The Holy Spirit
Bestows upon us a Crown ​

　
　
Jesus said He ‘took captivity captive, and gave GIFTS unto men.’We are in that time of Him now gifting His disciples with gifts to minister better. All the gifts are meant to be used in ministry. Ministers need many gifts, to do the ‘works’ that are ‘greater’ than Christ’s works in His first coming.
　

The ‘crown’ that He offers us to wear,
is a gift we desperately need.​
　
　
Psalms 8:3-9
"When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained, what is man, that Thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little (while) lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet; all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passes through the paths of the sea. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth."
　
　

We may, like the psalmist, wonder... "What is man? Why is God interested in sinful mankind?" Note, that God is not only concerned about man, but He has made ‘all things’ to be subject and lower in importance to mankind. We are a "‘little’ (word indicates talking of time, not distance) lower than the angels."

Mankind has been crowned with glory and honor by the Lord. God has stationed mankind very high in this creation.
　


‘Crowned’ means that authority, ability to rule, and to lead, has been given mankind. God has placed all of creation in Adam’s dominion. Adam was king of the earth and his crown was the glory of God. Something spoiled Adam’s place, satan took the crown that belonged to Adam. The moment Adam failed, he committed high treason against God, and satan became the ‘god of this world’. (II Corinthians 4:4).


John 10:34
"Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods.?"


This is a quote from Psalms 82:6
"I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High."


It is not that we are equal with God, but we are created to be ‘sons of God’, children of God, and as His children, we have a godly nature, glory, and authority. We live far below our privileges, and many have lost our crowns.


This teaching here is not meant to sound like I condone the ‘dominion’ theology out there in many circles today. I do not. Their teaching is one of trying now to rule this world, claim millennial blessings far before the millennium, and is focused on things and power, not on Jesus and winning souls to the kingdom.


We do, though, have a crown to wear, we are called to have a rightful dominion over the powers of the devil, over the things of the world. We are in the time of waiting for Jesus to come, where He will claim all this world and He will then rule. Till then, it is not ‘ruling’ we are seeking, but in deposing the devils from their pretend thrones in the lives of sinners.


Job felt stripped of his crown.

Job 19:6-9
"He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head."


Satan tries to wear the crown meant for you and I. Jesus kept His crown, but the devil tempted Him, and attempted to get the crown of Jesus. The devil has taken the crown of many, and we are here, as ministers, to get that crown away from the devil. We are to wear a crown.


John 14:30
"The prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in Me."


Jesus called the devil, ‘prince’ because satan wore the crown meant for man. But satan could not get the crown of Jesus. Jesus resisted the devil in the wilderness and retained His crown. Jesus had authority, dominion, and exercised such rule over sickness, elements, etc. God intends for mankind to have this authority and dominion also. Jesus is called the ‘second Adam’, for the first had lost his crown, and Jesus came and reclaimed it.


Hebrews 2:5-9
"For unto the angels hath He not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. But one in a certain place testified, saying ‘What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? Or the son of man, that Thou visitest him? Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; Thou crownest him with glory and honor, and didst set him over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him. But we see Jesus, Who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor.... that though death, He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil, and to deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage..."


Thus, Jesus came and took from the devil, the crowns he had claimed from us. We need no longer subject to death, but should be eternal beings, and should rule, being no longer in bondage.


Crowns are available to us.

John 17:22
"The glory that Thou gavest Me, I have given them."


The sin that took our crowns, is made nil, by Jesus Christ. If sin left your head bare of the crown, then repent, and let Jesus put the crown back upon your head.


Jesus has His crown, and offers it back to :
Matthew 28:18-19
"All power is given Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore..."


The power and glory that Jesus exhibited in His first coming are promised to be available to us. But we ‘hold fast’ that crown... or we can be without it...

Revelation 3:11
"Behold, I come quickly, hold that fast that thou hast, that no man take thy crown."

Satan wants to strip your crown from you, He will instigate men to try to get you to yield your crown.

The wise will wear the crown.
Proverbs 4:7-9
‘Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she (wisdom) shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee."

The unwise and the unlearned will miss the crown.
Hosea 4:6
"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

Not many talk about this crown. Some who do, pervert its teaching by ‘carnal-prosperity seeking’. Many are struggling saints, without the wisdom to wear the crown. Religious traditions, and faulty teaching, trains many saints to not wear the crown.


Matthew 15:6
"Thus have ye made the commandments of God of none effect by your traditions."


Satan would like us to yield our authority and glory. Through many of the "doctrines of demons" the faith of many is simply form, ‘denying the power.’ The church of many is just cushioned pews, where ‘hearers only’ do not have training to be ‘doers of the Word." The church, without its crown, is helpless.
There is no need to stay helpless.

Romans 5:17
"For if by one man’s offence, death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ."


In heaven, all saints will finally realize that God wants them to reign. Look at the song the saints sing in heaven:
Revelation 5:10
"And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us unto our God, kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth."


We are a royal priesthood. We are made priests, like unto the tribe of Levi... but we reign, like unto the tribe of Judah, so we are a royal priesthood. We are a priesthood, that wears a crown. The High Priest pre-figured Jesus, with a crown on the mitre, and now that Jesus has come, we can wear a crown too.


I Peter 2:5, 9
"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable unto God by Jesus Christ.
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness into marvelous light."

The world may call us fanatics, extremists. Yet, we are just claiming what God wants us to have. We are a royal priesthood, and we are to be wearing the ‘crown’.

The mitre of the High Priest was linen, and rolled, or wound around the head.

Exodus 28:39
"And thou shalt make the mitre of fine linen."

A golden plate (Hebrew word was ‘tzeetz’ meaning ‘flower’) was upon the mitre.


Exodus 28:36-38
"And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave on it, like the engravings of the signet- ‘HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD’. And thou shalt put on it a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre, upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be. And it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things... shall always be upon his forehead, that he may be accepted before the Lord."


The crown on the mitre represents the glory and honor and power given to the children of God.
We do not deserve it, we have not earned it. It is ours, due to the ‘holiness of the Lord.’ As High Priests, we claim the crown to wear.


In the New Jerusalem, the children of God wear the crown. For it says of such ones... ‘His name shall be in their foreheads’ (Revelation 22:4). The name on the golden plate, i.e. the crown, is God’s name.


We need to preach this as a renewed doctrine. It has been lost over the ages. It has been perverted and adulterated by the carnal serving of the dominion theology of this day. We need to know there is power in the faith. We have authority over the demons, the sicknesses, the battles of life. Many have a ‘form of godliness’ but are ‘denying the power thereof..." The power and authority of Christ Jesus is offered to us, and it is our crown to wear. We are not defeated, we are beggars, fools, paupers. No, in truth, we reign. No matter what the devil throws at you, you still have that crown... Exercise your authority. Do not give the crown away. Battle the devil with authority. Do not try to use the crown to claim a mansion here, or a Mercedes to drive to your yacht. No, this crown is now to be used to claim authority over the devil and to win this spiritual battle.

Kings issue decrees, settle things, bind and loose. We too can decree the will of God, and see things happen!

THE HOLY SPIRIT BESTOWS A 'BREASTPLATE'
TO HELP US IN MINISTRY
TO THE MANY KINDS OF SAINTS ​

　
　PART 1


A special piece of clothing, worn by the high priest, is called the ‘breastplate’. It had twelve stones on it. It was attached with golden chains to the ephod. On the shoulder piece were two onyx stones with six of the tribes inscribed on each stone.


The twelve tribes represent the children of God, for we are priests, but we are also God’s children.


Our priestly ministry engages us in the ministry to others.

These ones we minister to, have a nature that we are to understand.

The stones reveal, in type and shadow, the natures of the children of God.

We need to understand the various natures represented amidst the children of God.


God wants to bestow upon us a breastplate to spiritually wear, one that will have the ones to whom we minister for the Lord, upon our hearts. This breastplate will also give us spiritual understanding and discernment of the kind of people for whom we minister.



The onyx stones on the shoulders of the high priest, were engraved with the names in the order of their birth.

The breastplate had the names inscribed by camp order, showing no order of preference.

Reuben might prove ‘unstable as water’, yet he was first in birth order, and fourth in camp order.
Benjamin and Joseph were third in camp order, and in the last row of birth order.

Each of us are loved equally by the Lord.

They were enclosed in ‘ouches’ (settings). They were fastened to the shoulder pieces of the ephod. They were on the shoulders, indicating ‘strength’, for God’s people rest in God’s strength.

The onyx stones were not the onyx stones of modern times, but the words actually means ‘to shine with the lustre of fire.’

On the left stone was the names ‘Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin.’

On the right stone were the names ‘Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, and Naphtali."

Exodus 28:9-14
"And thou shalt take the two onyx stones and grave on them the names of the children of Israel. Six of their names were on one stone, and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth... thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold... And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulders of the ephod... and Aaron shall bear the names before the Lord for a memorial. And thou shalt make ouches of gold. And two chains of pure gold at the ends... fast the wreathen chains to the ouches."


Two stones on the shoulders show that we are ‘borne of God.’.


We are carried by the Lord. The gold ouches indicates that we share deity, by being the sons of God.

Exodus 28:15-29
"And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work... foursquare it shall be, being doubled, a span shall be the length... the breath... thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones... stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel... And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the Lord continually."


The word ‘breastplate’ means (in Hebrew) ‘ornament"... And it was an ornament, but it had more purpose than to simply be ‘beautiful’ and decorative. Gesenius who originated this idea of it meaning ‘ornament’ was only making a ‘guess’, for the word was not an easily translated one. The Septuaguint translators chose the Greek word ‘logeion’ meaning ‘oracle’, or ‘speaking voice’ to translate the Hebrew word. This translation by Hebrew scholars, so long before Gesenius ventured his ‘educated guess’ seems more plausible. The purpose of the breastplate was not to be decorative, but to be a vehicle of communication of God to man.


God wants to speak to His children today. He has chosen us to wear a breastplate now, and assume some duties of speaking His message to the people. We call our callings to be ministries, but each ministry needs gifts, bestowments of authority and power.


