Psalms 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

This is how God's Word should be to the born again Christian, and if that is so we will surely take a stand for it.

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

One has only to open his eyes and look around himself. Read the Newspapers and watch the news on TV to see everywhere the signs Jesus has given us of the end times. And surely there are those who scoff and mock in their own conceit.

But we must take a stand for God's Word and be willing to suffer for it, and even die for it and be sure that the time will come when many will die for it.

Many of the early Church leaders not only suffered for the Words of Christ but many were martyed for it. Even today in Muslim countries the penalty for trying to convert one to Christianity is DEATH. I personally know at least one missionary who has suffered things I cannot even print here for the Word of God. But it is something that ALL those who love God and love His Word must be willing to do.

Revelation 6:9 ¶ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

Revelation 20:4: And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Amen Gerry, We will certainly suffer in many different ways.

John 15:20-21
Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.

Just had to add another scripture about suffering :)

1 Peter 4:12-14
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Eph writes...

Well I'm no FLAGELLANT....But I do hope I do a bit better than Peter did..!

Notice that Jesus didn't toss Peter away because Peter denied him in his hour of need...?? When Peter failed that wasn't the end for him...!

So... if I don't...I'll look to Peter's life as an example of Jesus's forgiveness for failure....and KNOW for sure that Christ won't toss me away IF I happen to fail him too...!

You know what this reminds me of (hates the fact that she's been away from study for awhile and verses aren't recalling like the used to).

That verse where it said we will not feel normal in this world, that we will be like aliens until Christ returns. Anyone remember where thats at? *frantically searches*

It is quite evident that we should be quite worried if everything is plain sailing. The devil always goes out of his way to stop God's people from communicating with him. We only need to see how we tried to wipe out Jesus and the early church. Something must be really wrong if now this does not seem to be happening as much, especially in those countries where to be a Christian is a hazard to your physical wel being. Have we really made it that easy for him that he does not need to persecute us?

Just a thought

1Peter2:11? "Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul. Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may as a result of your good deeds, as they see them, glorify God at Christ's second coming."

Good post, Gerry. It's easy to claim the mantle of "CHRISTIAN" when things are easy; but when times are DIFFICULT, then will the chaff separate from the wheat. How we deal with suffering shows (and shapes) our mettle.

"In the world you have tribulation, but take courage---I have overcome the world." Jn16:33

"For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for Him..." Philip1:29

"If you suffer for doing good and patiently endure it, this finds favor with God." 1Pet2:20
