Want a deeper fellowship with God? Read His Word.

Col 3:16: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;…”

Deuteronomy 31:11: “Then all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.”

Revelation 1:3: “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.”

Isaiah 34:16: “Seek ye out of the book of the LORD…”

Luke 4:16: “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”

Ephesians 3:4: “Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)”

I Thessalonians 5:27: “I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.”

II Timothy 4:13: “The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.”

Colossians 4:1: “Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.”

Amen Beckijhn. I'm a firm believer that we need to spend time each day reading the scriptures.

I wonder what the results of a survey would say if everyone truthfully answered the question, "do you spend as much time reading the scriptures as you do visiting christian forums?''

Psalms 130:5: "I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his Word do I hope."

Sorry to say, I don't think we need a survey to know the answer to that.

Hi Gerry. What Psalm 130:5 says to me is that we can draw ourselves nearer to God by waiting. We wait by standing still, being quiet and watching.  The Psalm serves as a reminder to help us avoid getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of the world.

OIC! Thanks! Well I just assumed that since it mentioned hoping in His Word, that we could not hope in what we have not read! Sorry to be misleading! Thanks for correcting me.

However in both ways, we are being taught to follow the instruction of the Lord. We are also commanded to fellowship with the bretheren. I learn a substantial amount here at the forums as well as when I read my Bible in my room alone. God's word is God's word whether you find it here or in a Bible. Jesus said "My words shall not pass away." And I find pleasure in the fact that I can come here and find His words. :D

Additionally, the majority of my time here is an application of the message to "teaching them to obey everything I have taught you." This deeper fellowship forum I begin to enjoy more every day, because the teaching and revelation I find here is spectacular. I truly enjoy the men and women of God who spend their time in here. Many people inadvertently answer the questions I come up with during my private Bible reading. They make a powerful combination :)

Although I do wonder... what would happen if we did all spend that much time in the word and came back to share what we each had learned... WOW. That would make for some pretty awesome threads!