The breastplate was covered with stones, but inside this pocket-like necklace, were the urim and thummin. These were taken from the pocket, to find God’s answer to questions posed to the High Priest. So, God, somehow, with these two stones, spoke to His people. The breastplate was a method of God speaking. Too often we get stuck on the beauty of the stones, the gold, and the colorful linen, but that was the wrapping for the urim and thummin, to which we need to pay more attention. The confusion of how these stones worked, and the method or means of God speaking, has caused most theologians to avoid the subject, and miss the marvelous truths taught by this part of the garments of the High Priest.


These ‘urim and thummin’ will be discussed far more fully in the next section. In this one, we will look at their covering, the breastplate.
　


This ‘breastplate’ was made of the same material as the ephod, doubled to form a bag or pocket, and was about nine inches square. The ephod, the onyx stones, and the breastplate were all linked together. The stones were arranged in four rows of three.

The first stone is called the sardius. ​

This is from the Hebrew word ‘odem’, from the same three letters that form the name ‘Adam’, which meant ‘red man’, and this stone was a ‘red stone’, actually a carnelian, blood red.

The name "Judah" was inscribed upon it. ‘Judah’ means ‘praise’. Praise, worship, glory to God are desired by the Lord, from His people. Some of the saints, seem to be more given to praise than others, but praise is due from all of us. Jesus said, at the time of the triumphal entry, that if the disciples and crowd did not praise Him, the stones would cry out.

Genesis 49:8,11,12
"Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine, he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes into the blood of grapes... His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk..."


‘Binding his foal unto the vine’ shows we are to, like Judah, bind ordinary pursuits to be ready to praise the Lord.

‘Washed his garments in wine’ shows we are to, like Judah, purify and cleanse our daily life with praise.

"Eyes be red with wine’ shows we are to have our countenance reflect our life of praising the Lord. In the same way as wine reddens one’s eyes, so our praise should be reflected in our eyes. There are some to whom we minister, who are filled with praise to the Lord. All of us should be putting praise into our conversations, for with such praise, God is well pleased.
　

The second stone is called the topaz . ​

This is the Hebrew word ‘pitdah’, and was a rich yellow color. The stone was actually the peridot, which is the dark yellowish green. The Septuaguint used the word ‘topazion’ which was a stone from the island of Topazios in the Red Sea.


"Issachar" was inscribed upon it. Issachar means ‘hath given hire, recompense, or reward.’

Isaiah 40:10, 62:11
"Behold, His reward is with Him."

God is Himself the reward, and the rewarder of the faithful. We partake of this reward. Jesus said ‘the glory which Thou gavest Me, I have given them.’

Genesis 49:14-15
"Issachar is a strong ass, couching down between two burdens. And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant, and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute."

These are the kind of Christians who resolve for the sake of the reward from the Lord, to serve and bear burdens. As Christ Jesus Himself, Who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross. We can serve and bear burdens now, knowing there is great reward for our labors.

Abraham would not touch the spoils of the enemy, lest he be indebted to Sodom. He was faithful to be searching only for the heavenly promises that God promised him. We should not seek ‘reward’ or simply the ‘mammon’ of this world, but, as instructed, we should ‘seek’ heavenly rewards.
　

The third stone is called the carbuncle. ​


This is the Hebrew word ‘baraketh’ meaning ‘flashing or glittering’. The color of this was an emerald green. This was the color of the ‘rainbow’ aura that is about God’s throne in heaven.

Revelation 4:3
"... a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald’ (Greek, smaragdos).

"Zebulun" was engraved upon it. "Zebulun’ means ‘dwelling’.

Genesis 49:13
"Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea, and he shall be for a haven for ships."


Zebulun, while having a permanent habitation on the land, became a haven for ships to dock and find safety. Saints are to be secure dwelling place ‘glittering out to others, that we have a safe haven for others to come and find rest and safety. The carbuncle and Zebulun together speak of a offering of hospitality and acceptance, that saints are to offer to others, and this is like a flashing light out to others. Some to whom we minister are those who offer hospitality, give a place of safety to the troubled of this world.
　
　

The fourth stone is called the ‘emerald’. ​

This is the Hebrew word ‘nophech’, meaning ‘to transmit, or pervade’. It is not the emerald as we know it today, it is the ‘chrysoprase’. Its color was red, and we commonly call it today the ‘garnet’.


"Reuben’ was engraved upon this stone. ‘Reuben’ means ‘see a son’. God calls us to ‘see a Son’. The stone being ‘red’, reminds us that it is the blood sacrifice of this Son, that we are to notice. Of Reuben, we are told, that he was ‘unstable as water." (Genesis 49:3-4).

Water, when cold, becomes ice; when hot, becomes steam; when windblown, becomes waves... and when moving, always flows downhill, the way of least resistance.

Many saints are poor, feeble, weak, failing, unstable.

Instability pervades and spreads (nophech) very easily. Instability spreads through churches easily. Instability of the flesh is a trait of many saints... and when we find ourselves in such instability, we need to ‘see the Son."


Many of those to whom we minister, are ‘unstable’, and need to ‘see’ Jesus for that weakness. We minister to many like that.

part 2 of 'The Holy Spirit bestows a breastplate'


The fifth stone is the ‘sapphire’.


This is the Hebrew word ‘sappeer’, meaning ‘to scratch, or to polish.’ It is the lapis lazuli stone, which is a deep blue with specks of iron pyrite. In Ezekiel, we find it forms the base of the throne of God (Ezek. 1:26, 10:1). In Exodus 24:10, it is shown as the pavement under the feet of God. The word ‘sappeer’ is used to speak of the polishing, or separation of defilements from those of the Nazarite vows. The verb from which ‘sappeer’ is taken means ‘to cut off’, ‘to divide’.
This stone refers to the ‘separated life’ of saints. The cutting off of that which is impure, the polishing of the life is a trait of many people of God. The blue color of the stone reminds us of the heavenly nature of the saints, and should be the ‘heavenly minded’ reason for the ‘separation from defilements.


"Simeon" was inscribed upon this stone. ‘Simeon’ means ‘hearing’. God hears when we cry out to Him. And as we separate from the defilements of the world, we hear God’s responses more clearly.


"If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship, one with another."


In hearing from God, the saints find God will instruct, comfort, perfect the saints with His words. All saints need to learn to separate from the earthly defilements and to polish our lives by hearing the Lord, and being more heavenly minded. We minister to some who are like that.
　

The sixth stone is called the ‘diamond’. ​


The ‘diamond’ was actually rock crystal, a clear stone. It is from the Hebrew word ‘yah-ghalohm’ meaning ‘to break in pieces or bruise’.


The name of ‘Gad’ was inscribed thereon. ‘Gad’ means ‘a troop’. God’s children are a countless number. Revelation 19 shows that Jesus will return as Captain of the troop of saints. The saints form an army that breaks the enemy in pieces. The enemy actually are a ‘troop’ that attack saints. But, it is we, the saints, who are victorious.

Genesis 49:19
"Gad... a troop shall attack him; but he shall drive them back at last."

The three stones on this row show that we are to ‘see a Son,’ and be ‘hearing’, and then we will be a ‘troop’ of the Lord... to ‘break the enemies in pieces.’ God shows us to be an ‘unstable son’, but hearing and being polished by God, we finally will form a conquering multitude.


This troop has power. The Bible tells us that ‘where two or three’ agree, there is powerful miracles. We are also told, that ‘one shall chase a thousand, and two shall chase ten thousand’... so what shall a troop do???!

There are saints, who find that a troop of the enemy attacks, and attacks. The burdens, troubles, and trials seem overwhelming. But, if we are ‘overcomers’ (as exhorted to be in Revelation chapters 2 and 3), we shall be conquerors, breaking the enemy in pieces.
　
　
The seventh stone is called the ligure.​


This is the Hebrew word ‘leh-sham’, and the stone which it is, is unsure. The most likely answer to the mystery is the jacinth, a fiery yellow stone. ‘Ephraim’ was inscribed thereupon. ‘Ephraim’ means ‘double fruit, double increase’.

John 15:16
"Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain.’

God has chosen for us to bear much fruit. The fruit described in the Bible is ‘love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, kindness, meekness, temperance, and faithfulness.

This fruit is to be found in the Christian life, ‘without measure’.

Like the almond rod, cut off, and yet, in the morning, it is found covered with fruit, blossoms, and buds. There are saints, who are great testimonies to the world, for they show forth fruit of the Spirit, in such abundance, that the world marvels at the impossibility of such happening in the natural.

The obvious miraculous nature of fruit being in such a person, with all the trials, burdens, and troubles in their lives, makes the world realize that Spirit of God has to be the Author of such fruit.
　
　
The eighth stone is called the agate.​


This is the Hebrew word ‘shvoo’. It is the banded sky-blue agate. It reminds us of the ‘blue’ sky, speaking of our heavenly nature.

The name of ‘Manasseh’ was inscribed thereupon. "Manasseh" means ‘forgetfulness’. One trait of the saints is meant to be ‘forgetfulness’. We often berate or denigrate ‘forgetfulness’, but it is a necessary feature we are supposed to have.

Remembering some past things can be disturbing. Paul said he was ‘forgetting the things which are behind’, and pressed on toward the mark of the high calling of the Lord.


The sinfulness of the past, even the sinfulness of ‘earlier in the day’, need to be forgotten. The sins are forgiven, once we have repented to the Lord. He then forgets, and we are to train ourselves to do likewise.
　

Genesis 41:51
"And Joseph called the name of the firstborn, Manasseh, for God, said he, hath made me to forget all my toil, and all my father’s house."

Joseph forgot two things, ‘his toil’ and ‘his father’s house’. Saints, likewise, are to cast off remembrance of the past. The old habits, regrets of former mistakes, murmurings of the past, old associations that brought us shame, are to be cast off, and forgotten. By doing so, we find a new liberty in the Lord.


Paul said he had to crucify himself daily. Putting old memories and shameful past deeds to death, is necessary. As ‘Saul, this man we call ‘Paul’, had been self righteous, a persecutor, a murderer. But He forgot the things which were behind, and occupied his mind with the glories that he saw in paradise, when shown those things there. The Lord had to put a present thorn in the flesh in Paul, or his whole time would have been consumed with the future blessings he saw were to come. The present work was all that the Lord wanted to remind Paul of, not the former, past things, that Paul had already forgotten, and refused to think about.


