A Friend

What's in a friend you can trust?
With burdens and cares of the heart.
One in whom you can lean on,
Is near and faithful from the start.

What's in a friend who can help?
With wisdom and truth that guides.
One who will not mislead you,
Who knows, sees and provides.

What's in a friend who will listen?
To the whispers and desperate cries.
One whose love is unending,
Will understand all your whys.

What's in a friend who will come?
Knowing there's perils to be faced.
One whose life is precious,
And no one can take his place.

What's in a friend you can call upon?
Either day or night he's there.
One whose name is Jesus,
Just reach out to Him in prayer.
