It's not about finding it hard to accept. I think belief in an immortal soul is rather an easy thing to accept, which is why most people do. I disregard what is not biblical.

That may be what your church teaches, but what I want to know is if it's what the bible teaches.

If you come away with teachings that are against the dogma of the Church. You got it wrong.

I tire of explaining it to you. I'm not going to argue with a brick wall.

Goodbye.

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Interestingly enough all you'd have to do is show me scripture to show where I err. But hey, it is what it is.

For instance, and I have shown this before and I believe you stated that these were not deceased saints.

Rev 8:3
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

The word with doesn't seem to phase you at all that there is activity on their part.

God be gracious to me a sinner.

And these?

Rev 6:9-10

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

And this? No activity on their part? No knowledge of the living?

God be gracious to me a sinner.

And the parables of Our Lord, you refute their being drawn from truths, but rather insist that they are just 'stories' and don't need to be truthful. What blasphemy to Christians!

Luke 16:19-31

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Rev 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

So perhaps I just missed this, but I wasn't aware that you believed the incense being offered with the prayers of the saints meant the saints in heaven. The incense being offered is being mingled with the prayers of the saints on earth.

And these?

And this? No activity on their part? No knowledge of the living?

God be gracious to me a sinner.

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

The problem here is that you ignore three keys parts of this text. 1st, John doesn't see them until the seal is open (where were they before then if you go straight to heaven?) 2nd, the souls are under the altar (What does that mean? What is under the altar?). 3rd, they are told to rest for a little season, or for a while longer depending on your translation, which is the same term applied to the dead.

The text is heavily symbolic which is quite obvious if you take a moment to examine it.

And the parables of Our Lord, you refute their being drawn from truths, but rather insist that they are just 'stories' and don't need to be truthful. (Luke 16:19-31)

What blasphemy to Christians!

God be gracious to me a sinner.

Please there is no blasphemy here. A parable by nature is a made up story. That's why it's called a parable. It would be akin to "Mother Goose". We tell children stories all the time to help them learn a lesson. Why is it such a strange concept when you apply it to Christ?

You shouldn't think for a moment that I haven't looked at the scriptures as you suggest I should. I have, and more than once. The problem is that I can't reconcile what you say they are saying, with what the law and prophets say. Do you believe that this knowledge simply wasn't available before Christ?

I'm not interested in the merry-go-round.

And I'm not interested in accepting something as truth simply because I'm told to. If you can't harmonize your "dogma" with the whole of scripture, then you're doing it wrong.

Thats ok, the OP wasn't to you.

It was to others, to warn them of what you're preaching.

I understand. No need to worry, those who are seeking God will find the truth in what His word says. There will always be those with a form of godliness, or who are worshiping God in vain.

Thanks for the constant slander against the 'One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church'.

This will be my last response to you.
