Quiet frankly I am unsure what to do. I live with my parents and I cannot afford to move on my own what so ever. (Please read the whole thing before posting thanks)

Deuteronomy 18:9-12
“When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.

I know that trying to talk them out of it won't work. They just won't do it in front of me.

I have a bad feeling about this. Yes my family is christian, or so I thought. Is there a way I can exercise or at least protect my room from unwanted evil spirits? I have a really bad feeling about this.

Pray! My family was haunted for generations because of this type of thing. Haunted by things that'll turn a non believer into a devout Christian.... Dont let these things go on for too long.

Any suggestions? I am paranoid with a non-haunted house as it is already.

I am living with my mom who is lost, and the spiritual atmosphere here because of that is toxic. She is not particularly bad as people go, but it is simply that Satan owns her that he is able to bring oppression against me. My room is my sanctuary; the atmosphere in here is different although I am still feeling oppression. Even still I am able to have freedom in Christ here and it is the same for you.

We are not limited by the spiritual practices of others. Greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world. You shouldn't be afraid of evil spirits; have faith that God can and will protect. The word says He doesn't give us anymore than we can handle. You may feel oppression but with Gods strength you will be able to persevere. Ask God to surround you with His protection and cover your room. Claim the scripture which says "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty". Bathe the situation in prayer, and be praying for your parents to be delivered.

Wouldn't they listen if you showed them in the scripture why it is wrong?

Thanks! I have a weird question. If you can exercise demons out of people. Can someone exercise a deck of cards? I know this really, really sounds stupid. However trying to inert them might not be a bad idea.

Well, if all else seems unreasonable, as in your parents won't listen to reason about your fear of these cards, you could always take them and throw them in someone elses trash after you bag them up so they're hidden from view in that strangers rubbish can.

It isn't stealing. It is taking a tool of the devil out of your house and putting it where it belongs.
Though if you go that route it's best to do it without talking to your parents about the cards first. Otherwise they'll know you resorted to these actions.
Not that they won't confront you when the cards come up missing.

Or, you can write bible scriptures on the face of the cards and put the word of the lord upon the face of Satan. Even writing on just a few of the cards should get your parents attention.

These type things happen when the worldly carnal realm rules peoples hearts. May your parents come to Jesus.

They will say they are Christians all day. Putting their faith in the tarot cards instead of God. She also once took a green candle and said it will help us get money.

They are getting a circle going on. My aunt on my fathers side brought over some cards as well. So there are two different decks. Seems like the circle of people using tarot cards is slowly getting bigger.

I don't think throwing them away will help. I am positive she will get another deck. I guess I am going to have to convince them it's not cool with God.

I am going to try to find a way to make it so nothing evil can enter my room. I really don't feel like exercising an entire house which could take months.

Maybe ask them if they are Christian witches. I've heard of such things wherein people believe they can blend Christianity and witchcraft.

Watch for your own soul since you have no choice now but to live with your parents.

If they have a church they're members of why not place a call to the pastor and tell him what's going on and how scared you are.
He may be able to offer them council well beyond what you could. And they may listen.
God be with you.

I am not worried about my soul. I just don't want negative energy in our family. It's not just about me it's about the family as a whole. I will try to figure something out.

Also I think my father thinks Jesus was really an alien from outer space.

I need to pray.

Spirits can't come in, or assert power over us, or control us, unless we invite them in, ignorantly of course. They can't cause evil to befall you, they can't hurt you at all without getting close to you.

Diviners, mediums, sorcerers, etc receive power from the devil to open doors for him. it's a great wickedness done by the deceived.

Pray for your family and believe for yourself, that Christ rules and the devil is defeated. Say Psalm 23 when you fear. There is abundance of forgiveness with God. And I pray God sends angels into your home.

Your faith is enough.

Hi Peter,

I'm not really sure what Tarot cards are used for. I've only seen them in movies, but I thought they were used to predict the future or something, is that right? I'm just curious if you know much about what your parents are using these cards for. Are they really trying to summon demons? Or are they just collecting them out of hobby. Perhaps you could try to take a bit of interest in them (if you haven't already), and then try to work with them from there.

I believe that a lot can be accomplished if we try to find common ground with people of all beliefs, so that we can help them to come closer to Jesus. As long as you don't do anything to compromise on your own beliefs, what would be the harm in talking to them (and listening to them) about the tarot cards and their spiritual state? Maybe they're just looking for answers and they don't know where to find them.

Good luck with all this, by the way.

Hi PBF,

Be assured that God does not hold you responsible for anyone else's sin unless you caused someone else to sin. Yes, Jesus did say there was great woe for anyone who caused another to sin. God is interested in the heart of the individual. If your heart seeks after His righteousness, then be assured that He knows.

As best you are able, live a life that is holy to the Lord. Keep in mind that Jesus also warned those who would follow after him of these things also.

