anyone that Dan loved. He would not have wanted that. The loss of his life was clearly tragic whatever the case as it left so many heartbroken, especially his family. Let them sense your presence Father, in the name of Jesus. Be their comfort in the big and the small. Nothing can fill the void of the loss of a loved one, but you can minister to the hurt and bring joy in some way. We thank you for that.

Help his sons and grandfather and family to remember every positive thing about their lives together, help them to recall even little things that they have forgotten, let them stumble across trinkets or pictures that are precious memories of Dan, bring ppl across their path that knew him and loved him and have wonderful stories about him, great respect for his service and great blessing from his friendship. Make every memory sweet, and multiply all the love and goodness that Dan gave when he was with them. Let them sense his heart, hug them and hold them and assure them as only you can do Father.

Holy Spirit move upon their heart and thoughts and emotions and be a healing balm to any hurt or any negative memory. Help them to grieve in your arms any time they feel a need to grieve, gather their tears, and give them the beauty for the ashes that Dan spoke of. Surround them with friends and ppl that love them, voices of wisdom to help them work thru the difficult things in life that they encounter.. voices of solid friends and mentors to rejoice with them at every triumph and good thing that you send. In the name of Jesus, we agree together for Dan's family. Bless them and keep them. We thank you and praise you Father, Son and Spirit. Amen <3

So I've been looking to volunteer this year. I did a volunteer thing for Kohls last weekend at a ballet studio. I steamed dresses and made head pieces with cheap fake flowers.

On Facebook I saw a post about this website and now I am thinking I might want to volunteer to do this.

That sounds like a great program, Michelle. You should do it. I'm going to look into it now too.

You all are so sweet. I will try to plan a short camping trip as you suggested and see how it goes. It's a great idea to tell my kids we are doing it as a gift to Katie and the boys.

We went to the beach yesterday (it's spring break here) and I couldn't help but think of them again and one beautiful day we spent on the Outer Banks. I don't know what it was about that day, but the guys had just returned from Afghanistan, the weather was perfect, everyone was happy. We barbequed and hung out on the beach. I remember watching Dan and his boys and all the fun they had running around, throwing the football and swimming in the ocean. He loved those kids so much. I know (almost) all parents love their kids, but Dan had such an extra strong bond w/his sons. He never wanted to be apart from them, and unfortunately he was a lot. When he posted all those things on here about how much he loved his boys and wanted to see them, it was 100% heartfelt and genuine. He was just very ill and couldn't be w/them toward the end. He wasn't a bad person.

I know Trent is very sick and heartbroken, as has been posted on another thread. Please just pray for him whenever you think of it, and please pray for Katie as well. I won't go into details but she needs it very badly. Thank you all for your continued love and support for this family that I care about so much.

Several days after Jesus was crucified, he returned to His disciples. They were besides themselves with grief and didn't know what to do. So Jesus returned to them and said:

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” (John 14:1-4)

This promise from our Lord that they would go to be with Jesus someday comforted them. We can also take great comfort from this. Because, as believers, we can look forward to the same thing. Dan has gone to be with the Lord and one day, we will do the same. We can look forward to that and to also being reunited with Dan. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

I'm so sorry. I will erase my posts if I need to. I know this was a special thread for the mature singles b/c Dan had bonded w/them his last few days here. I don't like for it to have to moved.

No need. You did nothing wrong. The only reason it was moved was so staff would not have to do a clean up. This is now in an appropriate forum.

I don't know that anyone in mature singles that was upset that a few married people made a few posts and answered some of out questions. So we would like this moved back to mature singles as that is its true home. Thanks

There was a staff decision to delete all of the posts by folks who were not mature singles. I overrode that decision and moved it here where all of the posts were allowed. This is where it needs to stay.

whew.. found you guys.. was looking in the old thread =)

I am new here, so I am treading lightly.. but looking at the content of the thread I can kinda understand the need to move it to a more suited area at this point. It has matured from a thread for friends to grieve and agree to honor Dan's wishes.. to a thread where we can engage more in that focus of prayer and memorial, rather than being singles focused. It's kinda like being in the altars or a church service.. and needing to move to a prayer room or a coffee shop to share your hearts without taking away from the main purpose of the sanctuary. I hope that doesn't sound insensitive and crass.. I know there is still alot of pain and grief involved.

I found you guys and I pray others find their way to this prayer room/coffee shop.. and I think it would be cool to maybe even come up with a name for this new place.. like Dan's Place or something that the ppl who knew him like and would make it more memorable to who he was. Any way.. I don't mean to start any waves.. as someone outside of all this, I think Dan would have wanted us all to figure this out and bring the focus back to his children and the ppl he loves.. Hugs to you all, no shame on anyone.. lets all just take a breath and continue these beautiful stories and memories of who he was.. I wish I had gotten to meet/chat with him. You were all very blessed to have had such an amazing friend <3

I am so blessed by all the love shown for Dan on this thread. Dan was a friend of mine on the Men's Corner for a number of years. I tend to stay there as far as my posting on CF.
I am sure Dan is enjoying heaven and the sorrows of this life are far behind. So now we have the task of loving one another. This world is rocky at best and those that know not Christ will not always be there for us. Let's be there for one another and help and pray for each other. One day before we know it we will be on the other side with our friend Dan.
God bless you all!
