It's odd how parents will take away the only friend a little lost girl like that has, isn't it?When i was about 8 - this girl that lived up the road had a knife and was threatening to off herself.
So i sat and talked to her - she hated her mom because she didnt let her do [this or that] and then she decided she should kill her mom.... so i reasoned with her.
Her mom and she both lived.
I told my mom - and well - that didnt go too well. I wasnt allowed to hang out with her after that. But i did - only because she needed a friend. I just didnt go to her house. She met me in the woods after that.
I never told her my mom said that - but i didnt find her crazed when she had the knife - just looking for attention.
Kids this age - want attention. Usually.
I knew a girl that suffered abuse at home. She confided in me and I being her only friend never told a soul. Then something happened with her family, which I never learned though I did know my little friend was moved to the custody of her aunt who lived just up the street from us, and suddenly she was home schooled and not allowed to meet with me anymore.
It's not the kids fault that something at home makes them miserable.
Certainly the little girl in this OP article was looking for attention. Cutting herself would send the message she was serious about killing herself with the same knife.
It's horrible to think that was the one way a little 8 year old girl thought to get the attention of people who could help her.
Rather than just talking about this, we should all surround her in our prayers. So that she doesn't feel as alone as she appears now.
