Clarke's Commentary on the Bible
Ye observe days - Ye superstitiously regard the Sabbaths and particular days of your own appointment;

And months - New moons; times - festivals, such as those of tabernacles, dedication, passover, etc.

Years - Annual atonements, sabbatical years, and jubilees.

Vincent's Word StudiesYe observe (παρατήρεισθε)

See on Mark 3:2, and see on John 18:12, and comp. Joseph. Ant. 3:5, 5, παρατηρεῖν τὰς ἑβδομάδας to watch the weeks. The word denotes careful, scrupulous observance, an intent watching lest any of the prescribed seasons should be overlooked. A merely legal or ritual religion always develops such scrupulousness.

Days

Sabbaths, fast-days, feast-days, new moons. Comp. Romans 14:5, Romans 14:6; Colossians 2:16.

People's New Testament
4:10 Ye observe. These are specifications of how they were turning back to the Jewish law. Compare Col 2:16.

Days. The Jewish Sabbaths.
Months. The new moons.

Times. The Jewish festivals.

Years. The Sabbatical years. In observing these there was legal bondage to an obsolete system.

Wesley's Notes4:10 Ye observe days - Jewish sabbaths. And months - New moons. And times - As that of the passover, pentecost, and the feast of tabernacles. And years - Annual solemnities. it does not mean sabbatic years. These were not to be observed out of the land of Canaan

no this, said right after it being a waste to get under the jewish calendar.

10 You observe [particular] days and months and seasons and years!

11 I am alarmed [about you], lest I have labored among and over you to no purpose and in vain.

12 Brethren, I beg of you, become as I am [free from the bondage of Jewish ritualism and ordinances], for I also have become as you are [[e]a Gentile]. You did me no wrong [[f]in the days when I first came to you; do not do it now].
Then why didn't you just say Galatians 4:12 to begin with, ya nut :D :p

Become as I [am] --because I also [am] as ye brethren, I beseech you; to me ye did no hurt,

#1189 used 22 times in 22 verses. 9 times in Gospels. 1 time in Matt {9:38}, 8 times in Luke, 7 times in Acts, 6 times in Paul's Epistles. Some versions render it as "urgue", and "beg".
The ISA renders it as "beseeching".

4:12
Be ye becoming! as I, that also I as ye brethren! I am beseeching/deomai <1189> (5736)
ye nothing me ye injure

Textus Rec.) Galatians 4:12 ginesqe wV egw oti kagw wV umeiV adelfoi deomai umwn ouden me hdikhsate

Strong's Number G1189 matches the Greek δέομαι (deomai), which occurs 22 times in 22 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

1189. deomai deh'-om-ahee middle voice of 1210; to beg (as binding oneself), i.e. petition:--beseech, pray (to), make request. Compare 4441.

i can quote ff bruce, one of the most repsected scholars of all time, he said the jewish calendar for gal 4:10, but the bottom line is, i proved it using the text, the issue was judaism, that was the direction, under law in 4:21, and 5:3.

why would they be going in two different directions?

Were they trying to make them jewish, or stay as pagans? Same compel or force word used in 2:14 with peter, and it was law there.

6:12 It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ.

They go in the pagan direction BECAUSE their theology needs pagans and cannot handle Judaism.

Hi bro, I dont getcha?:)

'tis simple, they need to deny that the days, months, times, and years are Jewish provisions in the Law because if they do not deny it then they can't pretend that the Law is binding.

Yeah discussing the MJ movement or real MJ folks is a messey endoeavor here. Unfortunately there are few true MJ folks posting here. Our problem comes from the people of MJ movement of which true MJ are not a part of in my understanding.

It seems to me, the cf site is allowing certain mj's to define mj here. Leaving out many jews and messianics in the process. It really ought not be done, but it sadly is.

So who has the final authority to determine who is or is not MJ?

romans 2:12
All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.

The author of romans stated there to be those apart from the law and those under the law. So there were obviously some in both sides. Paul himself states the law is good because unless it said 'do not covet' then we wouldnt know what coveting was. But Christ came and set us free from the law. the law only condemns you... the lord sets you free through his redemption. reliance on the law is reliance on your own works.

What is the place of the Law for someone who is NOT relying on it for redemption?
