Leaving the group

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say thanks to those who helped me along the way. For those of you who don't know I have been a catechumen for almost two months now and it is going great. That being said, I have decided to leave this group for good as I am not a fan of the direction it is taking and it has become a negative source of temptation and frustration. I will continue to participate in discussions over at orthodoxchristianity.net under the same name, so if you feel so inclined you can look me up there.

pray for me, a sinner.

Will miss you and glad for the positive/insightful lessons you shared in your journey and what you've learned. Wishing you the best - and glad you're at the other site you mentioned, as they're one of the best

I'm a little confused here, Seeker? What is the negative direction TAW has taken? I'm not understanding your reasoning for leaving. Most of the posters with whom I talk here on TAW are fairly edifying to me. I have learned a lot here. And I don't see the negative direction? Perhaps you could IM me and explain? In any case, sorry you felt the need to leave us. God bless you and your journey.....

This will be my last word here as I am not interested in arguing, but I thought it only fair to answer your confusion. The very things you find so edifying might be the very things that have driven me to leave. In fact, one of the recommendations I would give to individuals interested in Orthodoxy is to stay away from internet Orthodox forums and rely instead on sources like Orthodox seminary publications and works written by stand-up Orthodox writers like Fr. John Behr, Fr. McGuckin, Fr. Andrew Louth, etc. I have found the Brits especially wonderful as you can see. By spending my time in these sources, prayer, and parish activities I have found more solace and edification. That being said, I am very grateful for all that you have done for me. Some of you have been very helpful and inspiring to me along my way but the general attitudes and directions of conversations over the past few months has soured TAW for me.

Well I assume you're talking about the whole evolution thing that has been hashed over a lot in here or possibly the language precision and manipulation talks we've had. I could be wrong. I'm sorry if your discussions made you ill at ease. I'm sorry we ran you away. I felt you had been a pretty good friend on here. I will miss your presence. God bless your journey. It's more important that you enter into Holy Orthodoxy than be a TAW member, but I hope you'll consider returning sometime. We can learn from you, and I think you can open your heart and learn from some of us as well.

God bless your walk! At least update us when the chrismation takes place!

Yeah, sometimes some other people advocate to take us in directions I think totally wrong.
But I have no place in particular to go, and at least here I can get some kind of human feedback in English from people trying to live the Orthodox life.

Hate to see you leaving Seeker but if you have to we understand maybe later on when the your faith search will be over you could come back to TAW
