And this goes way back to Moses in Deuteronomy 7

6 “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.

7 The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;

8 but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

That is why, what God has chosen to bless, forgive and save and justify in His sight, none can undo.

There was none so great as Moses who was faithful in Gods house, the Lord met with Moses frequently to teach Moses His ways. Those who spoke against Moses, God saw to it personally that they were rebuked, punished or destroyed.

It was His love and His oath sworn to Abraham, as God can not lie, He swore He would perform what He promised and He still does today, being the same yesterday, today and forever.

See if you can fill in the other 'loves' for why He chose to do what He did.

Where is there any mention of being elected for salvation in this verse?

There was none so great as Moses who was faithful in Gods house, the Lord met with Moses frequently to teach Moses His ways. Those who spoke against Moses, God saw to it personally that they were rebuked, punished or destroyed.
And even Moses himself didn't enter the promised land. Why? For unbelief.

Numbers 27:12
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up to this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel.
Numbers 27:13
“When you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was;
Numbers 27:14
for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My command to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

Deuteronomy 32:48
The LORD spoke to Moses that very same day, saying,
Deuteronomy 32:49
“Go up to this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, and look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel for a possession.
Deuteronomy 32:50
“Then die on the mountain where you ascend, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people,
Deuteronomy 32:51
because you broke faith with Me in the midst of the sons of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the sons of Israel.
Deuteronomy 32:52
“For you shall see the land at a distance, but you shall not go there, into the land which I am giving the sons of Israel.”

Fulfilling Heb 3:16-19 -
Hebrews 3:16
For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses?
Hebrews 3:17
And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
Hebrews 3:18
And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
Hebrews 3:19
So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

Read further in Deut.:

Deut. 7: 9… the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations… 11 You shall therefore be careful to do the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command you this day.

We know most of these same people did not keep God’s commands.

Has God rejected His people whom He foreknew?

They could not enter into God's promises because of unbelief, but their children did believe and enter into the promised land.
That generation only a few persons (adults) was God pleased with all the rest they died in the wilderness, but not their children. They claimed Moses and the Lord had taken them into the wilderness to destroy them. Those people had no faith, without faith it is impossible to please God. God specifically told them they would not enter the promised land but their children whom they claimed were to be prey and killed, God told them would enter.

Romans 9 10 11 goes into this
Has God rejected His people whom He foreknew?
No He has not.
Not all Israel are of Israel because, not all Israel's children are the children of the promise.
The ones who had no faith, who had unbelief, were not of Israel.
They were Israel after the flesh, but not after the Spirit.

6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, 7 nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.”

8 That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed.

9 For this is the word of promise: “At this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son.”[c]

10 And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac 11 (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), 12 it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.”[d] 13 As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”[e]

So has God rejected His people whom He foreknew?
No God has not. Everyone of God's people entered into God's rest, entered into God's promises. The ones who had unbelief were children of the flesh.
Not God's children BECAUSE of v10

10 And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac 11 (for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls),

The children of God's promise are the seed. If you understand this then you have Godly wisdom.

Has God rejected His people whom He foreknew?
Yes some, but you have to understand “foreknew” is not the same as “foreordained”. God knows all the future free will choices made in the future like we know the historical free will choices we have made.

Jer. 18: 7 If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, 8 and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. 9 And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, 10 and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.

The verses you quotes in Duet 7: 6-8 are talking to the same group in verses 9 and 11, so they are being warned.
So has God rejected His people whom He foreknew?
No God has not. Everyone of God's people entered into God's rest, entered into God's promises. The ones who had unbelief were children of the flesh.

You have to keep in mind Jer. 18.

God’s elect are those that follow God after the Spirit, but it is up to them to wimp out and give up (surrender)

The Israelites were not elected unto salvation. What is your point?

Galatians 3:7
Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.
