When to fast, and from what

I've recently been given the blessing by my confessor to start keeping the fasts of the Church. I happily use this app to tell me the saints of the day, feasts, and now which days are fasting days.

The thing is, sometimes it will say something like "Wednesday. Fast." Others, it will say "Strict Fast."

I know that a strict fast involves fasting from meat, dairy, oils, alcohol, etc. What about the "minor" fast days? I don't want to come off as legalistic, but I want to do this right.

Thanks!

Halupki - OK you've been blessed to start Fasting - now think - what, when we are asked the question , do we all say ? :)

ASK YOUR PRIEST :D

Seriously you need to ease yourself into this - if you go in on the very strict Fasting you will land yourself with all sorts of problems. Talk to your priest/confessor - ask him how he wants you to start - and obey him ;)

The answers given are well-advised, but even so, there is an objective Fasting Rule given by the Orthodox Church and details regarding it can be found at www . abbamoses . Com / fasting . Html

If too difficult, your priest may modify it a little or a lot for you.

I haven't been able to follow the traditional fast yet, God-willing that will change as I know the traditional fast is for the benefit of my soul.
