To the gluttons: When considering food, what is your stumbling block?

This was inspired by another post ...

I would like to know what foods causes many of you to lust ... I want to keep my brethren in Messiah in mind when I prepare food, so it wouldn't be a stumbling block for you. Since guys and gals are both so visual, perhaps I need to cover up my food and drink and food containers when I'm out so they don't tempt others? How much should I cover them, and what should I do about the tempting aromas that might come from them?

Those Dan-dee cheese curl things. I'm sure they are made of styrofoam and orange spray paint, but that never stops me from inhaling the whole bag.

They're in every convenient store, every gas station, every supermarket. This world is corrupt, and anyone who eats those things is corrupt because I shouldn't be expected to control myself.

I wonder if I were an obese person if I'd feel a bit insulted reading this?

How would it go over if I wrote out a thread entitled, "To all the bums & druggies" ... or maybe.. "To all the lustful perverts" (there's plenty of those to be found!)...

No, it is not a joke, he is making a statement based on what is in the Bible, the New Testament to be exact.

No ... my post was not meant to be a joke. It was, as Lulav pointed out, based on a statement made in the majority's New Testament. (And, it is also a little tongue-in-cheek poke at Christendom's obsession with sex to the detriment of other issues such as this.)

Scripture says that gluttony is a sin. So, I am addressing those who purposefully engage in gluttony, and, unfortunately, I see this sin "celebrated" among many in Christendom today! :o

I am not addressing obese people. Obesity is not the same as gluttony. One can be obese but not a glutton, for example, due to medical issues.

Well ...as far as I know everyone loves to eat. I know that I should eat small meals throughout the day to raise my metabolism but most of the time its just dinner. I don't buy snacks and my kids can not help themselves to whatever because food costs a lot of money....but I do go to a nice restaurant "applebees,red lobster

" at least twice a year ...sometimes more...but it is mushrooms and steak and lobster that I like to order...recently I've been eating fish more just because I like to think I'm eating something Jesus would eat...but fresh fruit is what my children love to eat...gosh if I think about it my favorite foods are meats and fruit and vegies...I do not like dessert...

but because of the high cost of food we are stuck with hot dogs and mac and cheese at least twice a week.

put food in front of a hungry person...

specially kids and you will always get a smile

I do agree that gluttony seems to be the sin people don't seem to address very often. There are more scriptures about eating than there are regarding drinking.
I think a lot of people who have these addictions, gluttony included, are trying to fill a hole in their soul. Some have been abused or unloved. We humans often turn to things we ought not to in order to feed one's "love deficit".

Nothing wrong with eating until one is full ... who doesn't like to eat?

The problem are those who overeat and celebrate it as a good thing!

... and burger stores are on virtually every corner in the united States!

Perhaps they should all be forced to move to a red-light district and kept hidden from view so as to not inflame the passions of the gluttons, or tempt our suggestive youth!

I overeat chocolate but I sure don't celebrate it as a good thing. That doesn't stop me from really enjoying it though :clap:
