I think people are bothered by the fact that she keeps trying to intrude on our eating habits. She comes across as "big sis" in the old communist progandist sense.

So it is obvious Americans who disagree with her intrusions will hold her to a higher standard. To be honest, she is a bit hefty. I saw a recent picture of her from behind and lets just say, she was a bit ample.
So was Laura Bush intruding on our reading habits? Was she a big sis in the old communist propogandist sense?

And lol on "hefty". She is FIT. That's muscle.

Very unflattering angle. Thick wool suit. Waist pinched in so by comparison the rest of her looks big.

There are a lot of ugly people in this thread.

I disagree with Michelle Obama on...well, pretty much everything.

While I don't find her to be particularily attractive, I would never call her ugly. There are many people who I am not attracted to who cannot be called ugly. Though she doesn't have the body of a fashion model, she is in reasonably good shape compared to your typical 40-something mother-of-two. Regardless of appearence, it is said that she works out regularily...."A" for effort there, most people don't bother.

No, but it's documented and more likely to be true than most people's amateur lipreading. But here's two other sources if you don't like Snopes.

PolitiFact | Have lip readers figured out Michelle Obama's 9/11 comments?

or
Michelle Obama: 'All This for a Damn Flag?' - Urban Legends

The First Lady was commenting to the President on how moving and powerful it always is to watch all that America's firefighters and police officers do to honor the flag. It was an emotional moment on a powerful day and she was awed by the ceremony and all that the flag symbolizes.
Contrary to what's claimed above, no instructors employed by the River School in Washington, D.C. participated in the interpretation of Michelle Obama's lip movements in the video in question.

"Please be advised," read a statement posted on the school's website in 2011, "that the River School was not involved in any translation services for a recent video clip currently circulating on the Internet." The denial was reaffirmed by River School director Nancy Mellon in a statement quoted by Politifact.com. "It's definitely not us," Mellon said. "We would never try to do anything like this."

33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. 34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

Certainly virginity and the single life, devoted to God is a higher calling, the Catholic Church makes that quite clear. Still, there is no shame in marrying, marriage is an honorable vocation, and those who marry are called upon to love their spouses. Just because perpetual virginity in consecration to the Lord is a higher calling does not mean that everyone is called to it, and the Church has made that very clear.

Because a lot of people are hateful. It's the same reason Rush made fun of Chelsea Clinton's looks when she was a preteen and a lot of people laughed. I'm too young to remember the discourse when HW Bush was president so I don't know how Barbara was spoken of, but I do know Laura Bush did not receive the level of vitriol that Michelle or Hillary received as first ladies.

Michelle and Hillary are educated professionals, that's why they receive a lot of vitriol. In Republican circles, eddicated wimmins are still looked down upon as being above themselves.
