For argument's sake assume that after tax, the market price was similar to tobacco.

Then I'd check with some friends to see if it stores well and if so stock up.

We all know what direction tobacco taxes are going.

If flat out legal I'd think about growing some. But my house backs up to a local park where too many kids smoke pot. (Generally better than drinkers, no emptys with pot). But I wonder if any pot plants would be safe.

I smoked grass for almost 20 years when it wasn't legal. Honestly, I enjoyed it, and it never interfered with my career. My wife didn't like it, so I quit when I got married. In the last 20+ years, I've never really missed it. I might dabble a bit if it were decriminalized. And if it wasn't too expensive, and I wasn't subject to drug testing.

Though I wouldn't want to gain weight. :D

This question assumes it is not legal in some sense where you live.

Would you smoke pot if it were legal to do so?

Not necessarily on a regular basis, maybe just to try or on occasion.

No - have you ever tried to have an intellegent conversation with a pothead?

I wouldn't because I don't like the way it smells.

My boyfriend does though, and he pointed out something that I didn't know--good quality weed doesn't make people into 'potheads' in the sense that we're used to thinking about them, stupid and dull. If the pot is good, you only need to take a couple hits to get a nice high and your mental faculties remain about the same. If it's old or of bad quality, you have to smoke a great deal more of it to get the same good feeling, and it slows you down and makes you dumb. From what I've observed, the only difference between when he has or hasn't been smoking weed is the way his breath smells, and he only smokes the good stuff. It hasn't hurt his ambition either--he owned his own business for ten years and is currently pursuing his masters.

So, I wouldn't partake for the same reason I don't drink beer--I don't like how it tastes/smells--but I am pro-legalization. I think that the benefits to society if pot were legal far outweigh the downsides.
