Hi.

when you are are in times of trouble do you have the will to devoutly pray for others a sincere prayer?

Thanks and this is a good question and in my opinion with an easy answer.

When thinking about your question/statement, the first thing that comes to mind is when Jesus was on the cross at Calvary. Jesus had gone through physical, mental, and a deep sense of spiritual strain that we cannot even begin to imagine. It is this example that I want to use to help frame your state of mind when you present that form of a question.

Given all that Jesus had gone through prior to the cross and during the time he was being prepped for the cross and the torment while on it, still, he found time and a place to pray for his people. In that, we can never endure what he did especially at that time in his life. So given all of that, it is at out weakest times that we find out just how strong we really are. It is when we are facing uncertainty that we find out just how much faith we can put to action that we really possess.

I hope that this has helped you and others when thinking about your question. Is it easy; surely not, but is it hard; the answer remains the same. It is just a matter of how willing are we to do it despite how we ourselves may be feeling at the time that prayer for others are being requested.

Lastly, think about a pastor. No matter how much in the word they are or how deep they are in their faith and practice of being who they are, a pastor, they are still human. But does this stop them for praying for their church or serving as pastors, no. So again, take that example and first and foremost the example in Jesus Himself and may the grace of God, the sweet communion of the Holy Spirit, rest rule and abide in your life forever; in Jesus name...Amen.

Hope that helps.

I find it easy to pray for people if I have a burden for them.

thank you king enigma and saved24 and i see that you meet at one point that it may be more easy at our weakest times, and i would like to ask you about it by the following:
It is just a matter of how willing are we to do it despite how we ourselves may be feeling at the time that prayer for others are being requested. Lastly, think about a pastor. No matter how much in the word they are or how deep they are in their faith and practice of being who they are, a pastor, they are still human.
They are still a human that is right, but they are also a pastor who have a mission and we all know the mission of Jesus that made him to pray for others, but what about the common people like me, is it possible to keep this flame in the will and thus pray for others a sincere prayer? and how?

Thanks for the reply and if I am understanding your reply correctly, let me say this. First of all, after looking through some of the word, here is what I found that I think fits your situation/question/statement most appropriately.

Psalms 102:17 says; "He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer."

Here is my thing and allow me to make this more common or relevant if you will.

On my job, I have a supervisor who is also a Pastor. I did not know this until some months later but here is my point. I am by no means a pastor or someone that places myself in high esteem over all others. But at one point, this guy makes an issues with our director against me and I caught him in the situation where I showed him how he was being judgmental and even my director saw where his points were not totally valid. Even still, for months later, he continued to purposely mistreat me, not talk to me, only approach me regarding work and then was short when he had to speak. He even went on to make it a point to to speak to me in a way that was as if he needed to show his authority in the process.

Now, on top of all of this, I have a daughter (19) that has her own struggles my wife and I are trying to help her with, family drama, marital stress (at that time) and just personal things period on and off. That's life. Point; I was not at my best plus dealing with all that at work and yet I found time to pray for him in spite of my personal feelings. I could have very well easily been like dude ____ him. Yeah, you fill in the blank. Again I am a Christian, but even I have my struggles and short comings, but instead, I took the high road and stayed the course and today, he is now more back to the way it began regarding a relationship and on much better terms.

Secondly, whether you are a pastor, a common day to day person, or even a sinner, it is never a bad time to pray and no one is never too much to pray for. As for how to pray, just as you would speak your mind to a person you can see, speak from the heart just as you would with that person but with God. And if you do not know what to say, remember this scripture...

Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And then, if all else fails, you can always go back to the following...
Matthew 6:5-15

This scripture reference not only talks about Prayer; Matthew 6:9-14, but it also talks about forgiveness in that as well.

I hope that is a more personal approach even in using myself to say what I hope you understand as well as on prayer or how to pray. If you need anything, you can always reply away and I'll try to give an appropriate answer.

For me, now today... I am having the very worst discouraged day. I am in pain from an operation & this pain should be diminishing more. To add insult to injury i have a very painful mouth sore & my lower jaw bone is showing on that sore. I'll see a dr. on tuesday as I live very far from town & am not aloud to drive for the next two weeks.

I sat for a few hours this morning wallowing in my self pity but the Lord kept reminding me that there are those who deal with these things who dont have Him. So I started to pray & ended up here, in this place, looking to the prayer requests of others. Everyone has their lot in life. I told a friend of mine who lost her husband 3 years ago that I had surgery. I was there for her in her loss & through these years though she hates my Lord.

She didnt even acknowledge my pain or ask what the surgery was for or even acknowledge that I mentioned it, she is so focused on her own pain she can in no way reciprocate friendship. Being this way, though her sadness is justified, she will find herself alone.

Praying for others takes our focus off of our own troubles and puts our focus on assisting others through our relationship with our beautiful Lord. BTW, I've prayed for you.

God Bless you as you sort this out. hugz.
