It's not just the media but they definitely carry much of the blame. Many colleges have extremely liberal deans and professors who unabashedly promote liberal ideas in their classroom, which I don't believe is right either. It's not a professor's job to tell you about their politics, whether liberal or conservative. That has no place in a classroom that's supposed to be about objective and factual learning.

The media's fawning over Obama has certainly left a bad taste in my mouth but that kind of behavior has been going on for decades. News as a whole in our country is unreliable and far too slanted. I hate having to watch and read multiple sources just to get every side of the story when a good journalist could provide me with all of that in one story.
I agree about politics in the classroom. I went to two colleges and was fortunate no one pushed their beliefs on us either way. Even the Poli Sci professor! He just taught us the concepts. He was awesome too. Powers I think his name was. Community colleges rock.

No, the fawning only started back when he was first running. However, they've promoted other Democratic candidates (Clinton, Kerry, Pelosi, Reed, etc.) and tried to tarnish Republicans by trying to make them look heartless or stupid. That's the biggest issue that I have with the mainstream press: they no longer try to hide their bias. I didn't see any of the major networks (aside from Fox) criticize anything Obama said last year during the election, yet they attacked Romney continuously with accusations and reports that had no basis in fact. All I want is to see both parties treated equally, and I think many Americans do to. Just tell us what's honestly happening and let us decide what we think.

Immediately after the Boston bombings this week there were already commentators saying that it was probably a Tea Party activist or some disgruntled opponent of Obama. I have no tolerance for that kind of blatant demonization. There's a serious level of hate and disdain for anyone on the right that I find unsettling. You can disagree with someone but actually hoping that a terrorist bombing can be blamed on them? That's a new kind of low.
Some of them really are heartless and stupid. Those types are not equal and should not be presented as equal. Equal as quality politicians that is.
:)

I know a lot of Democrats are as well. Just from what we keep seeing, the Republicans are stiving, and succeeding, to be worse. A lot worse in some cases. That's the difference.

And yet the bombers had Muslim ties. How many terrorist attacks is the Tea Party responsible for?
The original one was a doozie.
;)

I think if we substitute "platform" for "agenda" and just move on, we'd be a lot happier. Everyone has an agenda if you look at it like that and it's perfectly reasonable.

I'm not a super right wing conservative but I pride myself on my ability to get inside the head of my opponents. I used to even listen to Rush Limbaugh if you can believe that. Below is my list of what I think GOP types "think" is the liberal agenda.

Liberals pander to women and minorities because that is the only way they can get enough votes to retain power

Liberals exaggerate minor race and sex issues so they can keep the nonexistent issues of racism/sexism alive to keep women and minorities in their pockets

Liberals abuse the first amendment so they can promote immorality and destroy traditional American values (w TV shows like Will & Grace)

Liberals want to destroy the sanctity of marriage by forcing gay marriage onto the American public

Liberals are anti-Christian and seek to eliminate all Christian influence and or references (like Holiday tree instead of Christmas tree)

Liberals are against the Free Market and Capitalism and believe in Socialism and Wealth redistribution

Liberals believe the military is way too big and the only use for the military is Self Defense and that America should have an isolationist policy

Liberals believe that Foreign policy should involve consensus with the UN and dealing with other States from a position of weakness (talking)

Liberals believe that the rich should be punished with higher taxes

Liberals believe that unions, regulation, and government oversight are the only means of keeping Corporations in check because Corporations are evil

Liberals believe that Government is a force for good and should have a proactive role in managing the Economy and various aspects of society

Liberals believe that abortion and promiscuity should not only be encouraged but should be taught in schools and promoted with groups like Planned Parenthood

Liberals want to use gun control as an excuse to eventually repeal the 2nd amendment and take all the guns

Liberals believe in Global Warming and want to cripple the country with nonsensical environmental restrictions that would destroy the Economy

Liberals believe in Evolution and want to remove anything dealing with God from the classroom.

Liberals believe in cloning and stem cell research and see nothing wrong with experimenting on unborn children.

Liberals believe in wealth redistribution and that the rich should pay for everyone else's entitlements

Liberals believe that the Government should provide Socialist Healthcare to all
I think that this is a list with a lot of specifics pertaining to the OPs query

At least she provided links to back up her assertions. What have her detractors provided to prove her wrong, other than ridicule?
She provided links that back up her assertions about "destroying America" and what that actually means? Must have missed them.

I tend not to post links much any more. If people really wanted information, they could google for it as easily as I could.

And the invariable response is sarcasm and ridicule, with or without links. The agenda of the left breeds such a high level of cynicism in people, that ridicule has not only become the typical response, but more and more the only response to anything at all.

Try being a moderate some time, then your finely crafted, insightful, well thought out posts get ridiculed by both sides. Which is why I now mostly limit myself to cynical sniping. I'm sick of my honest attempts at open, friendly dialogue being thrown back in my face, usually with a healthy dose of condescension and insults.

This is very true. And it's probably the reason why I have so many people on the politics and news forums on "Ignore". :)

I don't even know where the ignore button is...

Simplicity itself, old boy---you go to the top of the page and click on "User CP". Scroll down on the left-hand side until you find "Edit Ignore List" and click on that. Type the user name of the ignoree into the provided box, and click on "Okay".

Easy, fun, and profitable. ;) The ignoree's posts become invisible, and you never have to worry about reading their inanities again.

At its core, I always hear one thing in common when referring to the liberal agenda.

Liberals always want to give people "stuff". This "stuff" can be materialistic like welfare or employment or non-materialistic like allowing abortions. From what I understand, since the person is receiving stuff from the liberals, they will always vote for them because the conservatives are trying to take it away from them (or so they're led to think).

With that voter who will always vote for them, they can impose whatever policies they wish and the voter will continue to vote for them because voting for the other side would make them either lose their stuff or have to work for what would come to them for free as long as they just continue to vote liberal, allowing liberals to have a willing authoritarian dictatorship of the people.

If I got that mixed up, it's because I'm trying to take the one thing just about every conservative I know at work has told me in common and tried to mix it together haphazardly.

Most everyone is rude here. I don't see why anyone is pointing fingers.

I do make an effort to be civil. But I know not everyone does, or does anymore.

This is happyfunland compared to where I was at just a month ago. Just sayin'. ^_^
