Knowledge wasn't the problem God had. It was do you love Me enough not do this. They failed the test and brought sin into the human race and all of Earth. sin started with Lucifer in heaven and has spread to us. God has no problem with learning anything that wasn't the point of the tree it was to show how loyal were we to God and not ourselves, Eve then Adam chose themselves over Him. God knew what would happen but because of free will He lets it play out so all know this. god wants us all to know just how evil sin is and what would happen if sin was in place of God, then when he returns like he promised in Matthew 24 he will end sin. If he did it any earlier the question would be around... would sin have been better than God, that's what Lucifer thought and he rebelled, if God just kill Satan and all sinners the second they sinned there would be no love in us for him which isn't what God wants. Once this Jesus returns we will know just what sin truly is and there wont be any more questions about whether or not God's law is the better law of the 2

Sin is not a creation. It is not an organism. It is a response. It is disobedience. God did create us with the capacity to sin. You say you think they are the same. I feel they are not. Jesus did not sin. Free will is not a sin. Responding negatively to that free will is. So, in my opinion God did not create sin itself. He allowed the capacity so that we would have a decision ob obedience or not.

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum. I hope this post is in the right place. I did search for similar threads before posting but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I'll try to keep my question as brief as possible!

Basically, I certainly do consider myself a Christian, though ill admit my relationship with God is not great at the minute. Like lots of other people I have had lots of questions about God over the years, some of which I have found answers to at the time, and others that I have been happy to say 'I'll find out one day'.

However, one question keeps coming back to me, which I have not found an answer for. It concerns the origins of sin. I don't consider myself a theologian so please forgive any errors.

In simple terms: I believe God made EVERYTHING. HE is the creator, and nothing exists that has not been created by God. Logic follows then, that God created sin - does it not? And if not created sin, created in man the propensity to sin - though I look at those as one and the same.

I'm always a bit depressed when preachers and writers attempt to answer 'the big questions' and examine predestination and evolution etc again and again, when for me, the question I have mentioned is the elephant in the room of my faith - which is genuine I might add.

Any help on this, or pointing in the right direction, or straightening out of wonky theology is greatly appreciated (without theology-specific words I need to look up in a dictionary).

Thanks :)

N

I think the problem is in seeing sin as a created thing. Sin is "hamartia" which means "missing the mark" of perfection in Christ. Every choice ever made that falls short of loving as Christ loves is sin. it's a condition of the heart.
