lol,

Obama: I'm more worried about college players. NFL players have unions and generally good compensation; they can make informed decisions about the risks
MZ: OBAMA SAYS COLLEGE STUDENTS CAN'T MAKE THEIR OWN CHOICES!
Me: He's saying they've got unions and compensation
MZ: so only people in unions can make their own choices?
The rest of the thread:

That's only "Apparent" to YOU. No one with any reason and common sense would come to such a conclusion.
Then it's odd that he doesn't view college students as grown ups. Remember, colleges have men's and women's sports programs, not boys' and girls' programs

The entire context of the statement makes it clear he's contrasting the compensation professionals receive and the aid they get with that of college players.
The context was being grown up and having the ability to make decisions

You could only come to that conclusion if you either don't understand English or your hatred of Obama is so blinding that you may as well not understand English.

Here's that second paragraph again:

Seriously. (this goes to MachZero, too) Are you lazy? Are you trolling? Do you find the man so distasteful that you just make up stuff about him to fuel your hatred? What is it that keeps you from missing such an obvious point? Do you really not understand what he's saying? Because talking to some of you guys is getting to be absurd.

-Dan.
Yes, let's read the paragraph again

"I tend to be more worried about college players than NFL players in the sense that the NFL players have a union, they're grown men, they can make some of these decisions on their own, and most of them are well-compensated for the violence they do to their bodies. You read some of these stories about college players who undergo some of these same problems with concussions and so forth and then have nothing to fall back on. That's something that I'd like to see the NCAA think about."

No doubt that implies that college men are not really grown up, not capable of making decisions on their own

My high school had men's and women's teams too, but that doesn't make 15 and 16 year olds men or women. The rest of it is you being deliberately obtuse.

Your high school may have cutely called their teams mens' and womens' but they were misnomers.

Which goes to show that what a program calls itself has no real relevance to the discussion.
However, it doesn't justify insinuating that college football players are not grown men capable of making their own decisions
