Perhaps,... but it was how Jesus rolled.
I never tell people their faith is not large enough.
But when people were healed, Jesus did say,
"your FAITH has made you whole"
And when the disciples failed, He did call them perverted.
If you're keeping yourself filled (present tense) maybe, but...
I have a spirit filled friend who's totally in love with God and spends hours
a day in prayer and meditation.
Years ago, she had this deep depression come upon her, and she could not
find her way out of it. It took a full year.
I do believe Christians can be depressed.
King David, when depressed, would speak life into His soul.
(WHY are you cast down, oh my soul...remember God and how
Good He is... etc)
He would "Encourage himself in the Lord"
Saul would have music played to him.
Allusions to sadness/depression/grief in
can be found throughout Scripture
As I look at Scripture, it does seem
to lean towards her understanding.
We are hard pressed on every side,
yet not crushed;
we are perplexed,
but not in despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken;
struck down, but not destroyed
Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles
are achieving for us an eternal glory
that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal
God's answer seems to be to fix our eyes
and minds on Him, on what things are Good,
TRUE, trustworthy, noble etc...
I don't judge anyone who needs to take the pills
and I don't expect to be judged when i take the wine.
But those things are not really the answer either.
God is the answer and He can and does deliver us.
IMO
Blessings.
Peace
Sorry, I do not agree, under grace, under New Covenant we are or even could if we truly have met with father & son in our hearts.
OT( old covenant) people could not have this, we can, but some do and most have the old covenant spirit.
Depression exist sure. Christians yes, but Jesus offers true freedom now from everything,be in spirit always.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lords people.
Other place says
17 pray continually,
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is Gods will for you in Christ Jesus.
We can have Holy Spirit in us all the time..now I believe our body can be beaten, we can be put down, mocked, but inside were Holy Spirit has manifested we will always feel and have extreme joy. The body will suffer, but mind, heart and soul belong to Heavenly Father after true anointing of fire of Holy Spirit. Yes some Christians might be depressed before being filled. But all is different after Spirit is in you. Isn't this Good news?
Heavenly Father bless you.