If saints would push into forgetfulness, many of the past injuries, hurt feelings, past sins, past times of being ‘abused’, how wonderful the services could become in those churches.


Yet, in too many, old memories of such things, fill the minds of saints, and the joy and victories cannot come to such church congregations, for the memories of past things shut out the joy of possible victories.


Lot’s wife, remembered some things of Sodom, that she hated to leave, and that past thinking... made her turn back and longingly gaze toward Sodom... God had instructed for all of them to not look back, and we too, are told to be forgetful, of ‘old things’. We are warned to ‘Remember Lot’s wife’. Lot’s wife, and we too, should forget the things and events that the Lord delivered us from at the moment of salvation.


"Old things are passed away, and all things have become new..." Abraham had to forget his former country (Ur), his kindred, and his father’s house... that he left to follow the Lord to the promised land.
　
The ninth stone is called the amethyst.​


The Hebrew word is ‘agh-lah-mah’. This oriental amethyst is a stone of great hardness, purity, and beauty, of a fine violet or purple color.

‘Benjamin’, meaning ‘son of my right hand’, was inscribed thereupon. All glory is ascribed to the right hand of God, and it indicates power. Rachel, mother of Benjamin, had envy against Leah, who had born children to Jacob. Rachel said ‘Give me children, or else I die.’ She bore Joseph first, before Benjamin, and "Joseph’ means ‘the Lord shall give me another son." So, even in the birth of Joseph, Rachel was looking forward to another son. She was pressing her will for that second son, and in giving birth to Benjamin, she died. If God grants all our petitions, we would likewise find some bring grief, and hurt. We are to be like ‘Benjamin’... and be God’s right hand and power. But we must yield to God’s will. Israel was self willed later, and wanted a king... God gave them Saul, a Benjamite, and they suffered the consequences. In mercy, God does not want us to have all ‘our’ desires, but we are to desire that which is the will of God.


The first name given to Benjamin, was ‘ben-oni’, meaning ‘son of my sorrow.’ There are some saints, who are so zealous of some things that are not the will of God, that the seeking for them brings sorrow and pain to many. Jacob, renamed Ben-oni, to Benjamin, making the ‘last’ to be the first, and Benjamin was given the pre-eminence of being the son of the right hand.


God’s saints are given pre-eminence. We are not literal ‘sons of Abraham’... but are the branch grafted into the vine, and become ‘heirs’ with Christ, and can come ‘boldly unto the throne of grace’, and we can now call God to be ‘Abba Father’.

part 3 of the Holy Spirit Bestows a Breastplate


The tenth stone is called the beryl.


The beryl is the Hebrew word ‘tarshish’ meaning ‘to break or subdue.’ It is the citrine quartz. The "wheels’ that moved in all directions in Ezekiel 1:16, 10:9, were the color of beryl.
On this stone was inscribed the name ‘Dan’. ‘Dan’ means ‘judgment’. Dan was to judge his people. He was also to be a ‘lion’s whelp, leaping on the prey from Bashan.’ (Genesis 49:16, Deuteronomy 33:22) This means he was to be changing from the prey, to the conquering of the prey. From being a lion’s cub, to being the devourer and judge of others.


In this world now, we, the saints, are the lion’s whelp. Children of the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and yet someday, we shall become judges of this sinful world.

I Corinthians 5:12
"Know ye not, that the saints shall judge the world.’


We are not judges yet, but we shall someday make a great
leap, and someday soon, be judges. In Revelation 5, following the rapture, we find saints sitting on thrones.


Jesus did not come in His first coming to judge, but to take our judgment. In His second coming, He shall come as Judge.

Saints are not in this time to be judges of others, we are told to ‘judge’ ourselves (I Corinthians 11). Soon, when we return with Jesus at the second coming, we will be judges. In this time, we are to prepare for the later judgment duties, by ‘judging or examining ourselves’, discovering our shortcomings, infirmities, and corruption.

Too many saints get their later duty of judgment in operation too soon. We have all found saints who try to be judges of every one else. Others are not our servants, but we all answer to the Lord. Until that judgment seat of Christ, we are not to take on ourselves the job of judgment.
　

The eleventh stone is called the onyx. ​


The onyx is the Hebrew word ‘shoh-ham’. It was a white and brown layered stone. The name ‘shoh-ham’ means ‘a flashing forth of splendor.’


Two other onyx stones were on the High Priest, they were part of the shoulder pieces. The names of all the twelve tribes were inscribed on these stones, in order of birth. The saints, all of them, have ‘flashes’ of splendor and blessedness. Mercy, pardon, forgiveness, and blessedness are found in all saints.
The name of ‘Asher’ was inscribed upon this stone. ‘Asher’ means ‘blessedness’. The word ‘blessed’ in Psalms is the plural of ‘asher’.


Psalms 32:
"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven.’


Leah gave this name ‘Asher’ to her adopted son (son of Zilpah, her bond maid), because of her own joy... she felt blessed by the adoption of this son. We, the saints, are blessed sons of adoption to the Lord... We, who were once ‘of our father the devil’ are now ‘sons of God.’


Mary, mother of Jesus, said ‘all generations shall call me ‘blessed’" This is the same word ‘makarius’, which is the word the Septuaguint translates ‘Asher’. Likewise, the believer is ‘blessed, and should flash forth as a blessing to others, and be a blessing to each other (I Th. 2:19-20, Philippians 4:1, III John 4).

Psalms 68:19
"Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation."
　

The twelfth stone is called the jasper.​

This is the Hebrew word ‘jahsh-peh’. It is the plasma jasper stone, which is nearly emerald green with black spots or yellow patches on it.

"Naphtali’ was inscribed thereupon. "Naphtali’ means ‘wrestling, to twist’. It is not the same word as used of Jacob when he ‘wrestled’ all night with the Lord. But it is the same idea as ‘prevailed’. Rachel gave this name to her son of Bilhah (her maid). She had prevailed to have a son, finally, even if it had to be the son of her maid.

Revelation 4:3
"He that sat on the throne was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone.’ This shows that Jesus has ‘prevailed’ to be enthroned.

Genesis 49:21
"Naphtali is a hind let loose, he giveth goodly words.’

A ‘hind’ that is let loose, prevails, and continues to live. We can prevail with Christ, and even though sins may bind us, troubles may surround us, and burdens may weigh us down, we can prevail, and speak words of joy and testimony for the Lord.

Habakkuk 3:19
‘The Lord God is my strength; and He will make my feet like hind’s feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places.’

We wrestle, fight, and struggle in life, but we are to be overcomers, conquerors. Paul said, ‘when I am weak, then am I strong’. The wrestling, the battle, and the weariness thereof, should not hinder our zeal and message. The last stone on the breastplate emphasizes a prevailing battle, and a message of ‘goodly words’.


We minister to people who are like these. In fact, I am sure, that in all twelve of these, each one here reading this has seen themselves at times. Sometimes, we are full of praise.


Sometimes, we are as 'unstable as water'. Sometimes, we are a troop of the Lord battling the devils, etc.


Not only are we like each of these at times, so are the people to whom we minister. We need to understand the differences of people, but also the similarities. Each saint is singly one of these, and sometimes each of these. When we minister, we need to know which is which, when is one like this or like that.


Our message will be given by the Lord, but our empathy for those to whom we speak, needs this bestowment gift of bearing a spiritual breastplate upon our heart.

THE URIM AND THE THUMMIN were types of the GIFTS OF SPEAKING
from the Holy Spirit...



　
The ephod, its shoulder stones, the breastplate, and the two stones inside that pocket, formed the prophetic dress of the High Priest, the speaking voice of God to His people. By means of these items of clothing, the High Priest could learn the counsel and judgment of God on various problems the nation would face. He could then declare the course of action that the people should take. He could sometimes then tell what events were about to happen.

This is a gift that all of us in ministry today need also. Jesus is still bestowing gifts to the ministries. We have the gifts of prophetic messages, the gift of tongues, the interpretation of tongues... These gifts of speaking from God, were shown in type in the O.T. with the urim and thummin.

We also have gifts of revelation, a word of wisdom, a word of knowledge, discernment of spirits... and through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, Jesus speaks to our minds revelations that we need. In the O.T. this was done with the urim and thummin.

The High Priest was necessary, the breast plate was necessary, and these two stones were necessary for the answers so desired. In the N.T., we have the gifts of the Spirit, the eternal and ever present Jesus abiding within us, so all of us can have spiritual gifts greater than the urim and thummin that were 'types and shadows' of the real we now have.

Abiathar (the only surviving priest of the line of Eli) fled to David with the ephod, having escaped being killed at Nob. David, using these parts of the High Priest’s garments, ascertained the purpose of the men of Keilah was to deliver David up to Saul. (I Samuel 23:6).

At Ziglag, David again consulted the Lord’s answer through Abiathar and the garments, and obtained a favorable answer. (I Samuel 30:7-8)

Later, David enquired of the Lord, and obtained favorable answers. (II Samuel 2:1). In these three cases, the ark of the covenant was not with David, only the priest and the breastplate on the ephod, with the urim and thummin within it.

God spoke to His people, answered their questions, gave judgment of situations, via the garments of the High Priest.

The breastplate, is called the ‘breastplate of judgment’, and yet, too many have viewed and studied such breastplate, as though it were only a decorative item of clothing.

It was so much more, and we need to see what God is showing us in ‘shadow’, in type, and in symbolism, with the breastplate, and the two (seldom mentioned) stones that were carried within it.


We do not receive a literal breastplate to wear, nor do we receive literal urim and thummin. Yet, there are the spiritual gifts, that those things represented, that we can receive in this age.

We need to see what they represent, what they teach to us, so as to be cognitive of the blessings Jesus bestows to us, ministered to us by the Holy Spirit, and planned by God for us.
　
The URIM and the THUMMIN​

　

Exodus 28:30
"And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment, the urim and thummin; and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart when he goeth in before the Lord; and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart continually."

The breastplate and its contents, the urim and thummim, were over the ‘heart’ of Aaron. The ones to whom we minister must be upon our hearts, must be carried as something for which we have a great loving burden, if we want to have these gifts bestowed upon us in these days.

The breastplate was folded so as to form a bag, a pocket, and the urim and thummin were placed within it.

"Urim" means ‘lights, enlightenment".

