To answer a few questions:
I don't watch TV and I do listen to relaxing piano music to help sooth my mind. I have sexual issues both from other sources sinning against me and also from my own sin. I am diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.

There is nobody around here that I know who would touch this subject. Even my Christian counselor wouldn't want to.

It's been a long journey, but I do believe in Jesus (help my unbelief). I confess to him and have faith that He is my only hope for salvation.

I am very afraid and can't do this on my own.

Good to hear you're not influenced by the media. The reason I asked is because these things very often invoke feelings of lust, anger, greed, guilt, and sadness. now on to some biblical stuffs:

Mark 9:43

"And if your hand offend you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:"

Corinthians 5:11

"But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat."

I'm not advising you to cut off your hands, but, you need to cut these people out from your life if they don't understand. Jesus's love is FAR greater and FAR more important than any relationship on Earth.

------------------

After researching your disorder, it does sound like you might be influenced by a demon, or demons, but that is really the last resort thing I can tell you.

IF this is true, don't worry!

The number one thing that will calm a spirit is surrounding yourself with people that are Christ-like. Also, you're NEVER alone, never think you are, because Jesus is in your heart.

Romans 12-2

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God"

I want to stress again, the importance of cutting the ties with these people that are making you feel this way, as you say, sin against you and those that you sin against.

-----------------------------------------

I'll give you a little background on how demons work - They use the media and whatever outlet they can to influence your every thought. If you're around people who are completely brainwashed by these things, they can still affect you.

Do they completely take over a person through possession? Yes, but only if the host is COMPLETELY willing to let them do it. As a Christian you don't have to worry about this, you wouldn't let a demon possess you willingly.

Can they still influence you? Absolutely!

Why do they try to influence you? They hate God, they want him to be dethroned by lucifer so they can rule forever. It's a spiritual battle for souls, they think if they get enough souls they can win the battle. There's a constant battle going on, ALL the time, between angels and demons.

------------------------------------------

Every time I started to feel like I was going to explode, or become really anxious, I'd ask The Lord for strength, then proclaim that no demons come near me in the name of The Father In Heaven. Ever since I've started doing that, I've been able to fully control myself with the grace of God.

Don't underestimate the power of prayer. I've NEVER had a prayer go unanswered, ever. As an example, 4 years ago I started studying demonology and I became fairly anxious because of it, because it revealed A LOT about the world. I asked The Lord to take my worries, and even knowing what I know now, it doesn't worry me.

----------------------------

Make a checklist of things you need to work on, remember that most psychological disorders are just theories (they're real, but nobody is 100% sure on how to treat them, because it's all in the mind), and can be fixed on your own without medicine.

I'd start with a simple checklist of:

1) Always think that my condition is not as bad as I think it is.
2) Cut all ties from those who cause me to sin, or who I cannot be with without sinning.
3) Pray to The Lord that he will give me the strength to overcome my disorder.
4) Any time I get angry, proclaim that in the name of The Lord Jesus Christ that no demons can come near me.
5) Pray to The Lord that he will take all of my worries and burdens for himself any time I feel overly anxious.

That's just a start, you can expand on it.

I completely understand how hard it is to get through something like this, but I cannot stress enough that the number one cure for you is prayer to The Lord.

I hope all of this helps, if you need anything clarified let me know. I COULD go further into demonology to explain in detail how they work but there's no reason for you to know that unless it comes to the absolute final last resort.

Can Christians today be harassed and troubled by demons? I think they can be. I, like everyone else have sin I struggle with. When and after I confess and repent from a particular sin, I am troubled even more by something. Ever since I was in my teens I say I've been troubled by evil spirits. I can hardly laugh and have fun. I feel false guilt. I feel mute at times. The trouble is none of my pastors or counselors have considered this a real problem. Jesus cast out demons out of the lost house of Israel, his believers. If the evil spirits went out of an unbeliever, 7 more awful ones would enter back in. But Jesus specialized in casting demons out of believers. And he commissioned his disciples to do the same. What do you guys think about casting devils out of believers when they are troubled and vexed for no apparent reason?
There is huge ignorance on this subject and many pastors don't touch it and don't have the power to touch it, thus we have a highly unempowered Church. The born again believer cannot be indwelt by a demon. Demons can attach to one's flesh, which can be equally bad. One could speculate on the origin of your difficulty but it is more important for you to become fully informed of your authority in Christ and take bold, decisive action to counter the source of your torment.
The important thing to realize is that Jesus defeated Satan at the cross and we have total dominion over the devil and his demonic horde. Jesus in Mt 10, Luke 10 and Mk 16 declares the power and authority the disciples have. We have clear, unmistakable dominion over the devil. God will not exercise your power for you. You must exercise that power with your free will and stand up to the devil yourself by realizing that "greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world". You must resist the devil and he will flee. You naturally don't have to go it alone and it is advisable to be surround yourself with believers.

