never once did i say that i hate that the husband works on this stuff and he knows what he is doing he just is clumsy

I think the disconnect here is that you make it sound like your husband needs to be carted off to the ER once a week because he chopped off an appendage or punctured a vital organ, or sliced something wide open. I certainly have that opinion after reading your posts and certainly others here do as well. Some clarification is needed because many here are thinking he needs to put the power tools down and abandon that hobby before he does irreparable damage or kills himself.

Perhaps you should elaborate on just how frequently your husband injures himself and the average severity of those injuries.

i think me saying he had 18 sticthes in his hand implies the severity, and finger he cut with a wood chisel was deep but not deep enough for the er or so he says. my point was i asked for advice on how i can get my huband and kids to respect my need for getting this course done and i got the advice that has worked so far so thanks yall for all your help

I don't really think this is a boundary issue, if someone is cut by a saw or almost carving your finger with a woods chisel its more of a emergency type of thing. You can't have a spouse come up to you "oh I just stabbed myself with a saw help me" you can't respond "no remember those boundaries." It really doesn't work like that.

I agree maybe that will be the best way to do this. I would also tell the husband while no one is in the house don't use the tools when no one is home. That's why I like the fishing idea because he will be out of the house and doing something that is not dangerous.

The husband could potentially do the work with the saws and chisels at another time. If two things can't happen at once it doesn't automatically follow that the OP's course has to be the thing that gives.
