He looked pretty good today....no hoarseness, his voice was stronger, and his vital signs are good.

He has pain when he moves, but is generally kept comfortable with pain and nausea meds.

He is taking liquids by mouth and tolerating it well (and still has a few IVs).

They got him out of bed to freshen up and sit in the chair; 30 min was all he could take.

He dozed off and on all afternoon, and said a few words in between.

He is weak and tires very easily.

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers!

It was surprising to me to find out...by personal experience how much of our strength comes from our colon health.

May I ask Jim's age?

You must remember what he has had done...the meds, surgery, not much to eat.

So hard to see strong hubby down and weak...just is not the usuall picture for me. Not for you either.:hug::hug:

It sounds like Jim is making good progress. :) My husband had two hip transplants, about two months apart, a few years ago. Like Jim, it was difficult for him for the first few days. I do pray Jim will soon be feeling much better all round and healing very well, as my husband did.

He is 61... just a few months older than I am :)
Glad to hear the good report that his surgery went real well! Praying that the biopsy results are good also. Thanks for the update.

I will be saying a prayer for you both, btw thanks for all the kind comments you made on my profile the other day. I sure hope you're doing okay.

It touches my heart to read your prayers and support before I go visit him each day (and share them with him)

Hello dear friends
I was pleasantly surprised to see Jim shaved, with his glasses on, oxygen off, and catheter out!
He is now just on a booster dose of morphine as he needs it, and had only 1 bout of nausea earlier this AM (without anti-nausea meds).

He said he had walked the hallway, and they are now giving him full liquids (everything from broth to cream of wheat).

He still feels weak, fatigues easily, and dozes off and on, but I found him to be much more alert...and was even interested in reading!

It is great to see him making steady progress

Thank God...and thank you for your prayers!

That's wonderful news Gail, considering he had a major operation a couple of days ago. Praise the Lord! I hope and pray that Jim has a comfortable recovery, and that the results of the surgery are good. :groupray::hug::hug:

Great News Sister Gail! - Thanks for letting us know. It appears that things are going extremely well, but I'll keep you and Jim in my prayers anyway.
Thank you all

Jim called me this morning ~
He may be coming home tonight .....or tomorrow
The doc will check on him again later today and decide.
He was up, showered, walked the hall, eating/digesting regular food well, and is just on oral pain meds now (all IVs are out)
AMAZING what the Lord can do....just 3 days after major surgery :swoon:

Happy to hear it and since you are a nurse yourself, he should be in excellent hands!!

Praise God ~ He's home!!!

Got in @ 7:30....settled in and relaxed watching tv.

Still on a strong pain med, a restricted diet and activities, but doing amazing after just 3 days post op!

We'll see the doc on Thursday, and will let you know when we get the lymph node biopsy back.

No doubt it was all the prayers that got him through ~ thank you all!!
