There is a division of faith. Anytime one or more faith believes different than the others ( more importantly, believes different compared with what the Word says ) and stands apart from the rest the body because of that belief then that is a division. It divides the body of Christ!

"If Jesus had intended his church to be bound to a fixed set of rules"...He did. His teachings! Remember... "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. If ye love me, keep my commandments"

Not if you keep a few, not if you keep one or two here and there and must certainly not....ah your good, just do what you want!

There may be many interpretations of the Word but there is only one truth and it is that truth that we are meant to seek out through the Holy Spirit. Not the selfish, prideful and worldly truth that is taught in FAR to many churches today!

Show me a denomination that does not follow Jesus' two commandments, the Great Commission, and the ten Commandments. Show me one that does not agree with the Apostle's Creed (or Nicene Creed). If they do not, then they are not Christian. But for all that do, they are the body of Christ.

There is no division of FAITH between all the denominations of the Church. There is only a division of DOCTRINE.

Even if there was One True Church, it would have church buildings and congregations all over the world, right? Isn't that also "divided" since they are not in one place as the church was in Acts 2?

So the only two that we are told to follow is the Great Commission, all of the other teachings of Christ mean nothing?

If there is a division of faith then that is because the truth has been corrupted. If the truth has been corrupted then how can any one say that they know what true faith is when they can't even except the truth in its entirety?

There could be ten thousand church buildings spread out all over creation and they would be all one body...if they were all following the truth in its entirety. But when 2500 follow this and the rest follow something totally different then they are not the true body of Christ and only serve to create confusion amongst the people. As it stands today. The vast majority of the body is at war with the other! Example - JW...Pentecostal and Baptist. They each say the the other is a cult and don't follow the Word as it is written! Is this not true?

Because it ends up becoming too much about traditions and not the gospel. We also love to take shots are other denominations on open handed issues. Let us not forget that we have an enemy...and if he can't stop the church then he'll at least do all he can to divide it. Can you imagine how powerfully the church could move forward if we were united in Christ instead of divided?

What are you proposing? People talk about groups 'fighting' each other - but I don't really see that, unless you mean disagree.

Look at a simple town or community, I would say that most denominations don't interact with eachother. While I have seen it on occasion, it tends to stand out as an oddity to see the Methodists, Baptists, Catholics, and Non-Denominations all working together. Like I said, I have see it happen briefly in a town I lived in, and it was really a beautiful thing...and unfortunately they all ended up going to separate corners as time went on.

I guess for the most part you don't see a lot of open hostility between most denominations...except maybe toward or from Catholics...but there isn't unity in Christ and co-operation. Most of the time it's a hunker down in your group and be indifferent toward the other groups.