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn " 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-lawhttp://www.biblestudytools.com/matthew/10.html#cr-descriptionAnchor-34-- a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

God bless you.
In Christ, Tedhttp://www.biblestudytools.com/matthew/10.html#cr-descriptionAnchor-35

I don't believe in hauntings. I believe in demon possession and that's biblical. Hauntings are not.
Tarot?
I'm not superstitious. I believe that demons have many more sneaky and easy ways to come into our world and influence people than through a card game.
IF you believe they work, then the mind will tell you that they work.

As a Christian, you have the authority to drive out any demons that take up residence in your family's home due to your parent's destructive new "pastime." I am currently reading The Bondage Breaker by Neil T. Anderson and I highly recommend it for the situation you are in. You need to protect yourself and your home. Demons can still harm Christians if we don't understand their tactics and recognize their methods of attack. They are crafty and they know our weaknesses by observing us. After reading this book, you may find yourself cleansing your home on a regular basis using the authority granted to you through Jesus Christ. Keep in mind you will have to say prayers out loud (demons can't read your mind). Hopefully your parents will get the drift once you start saying prayers throughout your home on a regular basis!!!

I don't believe that you can cleanse your parent's cards. It is their actions and intent that will attract demons (and ghosts/shadows are a type of demon). I'm so sorry you are going through this. Sending prayers to you and your parents.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.:prayer:

you have not yet "realized" your authority in Our Lord JESUS .. but first and for-most ..just spend time with the lord .. tell him everything on your heart and pray for your parents that the lord will save them and then Love them and be obedient and respectful in so much as you do not sin .
-and fellowship with other true believers ..as often as you can :).. dont deal with this in the flesh ..

again .. be obedient and respectful in so much as you do not sin .
your love for the lord and for them will speak over and above any argument .
let how you live your life be your testimony .
be loving , be respectful ,be obedient (in so much as you do not sin) honor your mother and your father .

{note : to honor ones parents one need only live their life in a manner that does not bring shame to them . }

greater is he that is IN YOU then he that is in the world - trust in the lord JESUS :)

In regard to the scripture verse you posted - Keep in mind that it is not your responsibility to save your parents or to make sure that they toe the line according to Biblical standards. It is only your job to make sure that you honor your parents, and that you provide them with a Godly example through your own behavior. And, of course, you should also be praying for them.

As for keeping yourself safe, yes, there are ways to be protected and even to flourish in the midst of spiritual darkness. Prayer and keeping yourself Christ-focused is a good start.

NO! Absolutely DO NOT do this! Taking your parents' belongings out of their home and chucking them in the trash or defacing them is INCREDIBLY disrespectful to them. It also puts you in the position of passing judgement on your parents. Your parents are not your children. It is not your place to make sure they are toeing the line, nor to keep them from evil influences. Your job is to honor your parents, not to protect your parents.

Additionally, doing something like this would be a huge violation of their trust in you. They can just as easily go out and buy new cards, but they will likely hide them from you the next time around so that their belongings are not taken and trashed... Which then leads to deception, because they now feel like they have to lock things up and hide things from you. That creates a whole new problem that you don't need.

No, it is not a stupid question ;but I see no point in trying. Not every occult object is actively "possessed" or necessarily has a spirit attached to it. If your parents' cards have a spirit (or spirits) on them, and you cast that out, then logically they will notice a difference when using them. That, in turn, could prompt a few different sorts of reactions from them; but there is no way to predict whether it would turn out positively or negatively. The bottom line is that they are going to do what they want to do whether you approve of it or not, and the absolute best thing that you can do for their well-being is to pray for them.

Also, you seem at the moment to be primarily concerned with protecting yourself from any bad influences that are being brought into the house through no fault of your own, yes? Messing with them could open you up to attack that would not otherwise come your way.

Been there done that years ago. Annoint the box whatever that the cards are in with anointing oil and pray over them until you can get rid of them. Pray for the Lord's protection and to seal your home and you from demonic attacks. Those cards give demons legal ground/doorway into that home which can oppress. Our God is merciful and will give you grace if you are unable to leave.

At least they respect you enough to not do it in front of you.
Ask them to inform you when they're going to use them and then leave the house.

If you believe these pieces of paper have power, they do. Your parents think they have power and that is what bothers you. Don't compound the issue by believing in the tarot in your own way.

They're meaningless. No more informative than the Rorschach cards as pertains to predicting the future.

People who need cards to tell them their future are too weak to carve out their own.

Save your money, get a job, and get out of the house. Or, see if you can move in with a friend on a roommate basis.

Maybe if your parents see what their Tarot cost them in the loss of their child under their roof they'll wake up. If they don't that is not your responsibility. YOU are your responsibility when in the midst of evil. Save yourself.

Quiet frankly I am unsure what to do. I live with my parents and I cannot afford to move on my own what so ever. (Please read the whole thing before posting thanks)

And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
