NOTE: I am not trying to make a sacred relationship into something unsacred/'horrible' by asking this. When I ask this I AM NOT referring to anything sexual; I'm not saying anybody here is saying this it's just preemptive and to clarify.
The last time I tried asking this, I was bashed and given so much judgment and grief about it.
The Bible also says we are the bride of Christ (i.e. the church)
I just wondering if it's possible to be romanced by God. I know it's not the same thing as being married to a human.
However there are a couple things I wonder about from scripture that make me wonder about this..
The verse in Hosea where Gomer is taken into the desert to be allured, spoken tenderly to. Yes I know the book of Hosea was an object lesson meant to parallel Israel to God.
The other book is Song of Solomon; I know it's about a couple about to get married, but supposedly it is also a reflection of God's love for us.
The other thing is even though God doesn't need a relationship with us, he longs for it and even becomes jealous when we pursue idols; this mimics what a husband who really loves their wife does if she commits adultery and/or he has the suspicion she is doing so.
So I'm basically wondering if God 'woos' us for lack of a better term, and if so how and what Scriptures apply to this?
Last but not least God fills so many roles if we have a relationship with Him...Teacher, Master, Creator, Savior, Lord, Friend....so I am wondering if He can fit into the role of 'lover' (that probably is a poor word choice, but it's the only one that seems to fit) as well.
