Aaron Harvey's son wrote as part of a school lesson, "I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure." TheBlaze has redacted the child's name.

Harvey's son attends Cedar Hills Elementary in Jacksonville, Fla. Back in January, a local attorney came in to teach the students about the Bill of Rights. But after the attorney left, fourth-grade teacher Cheryl Sabb dictated the sentence to part of the class and had them copy it down, he said.

What a glorious member of the Ministry of Education and Propaganda! It's like Comrade Lenin once said, "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted." :congratm:

First of all, notice that this column doesn't even claim to have reached out to the Sabb for comment. From Albury's comment it's abundtly clear that she didn't ask Sabb before responding.

Second, it's possible that Sabb didn't make a statement but instead ask "Am I willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure?". This goes back to my first comment.

The column is carrying a story from The Blaze which, in fact, did reach out to Sabb. I don't post anything from the Blaze because they do not monitor their comments.

According to Sabb, the student wrote it of his own free will, yet the children in class are all saying Sabb handpicked students to write the sentence.

The Blaze as a source...

yet imagine the comments that would amass if someone were to use someplace such as... the Daily Kos as a source.

It's enough to make a person snort. ^_^

Yes, you use that place all the time, or at least the yahoo version of it when they carry a Daily Ko---- oh, right.

I don't get it tho. Why would you listen to anything that comes out of the Blaze after the gold markets today? Or did Beck already abandon his sponsorship with Goldline?

I ask because this little number channels the same fear that brought people to buy gold when it was 30% higher than it is right now.

Until I see it on a slightly more neutral source (or a mainstream conservative site like Weekly Standard even), I would think its at best an exaggeration.

It's been carried by:
Fox
Washington Times
Yahoo
International Business Times
And local news.

Maybe it's fake, people fake things all of the time, but if so, then it's weird all of the kids are saying it happened.

Ah, how things have changed in our dying, gasping, decaying country....

It all reminds me a great deal of this story, which I first read when I was nine years old. It had been published six years before, in 1964:

The Children's Story

Meh, it reads like simplistic anti-communist rhetoric.
