Arnie becoming the Governator was a bad joke but he wasn't a bad governor. He muddled through, made some changes, and did a decent job.
And I gotta say that any successful musician is at least a decently skilled businessman. A good voice and a good songwriter only take you half the way there.
I'm still not optimistic about celebrity politicians though.
I think many Californians would argue Arnold Schwartzeneger made for a better Governor than Gray Davis.
And while a so-so actor, a roided former body builder, he at least was qualified to run the state, as it's much like running a business, because he has a Bachelor's degree in Business and International Economics from University of Wisconsin-Superior.
He was qualified, as someone observed about Sonny Bono.
The Constitution gives people the right to run for public office. But the responsibility of acquiring the position and presiding over the management, by law, of peoples lives is not to be taken lightly.
I think the problem we have in having so many problems in government now is people vote due to party loyalty and let that supersede all else when they consider their candidate. And people hold no respect for what the duties involve once a candidate gets the vote.
It isn't to be seen as, oh that would be fun to work in the Congress! I think I'll give that a shot.
Peoples lives and futures are on the table when their representative sits at the table and decides their future for years to come.
In this case with these reports what we can't ignore is that Aiken is considering a run. While asking for money while he's considering a run. But is he the man to represent all citizens of North Carolina? Or is he hoping people will vote for his celebrity, and as it is valid that someone brought up that he's gay, vote for him simply because of that?
What can he do for the people he's to represent? And are there others that are more qualified than himself? It's not the wrapping it's the content of the package that makes the difference.