First, stop thinking about these things - of which I frankly doubt their existence.

They were all destroyed after Jesus's, God's, resurrection "It is finished!" Jesus's, God's words John 19:30

They don't exist and were turned into little macromolecules of nothing, destroyed be Jesus, who is God!

Don't let people tell you that some "thing" is attacking you as they were all destroyed. Jesus, who is God, conquers all! PRAISE JESUS! Focus on Jesus ALONE-

"12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I AM the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Jesus's, God's words John 8:12

"I have ALL the power on heaven and on earth"

"I and my father are ONE" "Before Abraham was, I AM" "When you see Me, you see the father"

It's absolute miniscule atoms and truly it doesn't exist. Jesus, who is God, is the #1 authority and He controls this earth AND heaven.

I mean, what is that a speck of dirt?

Don't believe this either! YOU control your actions, nothing and no one else can control you.

"You have to realize that you control your actions and attitude not anyone else. You can be influenced to do certain things, but you have the final decision on what you actually do.

TOP 1% BOTTOM LINE: The good news is that you control your actions, which means that your results are dependent on what you do on a consistent or inconsistent basis. Many people want success overnight (this would be a good time to identify what that means to you), but success is a process that is created by the actions and ownership we take over time. Be honest, will your actions lead to the results you want? There is still plenty of time to assess where you are in different areas of your life and decide what shifts, if any, need to take place to get the results you desire.
Position Yourself for Success « Positively Positive

There is nobody around here that I know who would touch this subject. Even my Christian counselor wouldn't want to.
Don’t let the losers around you control your actions. Being successful is a continuous journey. Don’t get tied to “your place”, keep moving. Allow them to fill up and follow. You are the leader.
Management tips from James Bond 007

It's been a long journey, but I do believe in Jesus (help my unbelief). I confess to him and have faith that He is my only hope for salvation.

I am very afraid and can't do this on my own.
"But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
Jesus's, God's words, Matthew 14:27

Matthew 28:10 "Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul:"
Jesus's, God's words Matthew 10:28

" “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
Jesus's, God's words, Matthew 6:25-26

"You control your actions and only have an effect on those people and things connected to you through relations and activities. The rest of the world and life you cannot control, so take some advice from one of my favorite Philosophers Bill Murray – “It Really Doesn’t Matter”."

Jesus, who is God, rules all and everything.

They fail and they are idiotic, worthless, and not even worth mentioning because they are so worthless. They don't exist, they are destroyed. Science anyone? JESUS, who is God is ALL POWERFUL ruler.

Good and gone, Jesus WON. IT IS FINISHED John 19:30.

After the resurrection, the apostles cast out demons so they still existed.

There is no evidence that Jesus' words, "It is finished" had anything to do with the destruction of all the demons in creation, especially since there is plenty of talk of Satan role in the end-times. He meant that his work on Earth as a human was done.

Very few Christians today like to think of Satan and demons because they exist in a weak and unempowered church. We tell ourselves that all we need to do is have some form of watered-down faith and a weak belief in a vague God and some Nice-Guy Jesus who doesn't really care if we sin or not. We say a prayer one time at a revival and check off the "Saved" box on our To-Do list. A faith like that can't handle the Adversary, so we choose to turn him into a speck of dust that Nice-Guy Jesus will blow away while we justify our sins by calling them psychological disorders.

The only reason why I was giving that quote praise is the only way really to cast out demons is to disbelieve in their power and potential influence over you in the name of Jesus.

Constantly stating that demons are out there and are dangerous and will get you is only going to fuel them even more. Why preach about how powerful demons are rather than preach the power of Christ that conquers all?

Also, avoiding talking about demons to avoid instilling fear and possible attacks is NOT letting them into your mind. The way the *mind* works is whatever you believe has influence on you, that entity *will* have influence on you. If you believe it to be weak and the power of Jesus will overcome it, NO demons can have influence on you.

If you don't believe that, then Jesus must not have any power and people can't be in control of their own minds and the devil wins.

You're confusing the destruction of the legal grounds of satan's rule with his physical destruction. They are not the same. Jesus does rule over all, but in the Father's wisdom He allows things to play out respecting free will and its consequences.

This is why 1Peter warns us to be on our guard for the devil prowls about as a roaring lion. We should not be afraid of the devil, as we have delegated situational authority over him, but we should not be deluded into a premature triumphalism either.

Yes, Christians can be hassled by the devil. And it can even come down to the separation of spirit and soul that Hebrews 4 speaks of. But even in the worst case our spirits are protected in Christ, being in a one-flesh covenantal relationship with the Holy Spirit.

