• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

wow, that's confusing...
You don't feel the symptoms, but they say you suffer it..
Did you tell them you don't feel the symptoms?

Yes, I've told them that I feel fine and that there is nothing wrong with me.

The doctor I'm going to now seems to be a little better. He took me off of 2 of the pills I was taking so now I'm only taking one pill.

Okay, lets stop for a second. There are two types of schizo affective depressive and bipolar. Let's not get them confused. I have this illness. I thought I felt fine, but I was not okay. Every doctor agreed that I have this disorder (although some said schizophrenic). I didn't believe them, and I suffered gratefully for not following their directions. This is because most people with this disorder don't believe they have it. Not believing you have the disorder is one of the symptoms, so my advice stay on the meds for a few months and see if you feel better. It is unlikely that that many doctors coming to the same conclusion are wrong.

I mean, take all of the prescribed meds as prescribed, and during the few months give input. Example: if you are having a lot of side effects tell them to change your meds. Take charge! Sometimes us schizo affective people behave oddly, and we don't see it. I'm not saying you do have schizoaffective disorder, but if you have had this diagnosis by multiple doctors give treatment a try ( a few months may seem like a long time but for psychiatric treatment its not.) I thought I was fine, and I told every doctor I was just that. I was angry that they would not listen, but now that I am on medication I look back, and I was not as bad as they said. However, I know now that I was very ill. I couldn't think straight, and I didn't know I was ill. Please don't go through a worse heck because you can't see what they do.

The Dr. says that I have this illness. I don't believe that I do. How do I know?

Well, to tell the truth, you don't. I have met a lot of psychiatrists/psycologists who attatch a disorder to anyone who walks in. If you took the only perfect man, Jesus Christ, into the offices of some of those doctors, they would come up with a disorder and an expensive medication. You know all those stories about auto mechanics charging women extra just because they see a person they can make money off? It is the same way with psycologists.

If you don't think the medication is helping you, it might be best to stop taking it. I'm sure that would save quite a bit of money. And I don't mean to judge you or anyone else, but a lot of the people I know who have ADD/ADHD, Bipolar, mild schizophrenia, etc. and complain about having a hard time getting along with people are blaming a simple problem on a disorder. Many of them have bad manners or don't think about other people's feelings. They call this a symptom of their disorder, but they could easily fix it by being a little more considerate and a little less selfish.

May God bless and keep you,
Grace

I apologize if this is hard to read