It is the Hebrew word ‘uwriym’, the plural of ‘uwr’. ‘Uwr’ means ‘light, flame, to enlighten, to set on fire.’

Urim is also translated ‘fire’ in Isaiah 24:15 ‘wherefore glorify ye the Lord in the fires.", and in Isaiah 31:9 ‘his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, whose ‘fire’ is in Zion."

"Thummin" means ‘perfection, integrity."

This is from the Hebrew word ‘tummiym’ which is the plural of ‘tom’. "Tom’ means ‘completeness, innocence, and integrity, upright, perfect.’

In the Septuaguint, these words are translated with the Greek words ‘delosis’ and ‘aletheia’, meaning ‘manifestation and truth".

These were already made when Moses told about them, and who made them, from where they came, is not told.

The High Priest, with the urim and thummin, became the channel by which God would speak and manifest His opinions and decisions. The High Priest could have been judged harshly for decisions he would have to make.

James 1:17 shows that God is called ‘the Father of lights, from Whom every good and every perfect gift cometh down."

　
Operation of the urim and thummin​

Supposedly, Joseph Smith received plates and instruments called ‘interpreters’ (urim and thummin) which helped him translate the ‘reformed Egyptian’ and made from that the ‘Book of Mormon" on September 22, 1827. This is, of course, not truth.

There are three channels by which God spoke in the Old Testament. We find them revealed in I Samuel 28:6:
"When Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, (1) neither by dreams,
(2) nor by urim,
(3) nor by prophets."


In Numbers 27:21, Eleazar, the priest was to ask counsel for Joshua ‘after the judgment of the urim, before the Lord.’

Moses had authority over the High Priest, but Joshua was to ask counsel of the High Priest through the urim and thummin. Joshua later failed to get such counsel later and was deceived by the Gibeonites.

The tradition told by the Rabbi’s was that the High Priest put on his robes and went in to the inner veil. Facing the veil, all alone, with the person wanting to know the answer standing outside. The High Priest would inquire of God, speaking audibly. Then he would withdraw the urim and thummin, and somehow receive the answer. The rabbis indicated that the shining of the stones, one or both, in some way indicated an answer.

Josephus said– ‘Now the breastplate and this sardonyx left off shining 200 years before I composed this book."

Some have in great error thought that we can substitute these ‘urim and thummin’ with the ‘flip of a coin’, or the ‘tossing of dice’ to get answers. That may be an easy way to get ‘an’ answer, but these stones represent the wise, personal, direct, and perfect enlightenment that the Lord Himself wants to convey upon those who carry His people upon their heart in love.


In Jesus, we find all the lights and perfections, all the grace and truth, all the mercies and righteousness.

Jesus is the LIGHT, and Jesus manifests forth that light. He is urim.

Also, in Jesus, we find ‘PERFECTIONS’. He is the thummin.

Jesus is the unblemished Lamb of God. He lived a sinless life, tempted of the devil himself, but unblemished, unsoiled by sin. Jesus, as the great High Priest, made manifest the counsels and purposes of God. He is the light to our lives, He has no darkness at all. He is the brightness or shining forth of God’s glory. He dwells within His people, as the urim and thummin were within the breastplate of the twelve stones. And looking to Him, we find all the answers to our problems.

The word ‘urim’ begins with the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the ‘aleph’.

The word ‘thummin’ begins with the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet, the ‘tau’.

Jesus spoke saying ‘I am the alpha and omega’ (Rev. 22:13). These are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. Likely, Jesus spoke it in Hebrew, and it was translated into the Greek by John. So, what Jesus said, was "I am the aleph and the tau."

Jesus said also:
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end." Rev. 1:8
"...saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last."

Rev. 1:11
"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end." Rev 21:6...

Is there correlation between the urim and thummin, and the words of Jesus there? Jesus said He was the ‘beginning’ (arche, Greek)... and He said He was the ‘first’ (protos, Greek)... He also said He was the ‘end’ (telos, Greek) and the ‘last’ (eschatos, Greek) ‘Arche’ means ‘the first cause, the opposite of ‘telos’. ‘Protos’ means the ‘first of several, the earliest, the most important.’ These words bear a striking similarity to the words ‘urim and thummin’, and the fact that both sets are the first and last letters of the particular alphabet, also bears noting.


So, Jesus seems to be showing us, that He is the fulfilment of the ‘urim and thummin’. He is the ‘first’ (the original picture type, and He is the ‘last’, (the final fulfillment of the type.)

He is the One predicted to come, Who would speak for the God of heaven, giving mankind the answers they desire to have.

Jesus is seen in the vision of the Son of man in Rev. 1:12-16, to be the High Priest, in the midst of the seven churches, and the ‘eyes’ are seen to be as a ‘flame of fire’ (‘urim’ means ‘fires’). The ‘eyes’ of the Lord, there, searched the ways of the ‘seven churches’, judging their works and faith.

The breastplate was called the ‘breastplate of judgment’, for the urim and thummin were used to judge.

Revelation 19:12
"...eyes were as a flame of fire..."

Daniel 10:6
"... eyes were lamps of fire"

The urim and thummin were types of Jesus as He was to come. He is our Judge, He answers our questions, He sees as with eyes of fire into our souls, and He dwells amidst His people, as the urim and thummin dwelt within the breastplate of twelve stones.

The urim and thummin were instruments ordained of God, kept hidden within the pouch of the breastplate. This breastplate was worn only when the High Priest was clothed with the ephod. The urim and thummin were used to find God’s will and guidance. God’s decisions were ascertained with the use of the breastplate and the hidden stones within, were the most vital part of the breastplate.

We, in this age, in the various ministries to which we are called, have Jesus dwelling within us. He has all the answers to the various problems we encounter with those that are on the breastplate. We need enlightenment and wisdom from the Lord, and Jesus is there to speak to us, His guidance, His judgments of the situations. How blessed we are to be in this kind of ministry. The answers are there, abiding within us, upon our heart.

Jesus sent back the Holy Spirit and His gifts so as to empower us to speak for Him, to deliver His words of blessing and of revelation.

THE HOLY SPIRIT'S BESTOWMENT
OF A LIVE COAL OF FIRE FOR OUR LIPS


Isaiah 6:5-7 (KJV)
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.


When Isaiah confessed his uncleanliness in words spoken, a seraphim brought from God a ‘coal of fire’ to put upon Isaiah’s lips. The fire removed the sin of Isaiah, cleansing the filth that had flowed from his lips previously.

Isaiah’s sin was a lip and tongue sin.

There is no other member of the body that is easily encouraged to sin.

For instance, David had once proclaimed ‘All men are liars.’ (Psalms 106:2), and unfortunately, at sometime in every life that is quite an unfortunate truth.


Peter had a self assertive tongue. He listened to the Lord’s description of how he would fail the Lord, and Peter proclaimed ‘not I’. That lie was unintentional, but was a prideful, and was blasphemous to assert that Jesus had told an untruth.


Nebuchadnezzar had a proud tongue, and proclaimed ‘Is not this the great Babylon which I built." (Daniel 4:30)


Paul spoke of the gossiping tongues of some. "And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. (1 Timothy 5:13)

Gideon had a questioning tongue of doubt. "And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of...?" (Judges 6:12-13)

Jonah had a fiery tongue of temper. "But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry. And he prayed... I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God,... Therefore now, O LORD, take, I beseech thee, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live..." (Jonah 4:1-3)

We are commanded to ‘put off’ the filthy talk from our lives.

Colossians 3:8-10 (KJV)
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:


Isaiah had probably had filthy words, lying words, blasphemous words, doubting words, angry words, etc.

He felt unclean due to the horrible words that had flowed through his lips.

It took the fiery coals, to spiritually cleanse his lips so he would be able to be the prophet that God wanted him to become.

We want to be prophetic for the Lord, spokespersons for the Lord in these last days, so that many would come to the Lord. We need a fiery cleansing.

What do the fiery coals symbolize?


Fire reveals the presence of the Lord.

Just as fire does many things, good and seemingly bad, so the symbol of fire is mainly a symbol of the presence of God that does all those things.

1. God revealed Himself in the form of a smoking furnace and a burning lamp when He renewed His covenant with Abraham.

Genesis 15:17-18 (KJV)
17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.
18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:


2. The burning bush revealed the presence of God to Moses.

Exodus 3:2 (KJV)
2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.


3. The fire by day over the tabernacle revealed the presence of God leading the children of Israel.


Exodus 13:21-22 (KJV)
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.


4. On the day of Pentecost, ‘tongues of fire’ came and sat
upon all of those who were filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:3-4 (KJV)
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.


Sometimes the presence of God reveals His approval.


1. At the Tabernacle, fire showed God’s approval. The fire consumed the offering, and showed that God had approved and had accepted the repentance of the people.

Leviticus 9:24 (KJV)
24 And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.


2. Fire showed God’s approval of the Temple at its dedication.

2 Chronicles 7:1-3 (KJV)
1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.
3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.


3. Fire on Mt. Carmel showed acceptance of Elijah’s sacrifice.


1 Kings 18:37-38 (KJV)
37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

part 2 BESTOWMENT OF COALS OF FIRE


Sometimes the presence of God brings God’s judgment.

1. God’s presence at the site of Sodom and Gomorrah’s sin brought judgment.

Genesis 19:24 (KJV)
24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;


2. Nadab and Abihu, sons of Aaron offered strange fire on the altar of incense, and fire from God, showing His presence brought judgment.

Leviticus 10:1-2 (KJV)
1 And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.
2 And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.


Sometimes the presence of God brings testing and purification.


1. Fire purifies as a refiner’s fire purifies the metal.

Malachi 3:1-3 (KJV)
1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:
3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.


2. As Jesus looked over the seven churches, His eyes were as a ‘flame of fire’ in His work of discussing their purification.


Revelation 1:14-16 (KJV)
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.


Fire purifies the dross of pride.

It burns the rags of self-righteousness.

Fire burns the leaves of empty profession.

The stubble of doubt is burned by God’s fire of purification.

The thorns of a prickly temper are burnt by God’s presence in fire.

The filth of an unholy life are to be burnt from us.

The useless chaff is said to someday be burnt.

The roots of bitterness are to be burnt away.

