Does anyone know of a Christian who received a premonition of their death? I'm talking about a bible believing Christian who is not dabbling with the occult. Is it biblical?

A couple of days ago, my husband had what he describes as a flashback, it was so powerful that it nearly knocked him to the ground. It happened again while he was watching TV, then again when he was driving the car to work. He almost vomited in the car because it instantly produced such a shock in him. He has not been depressed and doesn't dwell on these kinds of things - its just come out of nowhere and for no apparent reason. The flashback is of him being dead and just leaves a strong impression of what that felt like.

I tried to post this on the dreams and visions page but there wasn't a 'new thread' option.

Jesus foretold his own death and there's those who say that
Abraham Lincoln foretold his own demise.

If you listened to Christian radio personality Frank Pastore on his
November 19, 2012 broadcast, Pastore foretold his own death...
you can find the recording of that broadcast online.

Oh dear, not really what I wanted to hear but thank you, I appreciate your response.

I'd be very skeptical of something like this. If God did reveal that to someone, I would think it would have to be for a very -specific- purpose. Most of the time I believe it's just Satan trying to scare people.

Yes that's what I immediately thought too. But then my husband pointed out times in the bible when people were told they were going to die. I just don't know what to think now.

Has he got any medical history of migraines, epilepsy or other neurological disorders?

Yes he does get an odd migraine but only occasionally. He had one a couple of weeks ago but the one before that was a year or two ago. You think migraines may trigger strange things like this?

Before I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy (and put on medicine) I got the extreme fear, vomiting and feelings of altered consciousness. My sister-in-law who sometimes gets severe migraines also has fear and severe nausea before it "hits".

Does his feelings sound like these? Déjà vu - RightDiagnosis.com

Not meaning to worry you of course, but if this is starting to happen regularly keep an eye out for any pattern or triggers etc.

Thanks Joey, really appreciate the info. Its strange that he's had the same deja vu experience rather than different ones 3 days in a row now with no other symptoms, but anything is possible. We'll have to keep an eye on this just in case it is something to do with migraines or epilepsy. Thanks again.

Fear can cause a lot of things...having visions of dying wouldn't
be out of that realm...migraines can be frightening especially if
they get severe and the symptoms vary etc.

We have a friend who suffers with migraines and his can get
quite severe, so severe that he's had to go to the hospital...
because his are so severe he's not able to work.
I notice he is weakened by them....he's had them since being
involved in a very bad accident years ago.

Thanks BFine. He's not had any flashbacks so far today so I'm hoping whatever it was has passed.

CF already disabled dreams and visions page permanently.

It is certainly not sin to have premonitions if you did not try to manifest it like it came unexpectedly and you did not ask for it. Also look at Joel 2:28.

It is my belief that premonitions according to my personal experiences that it doesn't necessarily show an unchangeable outcome of future events....

...Rather you may be given a glimpse of the future to offer you a chance to change it. In one of my experiences, it quickly saved my life.

There is no simple unGodly way to change future outcome for a genuine vision or Premonition from God. Sometimes, actions which serve to avoid an unwanted future outcome will only help to fulfill it. It's one of the complications of temporal paradoxes caused by information traveling backwards in time or future information fed to present time. There's lengthy scientific wikipedia article for that but you probably don't need to know it...

...Simple solution, if it is a genuine vision from God, change your ways to follow Jesus even more. That way, you don't lose anything if the vision turned out to be only a simple hallucination! And if you do encounter one of the bitter manifestations of temporal paradoxes, you end up saved, no matter what happens...

...It's biblical whenever a nation is given a bad future prophecy, the required action is always to repent, doesn't matter whether it changes the prophecy or not, the most important thing is turn our hearts toward God even more if you already do.

Thank you Timewerx I really appreciate your thoughts on this. I am hoping this experience no matter where it came from will really change my husband somehow. Like you his eyes have been opened to the church system of today. God spoke to him from Revelation 3 over 15 years ago and he thought it was a personal rejection from God. About a year ago he realised it is a word for the church and not just for him alone. Yet he struggles with salvation, and the difficult teachings of Jesus and feels that his life does not meet God's expectations. Although he knows you can only be saved through faith through God's grace, he knows that your life should be bearing fruit. I agree with him but have a slightly different perspective on salvation now. I just pray that God will use this situation to guide him.

Np! Hope this starts a good change for your husband. It feels good to be free, well almost.. ..if you love going against the flow and how it will make you hated by most of the people that used to like you.

The precognition I had actually saved me from a deadly road accident. An eroded portion of a narrow mountain road hidden from view by a blind curve. I was driving fast in a hurry, would have fallen into eroded portion of the road into the ravine have God not shown me a vision of the road several seconds into the future. I slowed down immediately and after I passed the blind curve there it was, death waiting for me. But I was alive!

Had I died that day, I would have died not know God so it certainly saved me spiritually as well!

That's an amazing testimony, praise be to God! You were chosen to be saved before you were even conceived so it wasn't your appointed time to die. My beliefs on salvation have been heightened in just the last couple of weeks. Just written about it on someone's thread.

Thanks Lotty! May God reveal all the Truth to you!

I'm really thankful to God for me not dying in a road accident. Not how I wanted to die. I want to die while consciously doing something for God not by an accident.

May God's peace be with you!

Its been fantastic meeting you but sadly I wont be around on CF anymore. I hurt someone unintentionally and I cant risk that happening again. I pray that you will keep fighting the good fight of faith!! All the very very best.

Take him to the doctor, and tell the doc what's going on. Sometimes it's just a brain mis-fire, sometimes it's a migraine, but it could also be a tumor or something serious.

Or it could be the enemy trying to scare him

I've heard of people who get premonitions about their own deaths. But God always sends a peace with it, and generally that person begins making plans for burial and stuff without any fear.

If it includes fear, generally it isn't from God.

LottyH, I am not sure if you'll read this now but I want to say this for your own sake.

If you are referring to a certain entry in another section - that is why I personally did not contribute to that area until I felt confident enough. There is a higher risk that fragile people will respond to entries in a way you did not intend at all. That is a down side of typing only - no voice inflection and/or facial expressions cannot be received (which reduces risk of misunderstanding).
