IMO...
I don't disagree with most of your post but I do disagree with the part I bolded as it can be taken more than one way. I do not believe what "we see' is what it's about. What we may see is people asking silly and acting goofy. What is happening is a group of people seeking God and following what they've been taught.
Yes, I realize that the people following that practice are seeking God.
the seeking is great...
but when the seeking goes against all biblical examples of prayer
then what are we to think?
and when their actions actually hurt others who are seeking, then what?
shouldn't we speak against it?
now, weather you agree or not,
i firmly believe that the charismatics have turned their worship into an idol.
I have spent time in a charismatic church, and have charismatic friends who i love...
i am.I'm not willing to say it's all fake.
it's tv ministry is completely fake.
and anyone that says halllashabookana is a special form of prayer,
is outright lying or so badly confused
that they have no right to teach anyone biblical things.
all Christians should RUN from it as fast as they can.
don't pass go, don't collect $500.
charlatans, conning susceptible minds
(my uncle is a hypnotist, as was my friends dad - a very famous one too)
some folks just can't be hypnotized
and some are much more easily prone to it.
charismatic people THINK they are having an experience from God,
but in reality it is an emotional response
that one can get from watching a good tear jerker movie on tv.
they've been convinced (either from their self, or the pulpit)
that it's FROM God, and special,
instead of the reality that it is about their emotions/desire TO God.
not sure if i said that the best way, but....
i also don't doubt that there are good honest folks that believe it,
and are not trying to con anyone
even some of the leaders...
they are self hypnotized, which is common in religious circles...
it's called keeping up with the Jones'.
and is based upon DESIRE, rather than instruction from the Bible.
1Cor14 has NOTHING to do with the charismatic teachings of today.
NOTHING AT ALL
there was NEVER a Godly form of babyl.
it did not exist and die out in the 1st century...nope.
it never existed as the charismatics would have you believe.
not in Acts, not in the Gospels and not in 1Cor12-14.
imo charismatics (and others) have a problem reading more than ONE line of scripture at a time.
if they simply continued to read,
then the whole chapter falls nicely into place
as Paul repeatedly teaches the right way and the wrong way
to spread the Good News past all language barriers.
the rules for continuing the great commission,
not as some magical form of special prayer and answers from God
and i think it is sad that not only the charismatics give it credance, but so do some non-charismatics
thinking that it is readl, just not for them.
lol.
yep, sure does.It sure seems real to those doing it whether it real or not.
hence why telling someone that they believe in a lie
and are doing the OPPOSITE of what God said to do,
doesn't get great resonses, lol.
I know some of what we see is as fake as fake can be. But you can find a fake in any congregation. I'm thinking Jesus had to deal with one of those himself.
personally, i ponder Judas...
he repented and even tried to stop the murder of Christ
and was killed for it, cut from top to bottom and hung on a tree.
plus Jesus ORDERED him to do what he did...
but that's another topic for another day...
Jesus never prayed like that, never.
Jesus even taught us how to pray, when He was asked that exact question.
People have simply mistaken what Paul taught,
and made a whole religion out of it.
it's an idol for sure!
good to hear! But that aside I'm thinking along those same lines you posted.
