Use it as a way to talk to people, as simple as that.I've been studying Islam for a bit because I'm really into being, I dunno, tolerant and welcoming to people new in my community. We have a lot of Muslims moving to my state, in fact we have the largest Somali population in the United States.
Anyway, I was given an Allah pendant (it's the word Allah (God) written in Arabic in a beautiful design). I want to wear it but I wonder if I can. So I'm asking, would YOU wear an Allah pendant? I mean, it does say God. And God is God, right?
On the other hand, it does represent a bold statement and a representation of a connection to Islam, which I do not have and nor do I want to be perceived.
What to do?
I once purchased a necklace - the cross - but it had a loop in the top of it. Read what happened to me here: Scroll down to Object Lesson.
Diamonds from Heaven
Blind post: I love Arabic calligraphy so I might consider wearing something with "Allah" on it if I was given it. There is a large Muslim population here and it might result in some questions but maybe that would result in some good dialogue and a good experience.
I'd wear it just to give snooty gossipers something to flap their gums about. But that's just me....LOL
Ahh, so you want to troll, eh?
LOL...sometimes folks feel better about themselves if they can talk about what Jane or Johnny is doing wrong. I'd just be helping them out.
If you want to wear it, wear it. Like you said it just means God. They're (Muslims) from the same Abrahamic background as you. I really don't see the harm in it.
Granted, you might scare some silly people. But, they're silly. LOL