Fire is often used to describe the purification process. When God approaches the sinful and unclean, like a fire, He purifies or judges. He prefers to purify.


3. The trial of our faith, done by the presence of the Lord, is done by fire.

4. God’s presence brings a shaking, a fire of judgment of sin. He consumes sin in His presence.

Hebrews 12:29 (KJV)
29 For our God is a consuming fire.


The presence of God, in our words quoted from God, are like a fire.


1. The words of God were like fire when they His word flowed through Jeremiah’s lips.

Jeremiah 5:14 (KJV)
14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make My words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.


2. Jeremiah confirmed that there was a ‘burning fire’ inside him, demanding to flow out of his lips.

Jeremiah 20:9 (KJV)
9 Then I said, I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His name. But His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.


The presence of God illuminates, as does a fire.

1. God led Israel by the ‘fire’ over the Tabernacle. We need to be led by the Lord too, and He gives His presence, to lead us thereby.

Psalm 78:14 (KJV)
14 In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.


2. Moses’ face was illuminated by the presence of God.

Exodus 34:35 (KJV)
35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.


3. The presence of the Lord is in the Word of God, for it is His living Word. His Word illuminates us, giving us insight to the why, how, when, of the events of our lives. His Word illuminates with answers and directions.

Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.


So, what were these burning coals
that Isaiah received upon his lips?​



The passage says that ‘mine eyes have seen the King’, so the presence of the Lord was there. The presence was accompanied with fire, fire to cleanse the unclean lips of Isaiah.

This fire was God’s approval of Isaiah as chosen to be a prophet for the Lord. He was to receive great visions of God’s messages for all the ages.

The fiery coals were showing God’s choice of a vessel, i.e. Isaiah, to bless.


This fire was God’s judgment on the sins of the tongue that Isaiah had committed. God did not approve of the sin, though He approved of the choice of Isaiah for His work. Sin needed judged, but Isaiah received mercy and the calling of God. The purification of the vessel chosen by God was necessary, so that the words that would flow from him would be God’s holy and pure words. The fiery coals typified the purification and judgment of the impure words.


Isaiah was going to be quoting words from God, writing a prophetic book for the ages, and those words would burn then like fire, and down through the ages have continued to burn like fire. The fire upon his lips typified that.


Isaiah was illuminated by those coals of fire, for when God then called for a volunteer, Isaiah jumped for the opportunity to serve this God.

Isaiah 6:7-8 (KJV)
7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.


The fiery coals, the presence of God brings judgment, purification, approval, and illumination.

From that day forward, the words of fire from God’s presence, flowed from Isaiah.

The Holy Spirit still bestows 'fiery coals' upon us. Thank God for this gift if you've received it. Beg and plead for it, if you haven't.

The Holy Spirit want to bestow a Hedge.



　
The Lord wants to bestow many gifts to His own children. He wants us to do great things for Him. He wants us empowered and authorized to have signs and wonders following our ministries.

God knows that the devil will be our enemy, and oppose us at every opportunity. We need gifts to enable us to withstand the devil, and to take what he is claiming is his.


One thing we need, and it is offered as a bestowment of God to us, is a hedge of protection. The Holy Spirit wants to encircle us, as a hedge against the attacks of the enemy, i.e. the devil.

Job needed one, and when it was temporarily removed, we can see in his life’s events what the devil would like to do to us. The devil complained about this hedge.


The devil said to God:
Job 1:10
"Hast not Thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land."


God gave Job a hedge of protection. It was a bestowment of protection, that the devil, without permission, could not breach. We need protection for we battle evil spirits, we live in a world hostile to Christians, and we have to be attentive to our work, not to finding a safe locale in which to hide.


Vineyards were sometimes fenced with a wall of stone, or thorny plants. Sometimes it was a combination of both.

Sometimes, they used mud bricks that were three foot by three foot, and six foot long. On top of these mud bricks were planted thorny bushes. This wall of mud and thorns kept intruders outside.

The little foxes could not squeeze through the thorns without doing major damage to their bodies.


This hedge is described with the Greek word - "phragmos." This is the word for "a fence, a wall, a hedge."


God is a good husbandman, Who lovingly tends and cares for His vineyard. Jesus said that "I am the vine, and ye are the branches". In this way, He identified us as part of the vineyard with which God is now concerned. Israel had been that vineyard, but at least temporarily, they are "cut off", and the Gentile church has been "grafted in".


Romans 11:22-23
"Behold, therefore, the goodness and the severity of God, on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in His goodness; otherwise, thou also shalt be cut off... if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in..."


He does all that He can for His vineyard (which we are a part). He is a good husbandman. He lovingly tends and cares for His vineyard. He does all He can to protect His vines. As ministers in these last days, God knows that His vineyard will need protection. The hedge about His vineyard is necessary, and we should ask Him for it. After receiving it, it is necessary to make sure we don’t allow breaches in it, due to sin.


Zechariah 2:8
"He that touches you, touches the apple of His eye."

Isaiah 54:17
"No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment Thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of Me, saith the Lord."

Romans 8:28
"All things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose."


Psalms 91:1-2
"He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress."


The enemy that we face is the devil and his forces.

They go about "as a roaring lion, seeking ... to devour." (I Peter 5:8)

God puts hedges about His saints. These hedges can be gapped or broken down by our sins, and the devil may send in attacking forces to devour and destroy.


Now, before the tribulation, God will keep the hedges up. Barring our sin, He will not allow us to suffer unaided attacks of the devil.

Soon, the Lord will call this vineyard (called the "church") home to heaven, while He works to restore Israel back into the vineyard.

The wrath that comes to them until they fill the gapped hedge of protection, is not meant for the church. Thus, during that time, the Gentiles that are saved during the tribulation, will not have a hedge of protection about them. The Lord will allow the devil to kill them, and thus they will go to heaven, where God wants them to be anyhow.

The purpose of the hedge now, is to allow fruit to be produced by the vineyard. The time of the fruitfulness of the church will be over at the rapture. All of the Gentiles saved after the rapture, God allows to die and go to heaven with the rest of us.

Revelation 13:7
"And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.


Some, who think it will be easy to get saved after the tribulation, had better beware. Even if you survive the war that starts the tribulation, you will die after you finally accept the Lord, and the Lord will not put a hedge of protection to keep you from being beheaded, shot, stabbed, etc.


So this ‘hedge’ is limited to those who do not put gaps in it by choosing to allow the devil access inside this hedge about us. God freely wants to give this hedge, but we must be sure we don’t fail to keep it. After the rapture, those saved then, will not have a hedge. God wants all saints in heaven, and new saints will then be allowed to be killed, so that they will go to heaven.


Sin lowers or makes an opening in the hedge called a "gap".

Our loved ones, our children, our mates, our associates, our relatives, our church friends, our neighbors may lower the hedge and play with sin.

They don't realize how dangerous it is. Wicked demonic forces await outside the hedge for opportunities to get through and devour the vineyard of God.


So what can we do to protect ourselves from losing our hedge, or to keep those we love from losing theirs? How do we protect our church congregations when gossip, backbiters, critics, spiritual abusers, hypocrites, are at work creating gaps in the hedge about the church?

We pray, intercede, and supplicate to God.

We are definitely told that we have power over the enemy. Wicked spirits attack Christians, Jews, Jerusalem, church leaders, as much as they can. The spiritual hedges about these are the protection that God wants. Praying a hedge about these ones the devil wants to attack will give protection.

James 4:7
"Resist the devil, and he will flee from you..."


God wants us to keep ourselves, and our loved ones within hedges. This is why God tells us to intercede for our leaders, for our loved ones, for Jerusalem and Israel. Intercession builds up the hedges, and fills the gaps caused by sin in the hedges.


Isaiah 26:1-3
"We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks... Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee."


Isaiah 60:18
"Violence shall no more be heard in the land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls salvation, and thy gates praise."


The devil complained of the hedge. Job was protected by the hedge about him, for he was a great intercessor. The devil did not like it.

Job 1:10
"Hast not Thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land."


God is "no respecter of persons." We too have, or can have, a hedge of protection about us and our loved ones. However, a gap can appear in the hedge, A gap was made in Job's hedge for testing purposes. Gaps can come to our hedges also.


There are three reasons for gaps in the hedges.

a. A test which God is allowing for a time.

b. A sin which put a gap in the hedge.

c. Fruitlessness, which causes God to put a gap in the hedge since the vineyard proved worthless and fruitless.


God desires fruit from His vineyard. He is greatly desirous of fruit, and if it does not come, He will "take away the hedge."


Isaiah 5:5
"I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard; I will take away the hedge thereof, and it (the vineyard) shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down."


Sin gaps the hedge, so the enemy, the devourer, can get inside to do the destruction. God has provided the hedge to protect what He loves.


Isaiah 5:4
"What could have been done more to My vineyard that I have not done in it? Wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, it brought forth wild grapes."


Much sickness, trouble, and suffering is unnecessary. Not all sickness is from sin. Some is a result of a test, as was Job's. But much sickness is a result of the lowering or gapping of the hedge. This unnecessary sickness is caused by sin or fruitlessness in the lives of Christians.


Israel sinned and the hedges were gapped.

Psalms 89:40
"Thou has broken down all his hedges."

Our prayer lives do have an effect. We are told that our prayers are not meaningless sound. Our prayers can keep a hedge about us, and about our loved ones.

James 5:16
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man, availeth much."

The prayers and intercession of David was still availing much many years after his death. In the years of Jeroboam, when God should have judged Jerusalem for its sins, He withheld judgment for "David's sake." Intercession will have its impact.

I Kings 11:12
"Notwithstanding, in thy days, I will not do it, for David thy Father's sake."

The intercession of Jesus for His disciples in Gethsemane had its effect. The eleven disciples that were left did survive the great trial. Even though they met temporary defeat, they all came back and were victorious after the resurrection.


Stephen interceded for those who were killing him. His intercession put a hedge about Saul of Tarsus, and this hedge protected Saul. Saul met Jesus on the road to Damascus. He became the great apostle to the Gentiles, Paul, because a deacon named Stephen interceded for him. If the intercessor had not done his loving praying for his stoners and the coat holder, the Lord would have judged Saul with death on the road to Damascus, and not blessed him with mercy. Intercession is vital.


