• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Feeling trapped and overwhelmed at the moment - reading the psalms - it's comforting to see how David felt so many of the same things, and yet God rescued him and used him.
Trying to hold on to that...

Praying for you Criada

Criada! sorry i missed your post sweetheart... I know what you mean! I've been feeling trapped for some time but i've realised that God was teaching me to hold still and trust in Him. An old song 'God will find a way where there seems to be no way' has been going through my mind for days and i've finally found a new direction. The pain of waiting, trusting, and striving is like childbirth once the child is born we forget how hard it was.

If God is directing you, he's the author of your life. He has decided victory for his children so hang in there the story hasn't been told yet. You will overcome.

Could someone force me to take my medications. Well, I can`t. I`m not taking these because I want to kill myself with meds and when I can avoid this wish to die then I think about how meds make me gain weight and how they gave me an another health problem and about all the bad side effects meds could give me. :help:

You're not insane, sweetie, or you wouldn't recognise them as paranoid thoughts!
I'm sorry you're stuggling - praying that God will fill you with his peace

So badly wanting to believe what you say about not being insane but it`s seems to hard too be done. Thanks for praying. :)

Did you mean to say you want to kill yourself with meds? Or did you mean you don't wish to kill yourself with meds. What you said afterwards makes me think you don't. Please clarify.

theoretically I would say yes they could and they actually might but it helped me in life to realize that the world is judging me by my behavior, not by how desperate I feel inside. If you ACT appropriately, according to their views, then they'll leave you alone and you can deal with your emotional & mental struggles as an adult, between you and God the way you see fit. Behaving like a grown up & facing whatever life is throwing at you, stilling yourself and trusting in God alone.

Love and

God bless

Psalm 3

Lord how are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, 'There is no help for him in God'.

But thou O Lord art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up on mine head.

I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked for the Lord sustained me.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.

Arise O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.

Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon they people.

when does the pain end?? it always hurts so much, and I don't have the strength to keep going. I'm just praying continually, day and night, for strength and hope for all of us

With a depressive illness it is not so much when will the pain end, but rather when will I be able to cope with the pain of my depression? It is good that you still pray though for hope in God will not disappoint you in the end.

I found that focusing on God's good rather than the negativity of depression is one of the best supports systems available.

Depression has life in lies, while God offers the truth.

Depression makes you feel that you are not loved and not useful, while God makes you feel loved and wanted.

Depression is darkness, while God offers Light!

Depression is dying to good life while God brings new (good) life.

Depression is the pits while God rescues us from above.

Psalm 72:12-14

For he will deliver the needy who cry out,
the afflicted who have no one to help.
He will take pity on the weak and the needy
and save the needy from death.
He will rescue them from oppression and violence,
for precious is their blood in his sight.

That is very true, that's something I need to do more of- focus on God's good rather than depression. Thank you so much :)

Bless you Number Of Stars I know its hard. Praying that you can get your head into the needs of today and not panic about the future. This verse always helps me when life seems to be throwing insurmountable problems at my feet:

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Mat 6.34

I'm wrestling with the way people both in the world and in the church seem to be quick to gossip and judge while seemingly not paying attention to their own shortcomings.

29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips,

What does God, in His word, say of the backbiter?

(Romans 1:29-31)

No fewer than twenty-three sorts of sins and sinners are mentioned by Paul in these verses. These are things “unbecoming,” i.e., inconsistent with our duty to God and others. Of all the misdeeds herein mentioned five are sins of the tongue. Debate—strife, and the disposition to be contentious and quarrelsome. Deceit—fraud, falsehood and lying. Malignity—misinterpreting the words and actions of others, or putting the worst construction on their conduct. Whisperers—those who secretly, by hints and innuendoes, detract from others or excite suspicion of them. They secretly filet another for his faults, while pretending great innocence themselves. They talk about others as if it pains them to do so, when actually they are enjoying every second of it. Backbiters—those who speak ill of others when they are not present to speak for themselves. Backbiters never tell “secrets,” but only those things which are notoriously “true.” They never speak to the person involved, only about the person.'

Dear God give me the strength to not react to the person Denis Gulliddge describes here. They test my patience more than anything!

Jesus hates it too, Estherstar. I think its a fleshly human trait that I've been guilty of too.

'How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye' Luke 6:42

Amen! Lets endeavor to be salt and light not venom.

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. James 3.

The bride of Christ is the salt of the earth not the disease.

Yes please I want to be the salt! Whenever I judge others, soon after I find myself doing the same thing as them - its like God is telling me something...

I left my last church because the women had a nasty habit of gossiping during sunday school class. I actually corrected them while they were gossiping about someone's divorce. It really angered me. If we can't be safe in church then we can't be safe anywhere. Or it seems that's how it should be anyway.

The Lord dealt with me about gossip many years ago as I work in an office full of women & that's how office politics usually goes. But you know what, God did a miracle in our office because of His dealing with me. He showed me how it worked & how I participated in it. He gave me the grace to repent and then I started teaching the other women about love & mutual respect. We all became closer & actually started really caring about one another. Today we are all like sisters and love each other very much.

If my family could treat each other the way we treat each other at work I'd be much happier. Gossip is a very nasty horrible cruel thing and no Christian should be involved in it. We have to guard our hearts & our mouths. We are held to a high standard of behavior & to behave in such ways is actually a form of murder. Let it not be once named among us.
