I was in a physics class at college where the teacher asked for a volunteer to come up in front of the class to demonstrate an experiment.
So I got up in front of 200+ students and was the test subject for a reaction speed experiment. The teacher intended to demonstrate that no one could catch a dollar bill between their fingers in the way that she set up the demonstration. This was to demonstrate the speed of gravity and the physical limits of the human mind and body to react fast enough. I sat with my arm relaxed on a table, with my wrist extending off the table and my thumb and forefinger about two inches apart. She held a dollar bill, horizontally, between my two fingers and told me to try to catch it when she let go. She had a computer set up to measure the reaction speed of my attempt.
I proceeded to catch it. She thought I cheated by jumping the gun, so I did it again, and then again. She said it was the first time in ten years of using the demonstration that anyone had ever been able to catch the dollar bill.
My reaction speed was measured at faster than what is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
She let me keep the dollar.
