Pork is a sin for it is written: Nevertheless these shall ye not eat ; (Leviticus 11:4) And the swine ; he is unclean to you.; (Leviticus 11:7).
Even though people think that it was cleaned in Acts Chapter 11, the pig did not make the list!
However, God did make a few exceptions to the rule and the list is as follows:

You can eat: Fried bacon, Fried sausage patties
bbq pork ribs and pork chops
Fried cocktail sausages, Pepperoni pizza

These are just a few exceptions to the rule that God will allow. Please note that the first three items are Fried; not boiled or cooked in any other way.

Going back to Acts Chapter 11, God did say we could eat the rabbit. And when the subject came up about eating crawfish (I live in the Deep South), He said: How can you eat those things?!?;
Anyway, I love crayfish and even though they don't have fins and scales, yet they are good to eat. Catfish are also without scales, however, God doesn't mind if you eat them. And God couldn't believe that I eat eggs. Eggs are great!
Apparently, our dietary intake has changed over the millenniums of time, though pork still remains a sin.

However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do. But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble (I Cor. 8: 7-13).

So, if it's been sacrificed to Baal before it goes on the BBQ, I don't want to know. ;)

I voted 'yes', but it's not that it's allowed NOW - it always has been.

1. God saved the Hebrew nation; brought them out from slavery in Egypt. He was their Saviour, he made a covenant with them, they became his people and he told them how they, as his saved people, were to live.

2. I am a Gentile. I have no Jewish blood, my ancestors were not rescued from Egypt and part of this covenant. I HAVE been saved by God - his Son rescued me from slavery to sin and saved me from eternal death. So HE, Jesus, is my Saviour.

3. Jesus did not say that Gentiles had to keep the Jewish law, or convert to Judaism to be saved, therefore the early church did not teach it either. Jesus actually said that food cannot make someone unclean - it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person but what comes out of it, and the heart.

Me too. Let the debate begin!

Jew: "Nay! I cannot eat you!"
Pig: "Of course you can.
Have you not heard that Peter and Paul changed the clean/unclean food laws? Bon apetite!"

Halal meat at your local Middle Eastern market?

My conscience was clean in that case. I had no knowledge of any sacrificial rite in the preparation of the meat. Nevermind the fact that it was probably healthier than anything I can get pre-packaged at the local Wal-Mart.

All I'm saying is that if I have to give up those Halal lamb kabobs at the Caspian House of Kabob, there's something bad going to happen. That's all I'm sayin'.

Peter said, “I live on olives and bread, to which I rarely only add vegetables.” (Clementine Homilies 12,6; also see, Recognitions 7,6)
Unfortunately, that is not from Scripture, but from an an uninspired pseudographic source.

[Now, back to our regularly schedule program.....]

Clementine literature - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Clementine literature (also called Clementina, Pseudo-Clementine Writings, The Preaching of Peter, Kerygmata Petrou, Clementine Romance etc.) is the name given to the religious romance which purports to contain a record made by one Clement (whom the narrative identifies as both Pope Clement I, and Domitian's cousin Titus Flavius Clemens) of discourses involving the apostle Peter, together with an account of the circumstances under which Clement came to be Peter's travelling companion, and of other details of Clement's family history............

There are blessings said to Allah before the slaughter.

Well, then we should probably alert all the Christians that eat at Middle Eastern restaurants across America that they are causing their weaker brothers to stumble, according to I Corinthians 8 in eating meat sacrificed to idols. But since this thread is about pork, I won't derail further.

I still have no problem eating Halal meat. But if you were, in my presence, to slaughter the animal and sacrifice to a pagan god (funky ritual dance included), then expect me to eat - no thanks.

Amen! I've been stuck in Canada for two years waiting for immigration to go through. I'm waiting for my chance to go home to Michigan. A trip to Dearborn for some REAL Middle Eastern food is definitely on the agenda!

(sorry, I promised not to derail, didn't I...;))

For a historical background of early Christian mores about food:

God-Fearers: Kosher-Slaughtered Meat in the Early Church : FFOZ Blogs

It doesn’t matter about what we eat before God.

1 Cor 8:8 Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do.

The kingdom of God, is NOT about foods.

Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

This..The LORD showed Paul, other than for the weak conscience Jewish person, who does not know better.

Rom 14:14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean

Peter was eating Gentile unclean food.

Gal 2:12For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.

Corinth sold the unclean idol meat, that had blood in it. Paul said eat it.

1 Cor 10:25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience.

QUOTING A PSALM HERE, to confrim his point about eating.. QUOTING A PSALM HERE, to confrim his point about eating after he said eat all in the pagan markets of Corinth...

1 Cor 10:26 For "the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof."

What kind of food would a Corinthian pagan serve? Paul said it eat, other than for their weak conscience, a different issue, but he said eat it, knowing it was idol food.

1 Cor 10:27 If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience.

Doctrine of demons, = food abstinence.

1 Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

Paul ate the unclean meat of a Roman guard.

Acts 16;34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

Peter ate unclean gentile food.

Acts 11:3Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

Philippi had so few Jews, that there was not even a synagogue there, yet Paul stayed with Gentile Lydia, did he not eat her food, while being a guest there?

Acts 16:15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

How could Paul and Barnabas, preach and live with their Gentile converts, and the alienate them, by declaring them unclean, because of Mosaic food laws? That would be the very thing, Paul rebuked Peter for doing in Antioch, recorded in Galatians 2.

And of course....of course...Mark 7:19, Jesus declared all foods clean!

Aramaic Bible in Plain English Mark 7:“Because it does not enter his heart, but his belly, and is discharged by excretion, which purifies all foods.”

the Jewish Christians in Antioch, were living as, and eating with Gentiles, so there goes the food laws, text available upon request

“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience. For “the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof.” If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. 28 But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience— I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else's conscience? If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved (I Cor. 10: 23-33).
