I've been studying Islam for a bit because I'm really into being, I dunno, tolerant and welcoming to people new in my community. We have a lot of Muslims moving to my state, in fact we have the largest Somali population in the United States.

Anyway, I was given an Allah pendant (it's the word Allah (God) written in Arabic in a beautiful design). I want to wear it but I wonder if I can. So I'm asking, would YOU wear an Allah pendant? I mean, it does say God. And God is God, right?

On the other hand, it does represent a bold statement and a representation of a connection to Islam, which I do not have and nor do I want to be perceived.

What to do?
Use it as a way to talk to people, as simple as that.

I once purchased a necklace - the cross - but it had a loop in the top of it. Read what happened to me here: Scroll down to Object Lesson.

Diamonds from Heaven

Post the story here instead, it was pretty far down on the page, I had to do a search by Ctrl+F to find it.

I've read stories about people encountering demons or such, through items. It matters what we wear and bring into our houses. God punished Israel because of what they brought with them, and they disobeyed him.

Allah, is the Arabic word for God. Arab Christians say Allah too. Now, I'm not going to say we don't have differences with Islam. Clearly, we do. But, all of this you're worshiping an idol talk is nonsense.
al·lah

/ˈälə/
The name of God among Muslims (and Arab Christians).

Blind post: I love Arabic calligraphy so I might consider wearing something with "Allah" on it if I was given it. There is a large Muslim population here and it might result in some questions but maybe that would result in some good dialogue and a good experience.

Good point; the calligraphy can be lovely. And talking is always good. :)

I'd be a tough call. I'd most likely be an perfectly acceptable thing in a personal context, as with a lot of things. But there's also the argument that wearing an Allah pendant may broadcast the wrong ideas to fellow Christians (especially conservatives) and may not benefit society as a whole despite your good intentions.

idk, I'd wear it myself and just assure people whenever they as and try my best to break the confusion whenever it arises.

If you want to wear it, wear it. Like you said it just means God. They're (Muslims) from the same Abrahamic background as you. I really don't see the harm in it.

Granted, you might scare some silly people. But, they're silly. LOL

Agreed. I would have no problem wearing an Allah pendant at all.

I reverted back to Christianity from Islam, you may want to research some of the customs in wearing such a pendent. For example, it would be insulting to Muslims if you wore that pendent when using a washroom. You would need to remove it, then purify yourself before putting it back on.
