• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

We probably won't ever forget what's been done to us, that's how we learn. But that doesn't mean the pain of it has to rule our lives. I will never forget the years of depression that I went through. But I don't feel the pain of it, like I once did. Through Christ we can find healing.

I second this!

When people have wronged us we can walk around with the pain all our lives or we can learn to forgive them and gain the treasure of forgiveness in our hearts. The good thing of loving Jesus is that His loving truth heals us from our depression. Possessing His good life in our hearts is a real treasure that works for us and keeps us going through even the hardest times in our lives. Jesus is well worth the effort of believing.:amen:

The depletion of energy that occurs when anger is redirected inward creates depression. “Hurt” is stored because the body retains a primitive subconscious ability to remember every incident that it experiences. This is called conditioning and it is part of the way we learn.

Christ is my physician.

Thank you all for your advice, I'm just not strong enough. I shouldn't have to be when I'm the one that's been mistreated. No one gets it, I don't care if I get kicked off cf anymore. I took 15 piles yesterday, I was ready to leave here. I've been hurt deeply and the people who hurt me could care less all they have are empty sorries. God doesn't seem to understand or care about my desperation for help. Every time I come on this forum I get depressed maybe it's best I stay away

A person may feel he or she has no laughter or joy inside because these positive emotions have been blocked by unhappy memories. Old emotional hurts inevitably lurk inside and when the new feelings try to bubble up they are filtered through these hurts. The person can either release the inner hurt or reprogram it. He/She can learn new, more useful and effective responses to painful experiences. When this is accomplished a permanent cure usually results.

Emotional “baggage” can be a real curse. We can often let it hang around in our mind creating further negativity. We know that negative thoughts attract negative thoughts … and this can lead to fear and anxiety, lack of self confidence and self esteem, depression, illness, disease, and more.

It is extremely important to express your feelings and talk about events. This can be done with friends or with a counsellor. Look at the consequences of internalising or pushing down negative feelings. They go to memory which is in the subconscious mind.
