well what about how you do the same thing to me, you just don't actively pursue like myself?

thanks btw

If your ever nearby id buy you a beer.

Wasn't sure, but I'm guessing you're addressing me.

Yes, ive admitted that my goal is to try to help nonbelievers find Jesus. I've only heard you say that you were just interested in learning about us, not actually pursuing us. If that's what you meant, then that's an interesting revelation...one that I believe is worth exploring. This goes back to my question I've asked you before about considering unconscious motives, but I'll remind you that you've already answered that you only do things by following your own reasoning. Therefore, I won't I won't go further into that...although I'll just say that my belief is that people are sometimes manipulated without their even knowing it. That would have been my line of discussion had we taken that one further.

yes I think you understand my motive.

We can pursue your concern if you want since we aren't spitting at each other anymore.

I do not believe something is manipulating me, to consider such a thing would obligate me to undermine my own reasoning and sentiments and fall deep into a self inflicted confusion that i cannot feel is warranted and that would contribute nothing but confusion to me, it would never be substantiated and never teach me anything.

And here you thought God and you had nothing in common.
Lee M said,
No your religion does not excite me.
How can you make a claim like that when you've shown you know so little about it?
Lee M said,
No I am not better than the simpletons, even if I know somethings they don't. They deserve a chance and time to learn too. I am simple compared to my own mentors and rolemodels.
Since you think Jesus was merely a simpleton, if you had opportunity, what would you teach Him?
Lee M said,
WOW you impressed me with the solomon quote! Pity one who was devoted to wisdom grew tired in the search for it and wanted it to be over.
Solomon didn't have to search for wisdom, he just applied what he was given. If you ever get the chance, read what he had to say.

Lee M said,
But I can relate, I too have wished there was someone in my life who could just solve all this for me.
Still haven't found what you're looking for. (Hey, you and Bono have something in common too!)

your idea that moral relativism causes people to very simply not know right from wrong obligates you to believe they can't disagree.

your use of such an extreme example shows your bias on the subject. Who actually believes that MURDER is GOOD? Have you ever met anyone who does?

You said moral relativism produces more destruction, if not killing what destruction were you referencing? Your example was MURDER btw

I said moral relativism causes "some" people to not know right from wrong.

Again, I never said anyone believes murder is good. I said they believe murder it "right in their own eyes".

Again, I never said moral relativism produces "more" destruction. I said "moral relativism causes destruction".

Why do you keep misrepresenting what I say?

You didn't answer my question. If a moral relativist believes murder is right is it ok for him to murder someone?

I use to preach and teach the bible... now I am a happy deist. My problems with the bible go deeper than many of you know. I won't be returning to christianity my friend.

Now this is confusing. If you used to teach the bible then why did you ask why we have stopped killing sinners?

The reason I ask these questions is not because I want to know what the bible teaches. It is to see how you react, how you think, what you value... those things show me what Christianity really is. I already know the bible better than some of you and as well as most of you.

edit

and since christianity isn't true... learning the bible will not show you what it really is.

I've been to bible college, I use to preach your religion I know more about christianity than most christians do.

Than most Christians? That may be true since many don't go to bible college. But just because you went to bible college, preached, and then later left the faith, that really doesn't convince me that you know what you're talking about. I bet that if one took a poll to see what percentage of those that went to bible college, preached, and then later left the faith, you would fall into a very small percentage. Most likely, you represent the exception rather than the rule.

I know this is very cliché, but try and get your money back, because you've shown from the outset you know next to nothing about the Bible.

What would I teach Jesus? For starters hed have to read Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice and then he'd start reading all the great philosophers.
Don't tell me...after your phony time spent as a Christian, you decided to do standup?

I would agree that most people who go as far as a bible college, seminary, a degree from a school of higher learning probably stay in the faith, especially those choose to preach because these represent a resignation on the matter. It takes a great deal of faith and devotion to pursue these things, a person who is wavering or unconcerned would not.

That being said I hope this allows you to begin to believe in the person I use to be and dilemmas I would need to have faced to undo those things. I've been a member of this website for more than 10 years. I use to do and say things similar to what you are saying now before I began to doubt and eventually left the faith. My leaving was as troubling to my christian friends as it was to me.
If you could have watched the old me who use to post my devotions on this site who eventually started asking for help with my doubts and then left. Then I returned and talked about how happy I was to have god again and then I began to waver again after a year and I became bitter and eventually I left the faith for good.

If you could have watched all that maybe you'd understand.

you're being silly and pedantic. Try to reconsider what I've said to you.

And you're being dishonest. Try answering some questions and stop misrepresenting what I say and i'll consider what your saying.

Because right now it sounds like you have no idea what the bible teaches.

So far you haven't shown anyone that you "know the bible better than some and as well as most".

If your attempt was to convince Christians that they are wrong about Christianity then I believe you have failed.

I support and encourage my christian friends I help them in their studies and I encourage them when they doubt, I care more about THEM than I do their beliefs and I respect those beliefs and as long as they want to be a christian ill help them as best I can in that pursuit. I believe they are wrong but their hsppiness is more important, christianity isn't real enough to need to be destroyed. Not everything is good or evil.

alright man, I guess we don't really have anything left to say then. Later. You don't really comprehend the difference between being pedantic and saying someone is misrepresenting you.

I guess this time it was the non-Christian that was closed minded and not open to any discussions. You would not acknowledge what I said when you were shown to be incorrect in your bible knowledge and you would not answer any of my questions. How can we take you seriously about you knowing the bible?
