The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Thank you Jesus for Raspberry Ice Cream. it's yummy! Amen.
Hot irons only turn that sinfully delicious substance into a drinkable form. That way I can use just a glass instead of a spoon and bowl (when I use one. I eat mine right out of the carton).

The way one does a root beer float is -

half glass of root beer
big scoop of vanilla ice cream
stir till melted
add one more big scoop of vanilla ice cream
finish with root beer to bubble slightly over the top

Can you tell I like hot August days?

My those were the days of being a paperboy on a heavy bicycle. Averaged 50 or so papers a day on a 10 mile or so route.

Hmmmmm .... I'm not that big on root beer, and never buy vanilla ice cream, but with that description, I just might have to try when the weather gets hot. :yum:

One can have a soda float by changing the soda and ice cream to suit their own tastes. I merely described the traditional root beer ice cream float. I like a half sprite/coke soda. That's kinda close to a German Bavarian flavor called spatice (spelling). I really miss it.

The raspberries must be organic and the cows that produced the cream and milk should be humanely pasture raised without anti-biotics and the sugar should be non-GMO. Ideally, the ice cream should be freshly homemade and if chocolate sauce is used, it should be made from fair trade chocolate.

Root beer float doesn't sound bad though.

I admit, I used to make a drink with half Sprite, half juice, and fruit sherbet. Most yummy - I need to start doing that again!

I wonder if there is a combination that would taste good with cinnamon ... ?

Just before I opened your reply I had an idea of coffee, lol.

Hmmmm ..... Coffee with chocolate ice cream dusted with cinnamon sugar? Maybe over the top.

I'm thinking butter pecan ice cream would be good with cinnamon sugar, and that might suit coffee.

Tea with ice cream - I never thought of it. Then again, I am not from any tradition that adds milk or cream to tea. I take mine with sugar over ice - good old fashioned Southern sweet iced tea! Then nectar of angels - or it should be! ;)

My only thought about raspberry ice cream is it should taste like raspberries.

I prefer chocolate myself, but my understanding of God's intent is that all things should be what they are - not imitate something else.

This includes Christians.

To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. (1 Corinthians 9:20-23)

Raspberry Ice Cream is Raspberry ice cream even if its called sorbet .

Mr. Collum, I concede your point.

Just to be clear, I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I certainly do not advocate inflexibility nor unwillingness to learn.

My thought is that everyone has personal strengths and weaknesses and I should not endeavor to be 'another Paul'; even if I emulate him in some regards. Nor should I try to be another Billy Graham.

God has stuff for us all to do, being who we are.

My local ice cream shop has a flavor called Southern Blackberry Cobbler by Blue Bell. It's rich vanilla with veins of blackberry preserves and chunks of baked pie dough.

Yeah. It's amazing.

I think it's ok to enjoy our food, as long as it doesn't make us greedy or we are not trusting in our riches to provide us comfort. :)

Luke 9:23-24
Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.

John 12:25
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

How can you say you hate your life in this world and enjoy yourself with things in this world? That's an oxymoron.

Because if you really hated material things, or let's drop the "hate" word, let's just say material things are of no value to you (John 6:63). Why don't give it away to those whose survival may depend on it? Like the poor (Luke 12:33)? Why not give so generously that you end up with very few things to yourself. I'm not saying we quit our jobs. What I"m saying why not live like a Janitor, having only a small cheap apartment, cheap used car, few cheap things, even if we're a CEO in a huge multinational company? So you can give more to God's Kingdom? To save a lot of kids from starvation as one example?

Do we put ourselves first before others? Allow evil to gain a foothold in this world with impunity? Do we really hate ourselves if put ourselves ahead of others? Did Jesus or any of His disciples put their welfare ahead of others?

How do you know I don't live like a janitor? ;) How do you know I'm not one of the poor?

We judge ourselves, not someone else.

Just because I say I would enjoy raspberry ice cream with chocolate sauce? I don't have any raspberry ice cream, just so you know, and never actually tried any. It sounded good though.

Do you really not ever eat anything you enjoy? Would you have us all eat gruel and porridge all day? Do you think one is going to hell if one does eat ice cream? Or if one jokes about ice cream (as I was actually doing)?

it's important to recognize who we are . i was reminded of another dimension of the teachings that in our weakness we can be strong by Jesus through us . so in that our weaknesses in the passage of time .. become more exceptional than our previous strengths .. then it's not over .. we look at our weaknesses .. our newly discovered weaknesses .. that we thought were our strengths .. and begin the process with God all over again .