Barnabus is called "the son of consolation." This word "consolation" is the Greek word - "paraklesis", which means "exhortation, comfort, advocate, or intercessor for..." Barnabus was the advocate, or intercessor for John Mark. He was also the intercessor for Paul in Jerusalem.


Moses interceded for Israel and they were not destroyed as the Lord had intended, but were allowed to die of old age in the wilderness. If it were not for the intercession of Moses, the children of Israel's history would have been drastically altered. What is altered in time, because of our intercessions?


Walls of the hedges are constantly being broken down. It is the mission of each Christian to build hedges about ourselves and our loved ones, and to keep the gaps filled with our intercessory prayers. One of the sins which often puts gaps within the hedges is a condemning spirit. To be a condemner tears down hedges.

Matthew 7:1
"Judge (condemn) not, that ye be not judged (condemned)."

Proverbs 18:8
"The words of a talebearer are as wounds."

Words are a spiritual attack by a critic. The criticism of another injures the hedge of the one criticized also. That is why, we need to often intercede for those with ministries that keep them in battles that invite criticism. Those who do the criticizing will face loss of their hedge, but their critical words will gap the hedges of the saints whom they criticize. We must pray for pastors, evangelists, prophets, and leaders who are frequently criticized.


When we are the one that is criticized, the way God teaches us to keep our hedge ungapped, is to pray for those who have criticized us. This is difficult, and yet, if undone, will hurt us... more than them.


Matthew 5:44
"Pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you..."

Any willful sin will break down a hedge.

Hebrews 10:26-27
"For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins (i.e. no more hedge), but rather a fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries."


The willful sin of not interceding for our loved ones, and the church congregation, etc. destroys the hedge they should have had. We need our own hedge, and they need us as intercessors to fill the gaps in their hedges. We had need beware of willfully sinning.

Surely, we are saved by grace, but we should not choose to sin, just because salvation is so easy. While we are in the willful sin, the hedge is broken; and the enemy, the devil, will come through the gaps to devour and destroy.


Broken hedges are a crisis. Hedges broken by sin, by failures of our intercessors, by sins against us, and by demonic attack, need constant repair and attention.


Sometime the devil tries the "Trojan horse trick." We may welcome some within the hedge, because we do not see the danger within them. The devil comes within most churches that way. He comes within the "tares" that he has sown in the church. These hypocrites, spiritual abusers, and false prophets may seem to have a "form of godliness." They may be respected, hold church offices, and give abundantly in the offerings. The devil uses them to hurt young Christians, and offend any who would protest their abuse. He will use them to start arguments on the choice of brick, the color of the carpet, etc. They will hinder and destroy any revival God tries to give to the church congregation.


God offers the ‘hedge’, it is available for those who are His own. We maintain His gift by intercession, by repenting of our own sins. We can request hedges for our loved ones, for sinners who have none, so that God can keep them safe till they have more opportunity to be saved themselves.

I do desire spiritual power, of course, but that is not the most important thing in my life. He will fill me with his Spirit when I am serving others, not myself (but, I was “baptized” in/of/by/with the Holy Spirit when he inducted me into the body of Christ). Personally, I am much more interested in the things God is interested in and the longer I serve him the more I am convinced he is not interested in bolstering my reputation as a man of faith and power. :)

Yes, you are right that to have a bolstered reputation, to be 'seen' as a man of faith and power, is not to be our goal.

If we wanted to be 'filled with the Spirit' to bolster a reputation, to be seen as a man of power and pride, we would never be filled.

Yet, we are commanded 'BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT', and when we are, we are promised to be 'ENDUED WITH POWER'... We should not want power to impress and uplift ourselves... we need power to battle the enemy, to win victories for Jesus, to see souls come to the kingdom, to see them discipled by the Holy Spirit, not by us, to victorious lives...

No where can I find the Scripture 'be SPRINKLED with the Spirit'... the Lord asks us to be filled... there is only a filling when the outflow is as great as the inflow... if we ever get full, and sit in pride, we would cease the inflow, and slowly become empty again... We need to have outflow of ministry, to have more inflow filling...

THE HOLY SPIRIT BESTOWS and/or FILLS US WITH MANY GIFTS...



Some have felt that the list of gifts in Corinthians are the only gifts of the Spirit... but the 'Spirit filled' life is one of multiple gifts in addition.

We are told to Come behind in no gift...


1 Corinthians 1:5-8 (KJV)
5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
　


We are not to ‘come behind’, i.e. lack, ‘no gift’ (charisma, bestowment, miraculous faculty).

All of us are to be serving, ministering for the Lord.

We need endowments of power in order to do all that the Lord would want us to do.

As we approach the ‘coming of the Lord’ we are to have endowments, gifts from the Lord.
　
The ‘gift of the Holy Spirit’ is given to them who ask, and the Spirit has many, many bestowments to share with us.

The ‘Spirit of Truth’ bestowment is one we definitely need in this world of lies.
　
The names that we are given in Scripture
for the Godhead, reveal much to us.​


Jesus is given nearly 200 names in Scripture, as Jesus, Savior, Lord, Christ, Messiah, Emmanuel, etc. Each one reveals an office, a service, a trait, or a fact about our blessed Lord.

God, the Father, revealed many names for Himself, as Elohim, Jehovah, Jehovah-nissi, Jehovah-rohi, etc. Each of these reveal to us facts about the nature of God.


The same is true for names given to us for the Holy Spirit.


Each name is designed to describe something to us about the Spirit.


Often, we also use titles to substitute for names.
If the car needs fixed, we need a mechanic.
If we are sick, we need a physician.
If our teeth need attention, we go to a dentist.
The name indicates the work which the person can do for us, and is really a title.
　
　
The Spirit is called many names or titles:

HOLY SPIRIT

The emphasis is on "holiness", and our Lord is a holy God.
If we come into contact and relationship with the Holy Spirit, we will come into a new holy relationship with the Lord. Holiness is found by relationship and fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 6:3 "Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty..."

Because of His holiness, you can expect Him to uncover, expose, and condemn sin. We need the Holy Spirit.

John 16:8
"And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin..."

The Holy Spirit reveals, and emanates, holiness. Without the Spirit's working, the convicting, the revealing, etc., we would not become HOLY. We will not develop holiness, apart from the works of the Spirit in our life.


SPIRIT OF GOD

Ephesians 4:30
"Grieve not the Spirit of God..."

I John 4:2
"Hereby know we the Spirit of God..."

This name shows that the Spirit has a relationship with the heavenly Father. As we develop a relationship with the Spirit, we have a Mediator between us and the Father.

We hear what the Lord God, and Jesus also, have to say to and about us, because of the Spirit of God.

The Spirit "proceeds from the Father" (John 15:26).
And thereby He can reveal the truth of God ("will guide you into all truth..." John 16:13).

This Spirit of God will guide us toward God (Romans 8:4). In order to have any relationship with the Father, you must have a relationship with the "Spirit of God."


SPIRIT OF CHRIST

Romans 8:9
"Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His..."

The Christ-life is imparted to us by the one known as the "Spirit of Christ." He reveals the things of Christ (John 16:14 "for He shall receive of Mine, and show it unto you..."

The Spirit will take the place of Christ, and be the comforter, advocate, and one who gives us strength to carry on...
(John 14:16 "He will give you another comforter...")
　
　
COMFORTER, ADVOCATE


The word for "Comforter" is the Greek word - paracletos. It means "one who walks alongside, an advocate..."

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and as we have a relationship with Him, we receive comfort, aid, and defence from Him. This name reveals another thing that the Spirit wants to give us.


HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE


The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Promise, for He is part of the fulfillment of the promise of the Lord, and as you develop a relationship with the Spirit, you will have more and more of the promises of God come to you.

Every promise of God is to be given to us by His Spirit.


SPIRIT OF GRACE


Hebrews 10:29 speaks of some who insult the "Spirit of Grace."

This name of the Spirit reveals to us that His nature and ministry is to bestow and share the grace of God with us.

We come into contact with grace, via the Spirit.

We continue to enjoy the grace of God, because of the Spirit.

The Spirit confers grace to us.
"Mercy" is "not receiving what we deserve," and "grace" is the "receiving of what we do not deserve."
We need both.

Jesus paid for the mercy we need, and the Spirit comes to bestow gifts of grace to us.

The gifts of the Spirit are the "charismata" (bestowments of grace).

No merit is needed, for they are received by grace, and that grace is given to us by the Spirit of grace...


SPIRIT OF LIFE


Romans 8:2
"For the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death..."


A relationship with the Spirit will bring us to a place wherein we can live free from the law of sin and its resultant death penalty. He quickens our bodies, and makes aware our spirits to live a life of righteousness, and holiness. Life in the spiritual realm is a product of a relationship with the Holy Spirit of the Lord... The Spirit of Life is a name that reminds us of that fact.


SPIRIT OF ADOPTION


Romans 8:15
"...but ye have received the Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry 'Abba Father'..."


One of the special works of the Spirit is to take "sons of the devil" and make them to become the "sons of God..."

As we develop our relationship with the Spirit, He encourages a close relationship with our Father... we cry "Abba Father" which is like us saying, "Daddy" or "Pop".

The closeness of our relationship with God is a result of the work of the Spirit of Adoption.

Adoption brings us to a place whereby we are legally "heirs" of God, a true part of the family and all its blessings.

We need this relationship with the Spirit of Adoption, and to share the "adoption" blessings from Him.


THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH​


This brings me now to a name that has been ignored, misunderstood, or neglected for too long. The Holy Spirit is called the 'Spirit of Truth'. If we are filled with the Spirit, we have truth, we speak truth, we find the Holy Spirit is at work revealing truth. Truth should be evident, felt, shown, and illustrated in our lives if we are FILLED with the SPIRIT OF TRUTH.

The Holy Spirit is about to do a work which will bring back into eminent position, the ministry of the Spirit of giving us His glorious TRUTH.

Often in Scriptures, the Holy Spirit is called the "SPIRIT OF TRUTH..."

John 15:26
"...when the Comforter is come, Whom I will send unto your from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth... He shall testify of Me..."

There is a grave need of the TRUTH in Christianity today.

There have been false prophets, false doctrines, errors of doctrine, hypocrites and hypocrisy galore, deception and half truths pervading the congregations of these last days.

