I noticed some on this forum are calling Justice Antonin Scalia a "monster". I think he is an American hero, and the dude is going to Heaven. "How can you be so sure?" you might ask. Because he believes in God's Son, and he respects His Holy Bible. Is Scalia perfect? No. Is he forgiven? Yes.

On this issue of homosexual marriage, Scalia isn't leading the nation down the path of sin. Scalia isn't a false teacher like many of his peers. He is an inspiration to Christian Americans and shows how we can serve our country.

How soon until he gets there?

And even if he wasn't such an inspiration, even if he was a false teacher who was leading the nation down the path of sin, he'd still be going to heaven.

After all, he's forgiven -- whatever he's done is irrelevant.

No, Jesus told us not to lead others to sin. You're not demonstrating faith in Christ by leading people to sin.

Not likely since we are discussing heaven and, well, Paul makes some very negative remarks regarding sex conduct betweeb two or more people of the same sex.

So it doesn't really matter how imperfect he is.

I don't recall Paul being the final arbiter as to who does or doesn't get in -- that role is reserved for Jesus.

Besides, the Nicene Creed (The definition of Christianity at least insofar as this board is concerned) is pretty negative on Paul.

He can't go to heaven if we don't find and destroy his phylactery first.

Saying people have a legal right to do something is leading them to sin? I think they were doing the sin before legality was even mentioned.

If that is leading someone to sin, then you are leading people to sin every time you spend money. I mean, they might use that 20$ to buy an eight of weed. Good job, your dinner at golden corral now has led to the waitress sinning.

The problem with this argument is that Scalia isn't meant to be "an inspiration to Christian Americans" in his profressional life; he is meant to an inspiration to the the rule of law. Where those two come together it's great, but where they differ it's his job to put his personal/religious beliefs aside and rule according to the law. The problem with Scalia is that rarely does so.

I have a problem when any justice puts personal/religious beliefs above the rule of law, even when they agree with my personal/religious beliefs.

Well ya know, Justice Scalia voted to toss out the Prop 8 case. And by doing so, that made same-sex marriage again legal in CA. He has also said that nothing in the Constitution prevents a state from recognizing the marriage of same-sex couples. While he has said that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided, he's also stated that a fetus is not legally a person. Justice Scalia is a textualist. He decides cases based on the ordinary meaning of the words in the text. Since the Constitution never says, or even implies that the unborn are "persons," that means they have no 14th Amendment rights. So nothing prevents a state from legalizing abortion if it so desires.

We don't and can't know.

"How can you be so sure?" you might ask. Because he believes in God's Son,

Sure he probably says he does, but does that mean it is so?

and he respects His Holy Bible

That is not and never has been a requirement for salvation.

Is Scalia perfect? No.

You can say that again!

Is he forgiven? Yes.

I hope so, as that would mean there is hope for all of us.

As a Christian American and as a lawyer, I find Scalia to be not all that inspiring. He is so sold out to his political ideology that he will bend over backwards to explain away the Constitution when it doesn't line up with his political views.

A fetus has a full set of human chromosomes, which contain the image of God. Killing a fetus equals murder because you are killing the image of God. If what you are saying about Scalia's judgement is true, then he needs to be corrected.

Read his own words. He clearly doesn't believe that the Constitution considers the unborn as persons in the legal sense.

"My job is to interpret the Constitution accurately. And indeed, there are anti-abortion people who think that the constitution requires a state to prohibit abortion. They say that the Equal Protection Clause requires that you treat a helpless human being that's still in the womb the way you treat other human beings. I think that's wrong. I think when the Constitution says that persons are entitled to equal protection of the laws, I think it clearly means walking-around persons..." (emphasis mine)

You should do well to revise that argument because every human diploid cell contains 46 chromosomes. By your logic biting my fingernails would be committing genocide.

It's not the equal protection clause that protects embryos, it's the right to "Life" and laws against murder.
