Hi everyone! I have been attending a new church for a few months now and they are very enthusiastic about serving others and serving in the community, just as Jesus did. I wanted to start a "club" to encourage others to do service to others or "random acts of kindness" in their community. This is not meant to "brag" about our good deeds but instead to glorify Jesus in our actions and to give encouragement and ideas to others. I would also like those that have experienced random acts of kindness to post it on here. God bless and happy serving everyone!

Here are some things I have done so far this month:
1. Donated $20 to the March of Dimes (in honor of my father) for Father's Day.
2. Sponsored another child through Compassion International for $38 per month.
3. Left coupons that I would never use under different products in Wal-Mart (for example, baby formula, diapers, baby food, etc).
4. Gave baby/toddler clothes to my mom's neighbor who has a 1 year old.

Here are some ideas/things I have planned:
1. Help my SIL clean her house. She has been experiencing a lot of pain lately and hasn't been able to keep up with the cleaning.
2. Volunteer at my local food pantry.
3. Pay a compliment to a stranger.
4. Give blood (eek)
5. Donate clothes to goodwill.

This is a lovely club, and what's contained therein, must surely bless God. Many times, when we give, we may be giving to, and/or ministering to angels unawares, as it is written. Angels unawares are possibly in the most distressing of disguises, and therefore possibly shunned by society. Reminds me of this video and the lyrics, so profoundly near to God's very heart:

...i'm gathering names of the homeless guys around here who sleep in bus shelters and on blankets, etc. and introducing myself and (with God's prompting) giving them what God prompts me to (money) and praying for them.

Hi everyone! I started this club and then life got in the way and I haven't been on Christian forums in a while. I think with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, we can definitely step up our efforts to bless others. The acts of kindness don't even necessarily have to be random! Just this past weekend, I was involved with a group of other people in trying to fix up a homeless shelter (painting, maintenance work, etc). We also brought lots of items to donate that were needed and we brought a Thanksgiving meal to be served to the residents. It was definitely a blessing to serve others. What has everyone else been up to?

Wow that is so nice of you helping people like that, God is surely going to bless you. This seems like something I'd want to do, so any ideas on how to help others if you don't have any money to spare ? :)

There are definitely things to do to help others that do not involve money. Here are a just a few that I came up with:
1. Donate gently used items that you no longer use to a needy family.
2. Donate blood.
3. Help a neighbor out (mow their lawn, rake their leaves, wash their car, invite them over for dinner, or find out if they need help in some other area).
4. Hold a canned food drive and donate to a local food pantry (perhaps ask for people to bring canned foods rather than presents for a birthday party).
5. If you are a member of a church, become involved in a ministry that allows you to serve the community in some way.
