I would like to know what the Restoration movement teaches about Christians and war. Do you go back to the view of the early church? Thanks for any info. Don't want to overlook any Christian assembly on my site.

I am afraid you have posted on a dormant board. The Restoration folks seem to have vanished some time ago.

I am not a member of a Restoration church, but from what I do know of them, pacifism is not an issue at all. They range from entirely neutral on the topic to slightly in favor of military matters. They do not perceive this to be a Christian issue.

Christians are at war each and every day. We're in a spiritual war not only with ourselves but against spiritual darkness in high places.

As for physical war (and speaking only for myself) I believe that there may be just cause if the cause is just. I have nothing against taking up arms to protect myself, family, and local community. For instance, if China or King George sent troops onto the soil of my homeland for the sole purpose of subjugating me and my countrymen then I would gladly stand and fight with grit and fervor.

I'm opposed to war if the purpose is to "police" another nation or to further the aims of Globalism. I'm also opposed to sending men into harm's way simply because a political ally requests it.

One of the founder of the Restoration Movement was Alexander Campbell. Here is something he wrote.
Alexander Campbell - Address on War

Most of those associated with this movement are not pacifists. I don't know of any official stance. Restoration Movement churches have no creed, but the Bible, and each church is autonomous, so view will change from place to place.

Here is an article by Wayne Jackson, he is a Restoration Movement teacher.

i belong to an RM church, where the bible speaks we speak, where the bole is silent we sre silent. so each man or woman will have to search the scriptures and decide for themselves. there verses that can support either view. i served 15 yrs but i have just as much respect for the man that decides it's wrong for him.. my favorite movie is Sgt. York, a vile sinner on his way to kill a man when God knocked him off his horse like Paul. he had to make the decision as a soldier as to what he should do as a christian.

The Churches of Christ have a strong history of pacifism. The major publication of the CoCs (the Gospel Advocate) was censured during WWI and Cordell Christian College shut down after the government told them that all anti-war faculty had to resign. During the 40s, the movement almost swung 180 degrees. There is still a band of pacifism running through the Restoration Movement, but it is a small minority.
