Remember that Casey Anthony and OJ Simpson were both acquitted as well. We all know what they did. So, this doesn't make GZ innocent. It means there wasn't enough evidence to convict him, so they had to release him. In a sense, justice IS done, because we didn't revert to a vigilante system and hang a man just because we *knew* he was guilty. We let the justice system decide it. That is a success of the system, even if we might hate the outcome.

I really do believe the prosecutors dropped the ball. They never once mentioned that while GZ was pinned, his gun was pinned below him. How could he claim fear of life (TM reaching for gun, supposedly) when the gun was hidden, out of sight, pinned under a 200lbs man? I think if they would have brought that up, and brought up the numerous inconsistencies of GZ's testimonies, they would have had a conviction.

Zimmerman should consider himself lucky I wasn't on the jury
I think all people who respect justice are glad you weren't on the jury.
That kind of attitude is what puts innocent people in prison for any term, including death row.

Why? What good would come out of it?
You want to see innocent people getting hurt?

"Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one."

It took a riot to make moves to correct police policy problem we live in a violent society where respect is taken.

Buying skittles and wearing a hoodie is now a capital crime apparently.

If I got to the grocery store and buy a gallon of milk and a Snickers bar and then go act like I'm trying to commit a crime, it isn't my milk and Snickers that are the issue. It's the way I'm acting. The media made fools of themselves playing up the Skittles and iced tea angle. Nobody gave a rat's behind what Martin had in his pocket. Did he, or did he not, act like a criminal that night? That's the issue at hand. Not what he bought at the corner store before the altercation.

The only possible verdict. Good news.

No one gets over this terrible tragedy on either side. Not the Zimmerman family, nor the Martin.

The emotions cloud the truth when people try this case on message boards and in forums.
Thank goodness the jury was impartial and fair.

This case, the evidence, showed that Zimmerman was under attack because a 17 year old boy, for whatever reason, decided rather than take a rational course of action and stop and ask Zimmerman his business, or go home, or as someone said, call 911 if he was that afraid, decided instead and for whatever reason that we'll never know, come back to an area he'd just passed through and attack Zimmerman.

That's the evidence. And someone in fear of their life in Florida is entitled to use lethal force. Everything Zimmerman did was legal. Everything.
The same can not be said for Martin.

Justice was served the night that Martin was shot and killed. Justice prevailed tonight
Sadly, true.

That said though ... there were no winners in this whole ordeal, except perhaps the American public. People in this country had a chance to observe closely how absurdly the justice system can be manipulated by people in positions of responsibility and power. I expect that that lesson will remain with people for many years.

It's why we have jury trials in this country.

It's happened once already. What difference does it make now? I say burn it all down!

What would it accomplish? Showing the rest of the world how immature the ones doing the rioting are?
Those who resort to childish violence should be ridiculed for a long time.
"I didn't get my way,so I'm going to destroy other people's property and maybe even kill them" sure sounds logical to me...NOT!!!!

Jesus also told His disciples to be at peace when the Roman guards came to take Him away to what would be His torture and death on the cross. By all means people could have rioted over His execution, but instead Jesus called for peace and even asked His Heavenly Father to forgive those responsible.

Yeah, I wouldn't want you to be on the jury if I was ever being charged with anything.

There are a stack of old cases where innocent people were locked up for decades because jurors just "knew" that they did it...then after 20 years and more advanced investigation tools available, they find out "oops, I guess they didn't do it"...and those jurors who put them in prison falsely are people like you who have their mind made up from the very beginning and refuse to look at it objectively.

...but I have a feeling you would've been weeded out of the selection process anyway.
