I was talking with someone and they went on about eating Ham on Easter is disrespectful to Jesus as it is eating an unclean animal in his name and went on and on. I thought Ham was the popular choice for Easter as that is all I grew up seeing on Easter other than Turkey/Chicken, but more people I have talked to said they eat lamb for Easter as it makes more sense since Jesus was the Passover Lamb.

So for the folks in GT...

What do you observe, Passover, Easter, or both?

Do you serve Lamb or Ham?

Do they have a meaning to you, or is it just food?

I do not really "Observe" either, as such. I mean we do not have any big get together just for the fact that it is Easter, but I would say that I observe Easter as that is what I say when that time comes around not "happy passover".

We have a huge potluck after the Agape Vespers (we've had our Paschal liturgy 11:30pm to 2:30am) Pascha afternoon. We have ham, beef, lamb, chicken (every meat you can think of basically). I had never had lamb before I became Orthodox and now I love it. Luckily we do have quite a few Greeks that cook awesome lamb (you can't overcook it because then it is like rubber). We have Orthodox of every ethnicity too, so we always have kulich (an easter bread that is awesome) and Pascha, an easter cheese (that as one of my former priests with a Russian MIL used to say has every dairy product known to man in it).

I grew up Jewish and never knew anyone who ate lamb for Passover. They eat chicken or roast or something, but not lamb.

Yes, that's an important note. The lamb that used to be eaten by the Jewish people was the lamb that was sacrificed in the context of temple worship. Without the temple, there's no sacrifice; without sacrifice, there's no particular significance for the lamb.

Also, kosher chicken is delicious and I always enjoy going over to my friend's house for Shabbat because his wife is an amazing cook.
