^^ Nice play on words.
This topic came to my mind the other day, after reading about the limited amounts of interbreeding between h. Sapiens and h Neanderthalensis. That caused some of their genes (very limited) to be passed on. I really never thought about all of it, despite thinking that theistic evolution was the answer to how we got here.
Any who, perhaps h. Neanderthalensis was something akin to those who were on the earth when Adam and Eve went into the world. After all, Cain and Seth both had wives, but from where? And there is the mention of Nephilim (which some thought were giants, or angels, or who knows what). Who were they? Outside of "sons of God" and "men of reknown", there is nothing said about them in the Cannon.
Not that I am saying that the creation story is literal, or that a literal Adam and Eve existed. But perhaps early h. sapiens passed on stories from generations past, which included the knowledge of these 'other' people on earth, who happened to be Neanderthals.
Or not.