God has never desired to have Christianity floundering in the midst of such lies and liars. He wants us to know the truth, live in the truth, and be in relationship with the Spirit of Truth.


I Timothy 2:4
"Who (God our Savior) will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth..."


Where the Lord is, in strength and power... there will be truth. Wherever God is in power and revival, truth will prevail. God will show forth the truth, the Spirit will reveal in His way the truth, and condemn the lies and false doctrines of the false prophets.


An Endowment of Truth


To have an endowment of the Spirit of Truth, is an endowment to be shown truth from error, the real from the deceitful, the pretend from the actual.

Too much deception is in this world.

We see it in the ‘advertising’ of the world, where products are claimed to be the ‘best’, the ‘cheapest’, and the ‘real’, when often they are far from best, overpriced, and counterfeit.

This lying creeps into the churches, into the congregations, and the Spirit of Truth is necessary for ministries, to detect truth, to avoid error.

Psalms 89:14
"...mercy and truth shall go before Thy face..."

Psalms 57:3
"...God shall send forth His mercy and His truth..."

When the truth of God prevails in the church, the power of God will also be manifest. If the truth of God is marred and leavened by the hypocrites of the church, the power of God will be hindered.

It is the presentation of the truth to the sinful of this world, and the power of God that accompanies such proclamations, that makes the consciences of mankind be sparked toward acceptance of the gospel.

II Corinthians 4:2
"...by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God..."


To bring TRUTH back into the ministry of the church, we need the SPIRIT OF TRUTH. He must minister TRUTH to us, and He alone can guide us to the truth. The neglect of this ministry of the Spirit has hindered, yes - even devastated - the church and its proclamation of the gospel.


John 16:13
"Howbeit, when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth..."


This is why the endowment of the Spirit of Truth into our ministries, is so vital, we need to be ‘guided into all truth."


Jesus says that He is the "truth" (John 14:6), and the Holy Spirit will reveal Him, and the truth to the church.

The Spirit of Truth has been trying to do such, and will increase His efforts in these last days.
We have seen Him bring a revival of intercessory prayer to the church of the last days, we have seen the Spirit bring a revival of charismatic gifts to the church. Both of these revivals are necessary.


The perversions of truth, the hypocrisy of the false prophets, and the deceptions of so-called Christians have devastated the church, and kept the revival of the last days from its true impact, and kept it from its glorious power that God wants to send.
　

Revival of Truth Is Needed to Bring Revival

It will take a judgment and a spiritual revival of the ministry of the Spirit of Truth to effect the last day revival as we desire it.

Isaiah 42:3
"He shall bring forth judgment unto truth..."

Zechariah 8:16
"...execute the judgment of truth and peace..."

Proverbs 16:6
"By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged..."

II Peter 2:2-3
"Many shall follow their pernicious ways (false doctrines that bring destruction), by reason of whom, the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you; whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not..."


This judgment upon the deceit, hypocrisy, lies, and false doctrines of the church in these last days - must come, in order that sanctification and revival might arrive in strength.


John 17:19
"And for their sakes, I sanctify Myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth..."


We cannot even truly hear the voice of God, be instructed by Him as we should, until we receive the truth as the Spirit of Truth seeks to impart to this last day revival.

John 18:37
"...Everyone that is of the truth heareth My voice..."

We have been spiritual garments to wear in our spiritual warfare against the devil, and if we are not in truth, as we should be, we are missing a very important part of that battle garb.


Ephesians 6:14
"having your loins girt about with truth..."


The church of these last days has much untruth, many lies, abundant false prophecies, and terrible wrong doctrines. The church has had a self-deception about such. Just as those who say they love God but hate their brother are in a self-deception that such is possible, so many other deceptions are in the church.


I John 1:8
"... we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us..."


The church is encouraged to get truth into our midst.

I John 3:18
"let us not love in word but... in truth..."
The Holy Spirit is bestowing revelations of truth, and those are stirring the church back to the Word of God, away from the lies, the deceptions, the evil lies of false prophets. The discernment of the Spirit will reveal truth, and expose lies. The word of knowledge will tell us truth, and expose the lies of false prophets. The word of wisdom will reveal the hearts and motives of those speaking truth, and of those speaking lies.

There is a bestowment of truth beginning to flood the church. The Holy Spirit is the 'SPIRIT OF TRUTH' and He is doing His job. Watch as lies are exposed, and the deceivers in the church are discerned.

The World Cannot Find Truth, cannot find the Gift of the Spirit of Truth, so they receive the 'spirit of error' from the devil.


The world will never get truth, the way the church is supposed to have it.

The world, commerce, business, politicians, courts, doctors, all have many deceptions, lies, and prevarications. It is normal for them. They do not even understand the need for unadulterated truth.

Many of them have the 'spirit of error' instead of being gifted with the Spirit of Truth...


John 14:17
"Even the Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive..."


The world, and much of the church, have perverted TRUTH.

The Bible speaks of this happening within and about the church...

Romans 1:25
"...who changed the truth into a lie..."

Romans 2:8
"unto them that... do not obey the truth..."

Galatians 2:14
"walked not...according to the truth..."

II Thessalonians 2:10
"...because they received not...love of the truth..."

I Timothy 6:5
"...disputings of men... destitute of the truth..."

II Timothy 3:8
"...so do these also resist the truth..."


II Timothy 4:4
"shall turn away ears from the truth..."


Titus 1:14

The spirit of error is found far too often in Christian circles. It is not from God, not one of His gifts to us,
and is only eradicated, as we receive the 'gift of the Spirit of Truth.'
1 John 4:6 (KJV)
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.


When we speak ‘truth’ that is received from the Spirit of Truth, the message will be heard, accepted, recognized as from God.

Those who do not receive it, are recognized as being in deception of the ‘spirit of error.’

The warning in the book of Hebrews is frightening:

Hebrews 10:26-27
"For if we sin willfully, after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."


There is a "spirit of error" at work in the world, and definitely within the church of the last days.

Most warnings in the Bible of "false prophets" are given to the last day period.

This "spirit of error" (I John 4:6) is devastating, and deceiving many within the church.


There needs to be a great repentance of the church for accepting the deceptive doctrines, and false prophecies of this "spirit of error."

After the church has repented, the truth will become more known, and the Spirit of Truth will not be so grieved by the false, the lies, the prevarications within Christianity that He is hindered in His revelation of truth.

II Timothy 2:25
"In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth..."


The Spirit of Truth is doing a great work in these last days, and His next emphasis will be to make us more and more aware of the truth. Just as He has given gifts to the church, He is now seeking to give ALL TRUTH to the church.



If we repent of the falsity of the church, if we seek to abandon hypocrisy in all its forms, if we agree to not be blatant with our revelations of truth in opposing lies, liars, hypocrites, and false prophets, the Spirit of Truth will begin to reveal much to you.


How we handle such truth will determine if we grieve the Spirit of Truth and cease to receive such revelations.

Notice that the Bible says "in meekness" (II Tim. 2:25) we are to instruct.

We must sometimes "swallow hard", and act as though we do not know the Truth.

We must often allow the liars to go unscolded, unhindered in their work, allowing the Spirit to do His work, His way!

The Holy Spirit will reveal truth, and cause a separation between the hypocrites, liars, and false prophets.

He will cleanse the church of them by the harvest of tares (Matthew 13), and He will have this church which has received the truth proceed to the double portion of the latter rain revival, and be truly ready for the rapture of the church.

Many years ago, the Spirit of Truth tried to "bless" me with this gift in a fullness that scared me.

When someone spoke a lie, I would sense the Spirit of Truth telling me that it was a lie. I was instructed by the Spirit to not show that I knew it was a lie (usually). I had to be "meek" and suffer the pain of the knowledge. It hurt so much to know every lie, that I finally asked God to only tell me such if I really needed to know - otherwise to allow me to be lied to - unawares.

The Lord did grant my request, and only at times has the Spirit informed me of lies and liars.

Recently, I have been taught of the Spirit of Truth, that I have hindered His work in my life by that partial rejection of His gift. I am now being shown the importance that "truth-awareness" in the ministry of the gospel.


The Spirit of Truth revealed to Peter when Ananias and Sapphira brought their gifts to the church and lied.


Jesus knew when the woman at the well was being partially deceptive with Him.

Jesus was aware of the source of Peter's words when He told Peter, 'Get thee behind me, Satan...'

Jesus spoke angrily to the Pharisees and scribes (calling them vipers and serpents) when they deceptively tried to trick Jesus with their questions.

The Spirit of Truth wants Christians today to know the truth, live the truth, and recognize the deceitful, hypocritical, false prevarications in the church today.


The Spirit of Truth is restoring the fullness of this gift to many in these last days. He wants to eliminate the false doctrines, the self-deception, the hypocrisy, and expose the hidden tares of the last day revival period. The "tares" have grown amidst the wheat unnoticed for many centuries. Now as the wheat nears its harvest in the rapture, the wheat is turning "white", and the tares are turning "black." This is indicative of the revelation of truth, and the revelation of who are the tares...


Matthew 13:26
"But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also..."

For a number of years, the Holy Spirit has been showing me congregation, after congregation, revealing truth, or its lack, within each. The lies, hypocrisy, deception, false doctrines, apostasy, hidden within was exposed to me in various ways by the Spirit of Truth.


The Spirit of Truths’ Method To Change Errant Churches

The Spirit of Truth has shown and taught me much during the last few years. Now that I am more fully understand His message, and the shockingly sinful state of many congregations, I am being shown some of the Spirit's methods of changing the horrible sins.


An increased revelation of truth will be given to all saints who desire it.

I Corinthians 14:1
"...desire spiritual gifts..."


This gift will then remain with those who do not grieve the Spirit of Truth by misusing the gift.


Ephesians 4:25-32
"Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor; for we are all members one of another. Be ye angry and sin not... Neither give place to the devil... Let no corrupt communication proceed from your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God... Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you..."


If we follow those instructions, we will not grieve the Spirit of Truth... and the gift will remain, and do a work the church so desperately needs. The Spirit of Truth desires us to know "all truth" in these last days... A double portion of truth is upon us.

some gifts come with salvation... the filling with the Spirit makes them more manifest, more useable in ministry... some will be added as we continue in ministry... the Lord adds more and more gifts as we need them, as our ministries enlarge, and grow...

