The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan

Bacha Bazi (Persian: بچه بازی literally "playing with boys"), also known as bacchá ' (from the Persian bacheh بچه "child, young man, calf") is sexual slavery and child prostitution in which prepubescent and adolescent boys are sold to wealthy or powerful men for entertainment and sexual activities. This business thrives in southern Afghanistan, where many men keep them as status symbols. Some of the individuals involved report being forced into sex. The authorities are barely attempting to crack down on the practice but many doubt it would be effective since many of the men are powerful and well-armed former commanders.

A documentary by Najibullah Quraishi about the practice was aired on PBS Frontline in the United States, and True Stories in the UK on 20 April 2010. This film premiered at the Royal Society of Arts on 29 March 2010.

I don't know what to say about this. I almost cried and definitely got teary eyed when I first heard it. I just wish there was something I could do. I mean, I am trying to remember to pray about all of this, but I just hate hearing about it. It is just so awful. How can people be so evil? I just can't wrap my mind about the concept of how someone can do that. I just wish that there was something to be done. I think the worse thing of it, is that it isn't getting better, from what I can tell it is getting worse. It is absolutely devastating. It makes me want to cry.

PBS did a piece on the Bacha Bazi and how this particular man would procur the boys with promises of money. he was basically a pimp.

It is common for the Afghan warlords to have boys.

eastcoast bsc: I heard about that, but I haven't had the heart (or a decent computer) to watch it. It just makes me want to cry.

I was looking at some military stuff, I guess it was about Afghanistan, when I stumbled onto this. I didn't believe it at first. I didn't really want to read it either, but I just guess, I think I was hoping I misunderstood. I mean, I am 14, it isn't like I just like reading this. It seriously hurts me to read about it.
