I rarely face a day, or an outing, or an event..
without spending time with God first.
Life is beautiful, blessed and doable.

When I don't, when I get rushed or frazzled and miss that time,
I lack that feeling of peacefulness and security... Feel open to trouble....

Worship.
Missing time to worship God leaves one with a feeling
of urgency. Like rushing through everything else, or
hoping the company will hurry and leave, or wishing
you could get home faster to your prayer closet to
be alone with Him...

I use a Trisagion and a short morning prayer at 5am with the readings for the day and Vespers in the early evening just before supper.

After the meal we settle down and do something together.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

My rule is "No Bible, no breakfast, no Bible, no bed." And I pray at least one of the Liturgy of the Hours, usually the Office of Readings. And I'm praying with St. Paul in a daily study.

I pray The Liturgy of The Hours (The Offices), The Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows, and personal prayer daily. And we have Mass Daily.

It must be nice to be able to get to be at all the daily services. Are you monastic?

God be gracious to me a sinner.

Not quite. I am a seminarian.
I think our offices are much simpler than yours though.

How so? Perhaps the psalms are left off? Or a totally different arrangement?

I use the Byzantine practice myself. I don't like abbreviating them, like I didn't get to stay for the full meal.

May I ask what you use for the book of the hours?

God be gracious to me a sinner.

We have a different arrangement.
Our psalms are said over the course of four weeks rather than one.
The format: (For Lauds and Vespers)
-Opening Verse. (Lord, open my Lips or God, Come to my assistance)
-a hymn
-two psalms, or one long psalm divided into two parts, and a scriptural canticle (taken from the Old Testament in the morning and the New Testament in the evening)
-a short passage from scripture
-a responsory, typically a verse of scripture, but sometimes liturgical poetry
-a canticle taken from the Gospel of Luke: the Canticle of Zechariah (Benedictus) for morning prayer, and the Canticle of Mary (Magnificat) for evening prayer
-intercessions
-the Lord's Prayer
-the concluding prayer (can be taken from the breviary, or from the Mass on Feasts and during, Lent, Advent, Christmastide, Paschaltide, et c.)
-a blessing given by the priest or deacon leading Morning or Evening Prayer, or in the absence of clergy and in individual recitation, a short conclusion

I took that from Wikipedia. :p

For the book of Hours, I use The Liturgy of the Hours. The Four Volume US set.

I like this. I'll have to remember it. Thx

I use to be pretty good at doing Morning Prayer, Noonday Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline several times a week. Lately, working two jobs, I've been trying to do at least one of the prayer offices a day. I use the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, the standard of the Episcopal Church. That being said, sometimes I like to use the 1662 Book of Common Prayer or the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. I generally like to pray at my home altar, it helps me to keep focused. :)

I've read that the Episcopal Church is seeing a revival of those who do the Daily Office, especially lay people, who do the Daily Office at home. This is definitely a good thing!

Its good to pray daily, praying in the morning does help us. Daily prayer with thanksgiving is a huge part of abiding in the Lord, walking in the spirit and seeking God. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