In Paul's ministry, he seems to have all of them... but I doubt he had all in operation on the day he was first filled with the Holy Spirit... they were added one by one as he needed them...

we do not possess them, the Holy Spirit does, and uses them through us, AS HE WILLS...

THE HORNS OF RAMS

The horns of the rams were greatly valued. In the Bible lands, the rams horns are considered of great significance.


One use of the ram’s horn was as a vessel in which to carry liquids. A wooden plug was driven into the large end of the horn to close it. Sometimes raw hide covered it to hold it in place. The small pointed end of the horn was removed and closed up with a stopper. This horn was often used then to carry oil.

Samuel used his horn of oil to anoint David to become the king. (1Sam. 16:1)
Solomon was anointed king by the oil of Zadok’s horn. (1Kings 1:39).
Shepherds, like David, used oil from their horns to anoint the head wounds of their sheep.

Another common use of the ram's horn was the making of a trumpet, oft called a shofar.

The Law called for rams' horns to be blown at necessary times.

Each year of Jubilee began with the blowing of these ram’s horns, i.e. shofars.

Leviticus 25:9 (KJV)
9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.


During the Feast of Trumpets there was to be "a day of blowing the trumpets"

Numbers 29:1 (KJV)
1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.


Another famous use of this shofar trumpet was at the destruction of Jericho.

Joshua 6:1-5 (KJV)
1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.
2 And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.


The shofar trumpets were used to signal the gathering of the people.


Jeremiah 4:5 (KJV)
5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defensed cities.


DESCRIPTION OF THE RAM’S HORN
The ram's horn trumpet measured often to be eighteen inches long. It was made from a left horn of the fat-tailed sheep. This horn was curved backwards, and forming nearly a circle. To make it the right shape, it was softened by hot water. Then it could be molded into the form to be used by the priests.
　

THE SHOFAR TRUMPETS OF GIDEON’S 300
In Judges chapter 7, we read the story of Gideon. The trumpets of that time sounded by the 300, announced that they were to break the pitchers, and the ‘lamps’ (smoldering torches) would burst into flame when the pitchers were broken.

Gideon had started with 32,000 in his army. Of that number, 22,000 decided they were afraid, and went home. Of the 10,000 that were left, 9700 proved not to be anxious for the battle, and Gideon told them to go home. There were only 300 left, and there were 300 victors.

The call to ministry today is similar.
Many would rather just say ‘grace’ at the dinner table, and then, only if no unsaved are noticing.
Some would rather pray only for their own needs.
Some will only witness if the person actually begs to be witnessed to.
So, the number of ministers of the Lord is small.

Like Gideon’s army, many forsake and go home.

This 300 were going up against over a hundred thousand of the enemy. They were anxious to minister for the Lord. They were the ones to have a trumpet bestowed upon them, to use for the Lord.

Today, one third of the world claims to be Christian. In the United States, 70% claim to be Christian. Yet, when the battles come, very few will prove to be warriors in the Lord’s army. The enemy was 135,000 strong. The 300 of Gideon’s army seems totally outnumbered in human standards. The 300 could have looked at how they were so out-numbered, and wanted to flee with the other 31,700 who had already gone home. But their faith was in the trumpet that they had bestowed to them for the battle.



Judges 7:16-22 (KJV)
16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.
18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.
19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.
20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.
21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.
22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.


We find some beautiful typology in this story. We too are few who are in the army of the Lord, and are outnumbered in this last day as we battle the devil’s forces.

We live at a time of having an empty pitcher. The pitcher was a ‘kad’ (Hebrew), which was a pail of earthenware. It speaks of the gospel message having been poured out. The devil, over the years, has tried to pollute the pitchers, tried to poison its contents, and tried to dry up its contents.

Yet, some have remained true to pouring out the message of the gospel. The three hundred with empty pitchers were the ones who were faithful to pour out the true gospel.


Judges 7:16 calls these pitchers ‘empty’. This is the Hebrew word ‘Riyq’ (reek), meaning ‘poured out.’ Saints have poured out the message.


Now, empty of that message, the pitcher is to be ‘broken’.

The word for ‘brake’ is the Hebrew word ‘naw-phats’, meaning to ‘dash in pieces’. The vessel bearing what was poured out is to soon be broken. It is not what that poured out that is broken, but only the vessel. We are the vessel that has been pouring out the message. The breaking process is hard. We could not change our message, and now that it is poured out, we have another great work to do, and to do it, we need to be broken.


The broken pitcher is only a vessel. It is only as useful as what it holds. When emptied and finished, it is of no value. It can then be broken, for its work is over. We have presented the gospel, yet, many rebel and sin still.

The breaking of our empty pitcher can seem to be painful.

Jesus was broken in Gethsemane, for His work was coming to an end.

Jeremiah was in pit, the sewer of a prison, and there surely felt like the broken pitcher.

Joseph was put, by his brothers, into a well, and then sold into slavery.

Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael were put into a fiery furnace. Job spent two years, destitute of wealth, grieving for his murdered children, nagged by a faithless wife, taunted by prideful friends, and aching from boils upon his body.

Paul sat in prison waiting to be beheaded.

John was put on a prison island.


None of them were finished, all had ministry to yet do for the Lord. The ones with the empty pitchers of the last days, will be broken, and yet, the smoldering torch within will burst into flame, and more work for the Lord can then be done.

Our ‘smoldering torch’ inside the empty pitcher, is the hope of victory that we have.

The hope of victory is a reason we continue in ministry. This is not meaningless, nor hopeless work. We know that there will be a victory that will come.


When the pitcher was broken in Gideon’s time, there was inside that . This lamp would burst into flame when the pitcher was smoldering torch broken. When we come to our broken time, we will find the smoldering power of the Lord, will burst into the double portion power time of God.



MANY TRUMPETS TO COME



The events of the last days, all start with a ‘trumpet’.

The subject of ‘trumpets’ has been given the poorest of exegesis. What most fail to realize is that there are many ‘trumpets’ to be sounded in the time of God’s working with mankind.


The last trump


I Corinthians 15:52
"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.’



This event is called the ‘last’ trump, and yet, there are seven later trumpet soundings as judgments in the tribulation.

There are multiple trumpet soundings, The seven trumpets of Revelation are trumpets of judgment. There are trumpets of alert, of alarm, of announcement, etc.

The ‘last’ trump of I Corinthians is the last of a series of trumpets sounded in the last days, for the army of God.

Last day trumpets


Joel 2:1 tells of a last day call for trumpets to be sounded.
"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain, let all the inhabitants tremble; for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand."


This ‘trumpet’ is a ‘shofar’ trumpet, that is called to be sounded in the heavenly ‘Zion’. On that ‘holy mountain’, where the throne of God is, trumpets of warning are to be sounded in the last days.


The silver trumpets (hacoceroth) of the temple were used to summon the people. These were straight, not curved metal, and was blown only by the priests. In length they were not quite a yard long. They were sounded for celebrations and gatherings. Yet, in Joel 2:1, this was a ‘shofar’ trumpet, that sounded alarm, warning of war.


The ‘shofar’ originally was used only for warlike purposes, warning of the approach of the enemy. It sounded often throughout the battles. It sometimes sounded recall. It was blown to announce a proclamation of the law. It announced the year of jubilee. It heralded the approach of the Ark of the covenant. It hailed a new king. It announced the time of judgment. These were all types, to be fulfilled in the many soundings of trumpets on heavenly Zion in these last days.

Hi, I haven't been on here for a long time but I just wanted to share my experience with you. This thread is amazing - I want to come back and read it properly later but before doing so just wanted to share my story.

This last week I've been doing a Dunamis course all about the Holy Spirt - how wonderful He is, what He can do, how He is ignored but is a vital part of the Holy Trinity, how He can empower us to do things we could never do ourselves. He ALWAYS points to Jesus Christ. Now this precious Holy Spirit wants us to carry out Jesus' work here on earth. So we have the Holy Spirit in us all the time bearing fruit within us and we can have the Holy Spirit upon us, bestowing gifts for empowerment. These are 2 seperate things (sorry if this has all been covered beforehand - as I said I haven't seen the whole thread and this is all news to me - I'm just excited!).

We had sound, comprehensive scriptural teaching, were prayed with/for and learned a whole lot more about Him. It culminated really on Thursday afternoon where we could ask to be Infilled - after speaking to the Leaders beforehand I have already been Baptised when I started speaking in tongues spontaneously. I went forward, was anointed with a cross on my forehead and was asked if I want more of God - my answer was an emphatic yes, I'm desperate for him and the next thing I knew the Holy Spirit had me flat on my back .... and no catcher managed to get to me! I prayed in tongues, felt many emotions such as grief, love, peace, joy and eventually, after 30 minutes or so, my infilling was complete. The infilling was beautiful but I have learned not to dwell on the physical signs of what happened but focus on the way my spirit is and how I am compared to how I was.

I can only say I feel full of love for Jesus and have been singing and singing (good job I've got the house to myself right now!) We had worship yesterday and I found myself firstly dancing around at the back waving a flag which is very out of character and then either on my knees, arms reaching up, desperate to praise/worship in floods of tears or at one point I just lay down with arms stretched up. I love Him.

It turns out that I may have been given a prophetic gift which I have had for a while but have not really been aware of; I am now feeling desperate to lead more people to Christ in my own way, even though it's going to involve stepping out of my comfort zone. Our church building has been re-done and it's up to us, the Church (not the building - us) to grow His kingdom and bring more people to Him. Some of our congregations are so scared of the Holy Spirit and shift anxiously on their seats whenever He is mentioned - I am hungry to tell them He is wonderful, loving, gracious, powerful .... I could go on. The others who went on the course with me all feel this hunger too so we're praying that this will change. I also keep hungering for His Word; I seem to permanently have my head in my Biblel!! One of the Leaders sensed that I could teach - now that is a scarey thought for me but I know if it happens it's through the Holy Spirit leading me, not me.

Anyhow, just wanted to share this with you; well done if you've read this lot!

the baptism of the Holy Spirit is awesome, as you have described... I hope you read this whole series here, it is a lot of teaching, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit is not the 'end' it is the beginning of a new empowered walk... It is the walking through the door, there is so much more to find inside, once filled...
