Mine too.

Pretty much how my father described it as well -- not too sure latter part of it; my father said after 23 years, he can't remember a time there weren't enough volunteers: easy duty, extra pay, and a gold star on your evaluation? Not many patrolmen pass up an opportunity like that.

Chaperoning a high school dance beats parking under an overpass with a radar gun for 4 hours any night of the week.

All it took was the reminder of the extra pay and the gold star. And my father's time was before VCRs, and DVRs, so some of the men didn't want to miss the football game, or whatever, but pretty much, yeah.

they'll let homosexuals marry soon enough across the states.. marijuana is going to be legalized across north america one day.. the world isnt good, man

I can understand the concern over gay marriage -- but what's the Christian objection to marijuana?

As is alcohol, it's mind/perception altering.

Not that it matters a hill of beans, I don't want to ever be accused
of saying "that said", I was a pot/drug user/abuser in the 60's and
70's, aka drugs, sex and rock & roll. I never once thought they
should be legalized.

As an aside, whenever I passed a Libertarian booth at the fair,
which I very much agree with, they'd tell me I had a right to use
Heroin. I never could accept that and still can't. Even the
legalization of pot bugs me as it did then.

Lastly, I could not care less about the revenue the government
would receive. It has too much to waste as it is.

Oh man, people might be able to marry their loved ones and cartels might have one less thing to peddle. The terror.

I can't help but wonder if someone should be able to marry their
loved ones, i.e. a 9 year old et al.

Thanks for comparing homosexuality to pedophilia. I'm sure it made you feel big to slander innocent people like that. Of course I meant consenting adults.

These sorts of comparisons always go beyond the pale. But if you are really concerned about that happening (i.e., about adults being able to marry minors) then you should really attack the problem at its source: not same-sex marriage, but marriage in general. Those making such comparisons seem oblivious to how they undermine their own argument. They're equally oblivious to the mean-spiritness of comparing a loving, committed consensual relationship between two adults of the same sex to the relationship a pedophile has with a child. In their world the two are somehow are equivalent.

I can't help but wonder if remedial civics would help people learn who can and cannot enter into a binding contract such as a marriage agreement.

Remedial civics might be a bit advanced for some conservatives.

... Thanks for comparing homosexuality to pedophilia...
I didn't. You made the comparison.

However, there are homosexual groups that support pedophilia.
nambla immediately comes to mind. Do you know of any Christian
groups that support pedophilia? Seriously.

There was a Christian on CF not long ago who was arguing for a Biblical basis to child-adult marriages.

The right to discriminate against minorities is as American as apple pie. Only Un-American tyrants want to take that right away from business owners. The liberals already took away that most precious freedom that allowed Americans to refuse to do business with the colored folks and to only serve white people. At least let people pick on the gays still. <- The right wing plea to stand up for human rights.

LOL! Obviously that so-called Christian didn't understand the
Bible. I say so-called because marrying children isn't Biblical.
He was a kook!

Of course, it's permissible with that "religion of peace".

You are oversimplifying it. This argument is over property rights.