I've had several years worth of intense demonic activity in my Christian life. Right after I surrendered my lifestyle of partying and told God I wanted Him and Him alone to satisfy me and teach me about this new Life, I received His peace and joy for a time but shortly thereafter I experienced spiritual sight and spiritual hearing. I was truly freaked out. It caused me to cling to Jesus even tighter b/c who else would be able to help me against something spiritual. My marriage was rocky and I was filled with rage towards my husband. I certainly had a "spirit of anger" and I'd had it long before I met my husband. It caused my face to turn demonic in the mirror and it caused my arm to move upward w/o me trying to make it do so. I've also encountered spiritual pain from demons. None of this happened to me until I became a Christian. I used to be involved in the occult and visit psychics, rely on my horoscope, numerology, tarot cards, etc. to guide my decisions in life. Yes, there were some bad spiritual doors that were opened back then and maybe that's part of the reason why some of this awful stuff happened to me but over the years, I clung to the scripture that I would go from strength to strength. I can't tell you how strong the Lord is in me now because of the weakness I experience in my marraige and the evil one. I had the spirit of anger cast out recently and now I need to guard my heart diligently so as to not meditate on things that would allow that evil spirit back into my soul. We have to make that conscious decision to turn from whatever sin we're stuck in that's allowing the devil access. Unforgiveness is the devil's playground. We need to ask God to help us to continually forgive so we can truly be free in our hearts from the evil one. I still get the occassional crazy bad thoughts that I never used to get before I was a Christian but now that I know that I know that He who is in me is greater than he who is in the world, I have learned to keep my face toward the Lord and let Him fight my battles. He is my Peace forever. Remember the devil is a master deceiver. He usually goes to women first to deceive (just like w/ Eve in the Garden) so beware of that. Why should the devil try new devices when the old ones work? He is very cunning but we have the Mind of Christ and the Holy Spirit knows more than Satan does and if we learn to get really close and sensitive to the Holy Spirit, we will outsmart Satan every time! Hallelujah!

Interesting read (serious).

I don't believe in psychics though. I once went to a psychic and asked her if she could see Luna (my thoughtform). She couldn't tell me what she looked like.

Thus is why I see things in a psychological perspective and have a hard time in believing in spirits. Maybe collective unconscious, but not demons/etc.

Glad to hear you were saved!

Yes, the occult practices you were engaged in opened up the gateway for demons to harass you. Through my research into demonology a lot of things open up the gateways (it still sickens me that a lot of these things are considered "normal" in society today), you've described that you did a few of them, so you definitely did. May The Lord give you the strength to overcome them!

I had a lot of issues between the ages of 17 and 22. Severe depression, self mutilation, drug use. Around 19, due to this fact, I had abandoned the Faith entirely, accepting Nihilism as my philosophy of choice (this only made the problem worse). At the age of 21 or so, I had sense come back to my acceptance of Christ.

However, the problem didn't go away. Despite the number of my own prayers, the number of people who layed hands on me, the number of exorcism attempts...I could still feel this thing attached to me. Note that initially, I had made the mistake of inviting it in - and regardless of your religion, this is generally considered a VERY big no-no.

I was 22 when someone I knew offered to help. This person had been deemed "Satanic" by some, "far out there", "off the deep end". I said, "yeah, whatever." On top of the fact that they were involved with that which could apparently have no effect, they were thousands of miles away.

At precisely 2:22 PM I was outside taking a break at work, feeling depressed, feeling hopeless. All of a sudden I felt the connection sever - I could still feel a presence of some sort, MAYBE, but the control I had given up upon invitation was restored. It was like the hot molten chain around my neck had suddenly slipped off and been placed around the neck of that which oppressed me...I could hear IT screaming now, it had been beaten.

2 minutes after this (2:22 PM) I got a text message. "Did you feel anything?"

I was shocked. Much of what I thought I knew had been thrown out the window. Since that day, while the journey hasn't been easy (it never is), I have successfully quit crystal meth, marijuana (though I'm not opposed to it in all cases), my self hate is now acceptance, I've got much more peace of mind, and I've realized that hope and purpose have not abandoned me - it was I that abandoned them in the first place. God has my heart and has not failed me, and He will not; my relationship with Him is stronger than it ever was, then.

And of course, I've been cast out of the church (I was never asked to leave, mind you, but had to) and regarded by most Christians as "lost". All I know is that God works in mysterious ways, and after this day I haven't been the same - for the better.

Constantly stating that demons are out there and are dangerous and will get you is only going to fuel them even more. Why preach about how powerful demons are rather than preach the power of Christ that conquers all?

How can a person ask for the power of Christ to conquer a demon if he doesn't believe they exist and have the ability to influence him? The Joker (Batman's foe) is not real, so would you ask Christ to help Batman defeat him?? Of course not. Because you know he's not real. Likewise, if you "know" that demons aren't real, then you would never ask for Christ to help you get rid of them.

No one is saying that demons are all-powerful and that a person who has them is doomed. In fact, everyone is saying the opposite. It is a strawman argument to suggest that believing in demons weakens your faith in Christ. Jesus believed in demons and it didn't diminish him at all.

You have a "thoughtform" named Luna that you would expect a psychic to see and have a hard time believing in spirits??
