It wouldn't be a great surprise that this or something similar, based on a long US history of covert weapons activities. However, I would have to see something from credible sources. Rivera and Beck have been known to say just about anything to get attention.

From the Washington Post: CIA preparing to deliver rebels arms through Turkey and Jordan - The Washington Post
The CIA is preparing to deliver arms to rebel groups in Syria through clandestine bases in Turkey and Jordan that were expanded over the past year in an effort to establish reliable supply routes into the country for nonlethal material, U.S. officials said.

The bases are expected to begin conveying limited shipments of weapons and ammunition within weeks, officials said, serving as critical nodes for an escalation of U.S. involvement in a civil war that has lately seen a shift in momentum toward the forces of President Bashar al-Assad.

Syria experts cautioned that the opposition to Assad remains a chaotic mix of secular and Islamist elements, highlighting the risk that some American-provided munitions may be diverted from their intended recipients.

But U.S. officials involved in the planning of the new policy of increased military support announced by the Obama administration Thursday said that the CIA has developed a clearer understanding of the composition of rebel forces, which have begun to coalesce in recent months. Within the past year, the CIA also created a new office at its headquarters in Langley to oversee its expanding operational role in Syria.
Gosh ... an admission that the CIA was actually working on this clandestinely a year ago ... well before 9/11/2012.

Who knew?

REPORT: The CIA Has Been Secretly Training Syrian Rebels For Months
The CIA and US special operations forces have been training Syrian rebels for months, since long before President Barack Obama announced plans to arm the opposition, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

Training for rebel forces covers the use of anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons and has been carried out at bases in Jordan and Turkey since late last year, the newspaper reported, citing unnamed US officials and rebel commanders.

Geraldo Rivera: My Sources Tell Me Benghazi Was About Running Missiles to Syrian Rebels | Video | TheBlaze.com
“I believe, and my sources tell me, they were there to round up those shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, they were going to hand those missiles over to the Turks and the Turks were going to give them to the rebels in Syria,” Rivera said. “It was like Iran-Contra, I think it merits gigantic investigation, it will all become clear.”
Except this is nothing like Iran-Contra. We do not have an arms embargo against Syrian rebels. We are not taking the proceeds of those arm sales and using them to fund other clandestine coup attempts.

Regardless, we were on the wrong side ... arming Islamic militants. We still are. In fact, the President has doubled down and is getting us into another undeclared war ... strangely allied with Al Qaeda this time. Just weird ...

No, not 'regardless'. Iran-Contra was a clear violation of US law. We sold weapons to a nation that was under an arms embargo that we helped put in place. We then took the money from those arm sales and funded a terrorist organization in Central America. These situations are nowhere near analogous.

I agree that we shouldn't be selling arms to the rebels. I do not agree that selling arms to Syrian rebels is 'just like Iran-Contra' or even warrants an investigation as stated in the OP.
