what is true revival ???? Please vote !

I think true revival results in people surrendering to the Will of God. I guess I could have voted for the first option, but didn't feel it covered it all. What I mean by surrender is a lost soul will place saving faith in Jesus, and Christians will experience a greater depth of love for God (1st option) while some will surrender and commit themselves to serve where the Lord leads, whether Pastoral ministry, or missions, etc. When we get to the point of God first, others next, me last then we will know true and real revival. The best example we have is the book of Acts, but a better example? It will be us.
The last outpouring, the true latter rain, we are told, will be greater than the former. Greater. It will be like a wildfire, burning through denominational differences, burning out love for the things of the world. It will not be WILD wildfire, no craziness, no fleshly manifestations, no pride filled "look at me" agendas. Humility will be the watchword, and tears of repentance will be replaced by tears of joy. Only then will we look back on what we tried to pass off as the true faith and be ashamed of ourselves and the pride that blinded us.
It will be all consuming, as people long bound by sin and self love will sell all their pearls, the biggest one being self-rule, in response to the amazing thing God will have done IN them. Their lamps will have been lit. The world, long turned off by our bushel basket approach to Christianity, and our hypocrisy and shallowness, will instead either loath us and fear us, or fall on their knees and say with amazement:
"Look! That which was a field of thorns and briars has become like the garden of Eden."
This last revival will sweep millions into the kingdom and as well, cast out millions who want religion as usual, who will run back to their real love, self and the world that can pamper it.
Addicts and those who are last in our eyes will be so liberated from their chains that any longing for freedom WILL find it as they put off their old man like a dirty soiled rag. They will wash their eyes with eyesalve and see. They will buy of the Father real riches- faith in a God who cannot lie, who cannot fail. They will gladly put on robes of righteousness, the new nature each of us is promised, and walk as we have all wanted to walk on the inside fro the day we were first saved.
In this last revival, free indeed will mean just that. FREE INDEED. The glorious liberty of the children of God will not be a myth, but dead-on reality.
TV's will be off, prayer closets will be warm and inviting. God will be real. God's word to us will be a glistening sword, a book of promises made by our God who cannot lie, and shields of faith will be large and NOT dusty, LOL. Abiding will be a reality. The joy of the Lord WILL be our strength.
THAT is real revival. Not a shower, not a summer storm, but an outpouring dwarfing all previous showers combined. It is coming. The bride WILL be one with one another, not because we tried to be in our feeble human efforts , but because we will have finally become one with HIM.
May God open our eyes. He said that He would do a work in our day, that if our eyes diid not see it, we would not believe it. Guess what? We are the ones who are about to see it...and BE IT. Glory to God.

walk in the Spirit, the flesh won't be gratified, for the most Part, Paul stressed a two creation theology, and knowing the resurrected Christ in Phil 3, so to me, alot of this revival chat misses the point. A collective bemoaning, for lack of a better word.
Paul speaking as an individual, wanted to know Christ, that layed hold of Him, me.
that's all, simple. I don't need to wait for the masses to enjoy the Lord.

Even though the concept of revival is noble, it is still something that the Scriptures do not seem to speak about nor are we even taught to seek for it. The New Testament writers simply prescribed a standard for Christian living and if we desire to obtain to that standard then we simply need to return to the Scriptures and do what it says something that is easier said than done of course!

I think true revival occured when souls are saved, and the community as a whole comes to God in repentance of their sins.

I was thinking yesterday, the pentecostal revival in the sixties or seventies, was at the same time as the sexual revolution, hippies finding Jesus. With so much drug addicts, pot addicts, medicine addicts, homosexuals, inappropriate content addicts, broken marriages nowadays.. All they're looking for is His love and they seach in the wrong places.

This is actually difficult to explain but it is better experienced! It is unrestricted manifestation of God head in the affairs and fellowship of men. Maintaining the presence of God is one of the most difficult thing with men where flesh constantly seek to take control. Where flesh is alive (not fully crucified) there is the tendency for God presence to be alien. Roman 8:6-9 revealed the incompatibility of God and carnality!
The genuine absence of the manifestation of flesh may be taken as the entrance into the perfect fellowship with God. Then it will be natural to do away with seeking for position, denomination politics and all sort of deception! There is no point man; the Gospel is not built around any human being we are subject to control and unity of the spirit! There will be perfect joy that cannot be terminated by events and circumstances! Jesus is the centre of every message, decision and actions! The Holy Spirit is not left on the seat to watch the fruitlessness in human labour but in perfect control edifying every one and preparing us for the Kingdom of God!

This is precisely true, we ARE the latter rain. We are walking in 'I will pour out my Spirit' . . . it started on the day of Pentecost and has continued since then.
As for the original post, I define revival as 'returning to your first love'. You can have individual revival, family revival, church revival or even a larger trend. Revival or 'revive' means to renew or refresh, so it refers to Christians and their relationship with the Lord.

There are some who say THE FORMER and LATTER rains will FALL together, AKA Joel 2v23 if I am not mistaken....THAT is yet to happen. x

For me, I equate revival with the times when Jesus explained it as: "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."
There are times and places where the power of God is manifested, and people are saved, healed, and delivered. It is accompanied with a sense of awe, and those who's hearts are soft fall on their knees in repentance and/or openness to Him.
Those who's hearts are hardened to God will go into a back room and devise plans to stop it!
I think true revival is marked not by the signs and wonders, but by the numbers of people who turn from their sin. When Jesus preached, his followers were 'baptized unto repentance' by the disciples.

In light of the fact that the apostles thought the day of the Lord was soon, there is not much room left for this latter rain season in their minds. They were wrong on timing, but at least they were clealry not thinking about this latter rain event.
The other problem is, it creates a perception that Christ is not in them now, after all, they have to keep waiting on a future calendar date, instead of Christ in them now, the glory is now, through the gospel, 2 cor 4:4.
Now manifest through the church, eph 3:10, paul said now...
But now the righteousness of God is revealed, Rom 3;21, now...
Grace is manifested now, through the appearing of Christ, who brought immortality through the gospel, now...2 Tim 1:9-10, now.
The other problem is, it creates a perception that Christ is not in them now, after all, they have to keep waiting on a future calendar date, instead of Christ in them now, the glory is now, through the gospel, 2 cor 4:4.

most Africans in the UK, have bought into the prosperity gospel, and it shows.
But saying that my close prayer buddies have seen the revelation of living a crucified life, as its the only one that leads to abundant Christlike living - where they from ?- ...........Nigeria !

As much as Prosperity gospel is being used does not limit the focus of devil in deceiving human being to only this!
