• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi Paul! Yes, you should see me without medication! :D

We do have a dog. She was a gift to us a little over 2 years ago. When we lived in CA we had a lemon-spotted beagle. She was killed by a coyote. A friend of ours saw a lemon -spotted beagle puppy that looks very much like her and gave her to us! Andrew adores her. He calls her his little sister! A lab would probably have been a better choice, but too late now. The beagle is a bit hyper and Andrew loves on her a bit too hard. He does not understand gentle very much. The poor dog gets squeezed a bit too hard at times, but she is very tolerant.

My hubby actually spent a good deal of time with Andrew yesterday! They sorted legos and built things.... I heaped on the praise for them both! It's so great to see them get along and spend time together.

Thank you for the encouragement and prayers! Andrew actually had a great day today and the principal talked to him about his anxiety. Somehow they got back on the subject of the lunch attendant that yelled at Andrew awhile back and the principal told Andrew that if she ever does that again she will be fired...so that made Andrew feel very happy!

I am praying that his "good day" is a tangible thing tomorrow morning as we get ready for school. I hope that he can remember that it isn't always bad.

God bless each of you for praying!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!

That all sounds really positive, Courtney - I'm so glad that Andrew had a good day at school, and that he was able to spend some good time with his daddy :)
Praying that the good days continue.
You are an amazing woman, sweetie - please remember to take care of yourself as well

Thank you so much! Andrew went to school with a smile on his face this morning! Praise God! I am praying he has a safe, awesome day and that he finds nice children to play with at recess! I just want him to be happy.

He does not know it yet, but he is going to have a subsitute for the next two days which I am a bit concerned about. Please pray with me that it will go smoothly and that he will do well and stay safe.

I am trying to remember to take care of myself Criada. It's just not in my nature - never has been- so I really have to make an effort to do so. I hope you are doing well!

Well, I was just called to come down to Andrew's school. He was kicked in the face(!) by another kid at recess. It broke his glasses, but other than that he is physically fine. I brought him is other pair of glasses and asked if he is okay and he started crying. Seems he lost his hat (it's cold here) today too. I get to go pick him back up soon, but I feel horrible that his day has been so bad. Now I KNOW it's going to be hard to get him to go the next few days with a subsitute teacher! Prayers appreciated!

Poor little lad! I'm so sorry that happened. Was it an accident or was the other kid deliberately attacking him?
Praying very much that the next few days will go well and that he will have a sustitute teacher who understands him and helps him to enjoy school. Praying for peace for you too, Court - I know this will have hurt you as much as it did Andrew

I know what you mean about looking after yourself - I'm useless at it as well. But do it for Andrew's sake - he needs you to be as well and happy as possible :)

Well, I got a bit more information out of him. It turns out he was walking UNDER the Monkey Bars when he got kicked! I of course told him to please be careful and not to walk near or under the Monkey Bars any more and to stay away from tether balls, etc. He just does not look where he is going...never has...he is in his own world.

Thank you so much for the prayers Criada! He is already crying tonight because he knows he has a subsitute for the next two days. I am trying to re-assure him that he's going to be fine and I have prayed with him. Now both he and I need to trust.

Thank you for the encouragement to look after myself....I need it!!!!!!! Much love, Court

Awwww Criada thanks for the prayers! Thanks also for asking. It was a rough few days with the substitute. She was very nice, but it was change which Andrew does not do well with. On top of it, he got hit in the head with a tetherball (again) at recess and broke his glasses (again). He truly just does not look where he is going! I'm just glad that it was just the glasses that got hurt and not him!

I am so glad the weekend is here and then he only has 2 days of school this week and then Thanksgiving break. We could use a break!!!

I am still very torn about Andrew and school. It is really hard for us both. I just want to protect him. I just wish there was another answer. I really appreciate the prayers and hope you are doing well!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you had a nice weekend, and managed to have some fun with Andrew
I'm praying that this week at school is a good one, and that Andrew's teacher is there all week!
He will be ok, sweetie - God is still looking after him even when you aren't there! School can be a hard place for sensitive kids, but it can also be a great blessing, and I'm sure that Andrew will get a lot out of it.
Keep looking after you as well!

Hi Sweetie! We did have a good weekend. Went to the movies and out to dinner for my birthday. I am sick, but trugged through anyway! Andrew had a great time and he and Daddy went shopping for me on Sunday and picked out some really cute gifts...so all in all it was fun. Just wish I could get well!

Thank you for the prayers that Andrew will have a good week at school! He only has monday and Tuesday and has the rest of the week off for Thanksgiving! I can't wait! He will have 6 days off together! He had a tough time getting to school this morning as he was scared and worried, but I am praying he will have a good day and stay safe!

Well, I am off to spend the day in bed hoping to get well before Andrew's "vacation". I really hope you are doing well! Love to you!

Hi Honey! thank you for your continued prayers. We are doing okay. Andrew goes back to school tomorrow after 6 days off. He is worried and scared already. I am going to miss him so much! It's been really nice having him home.

I am struggling with depression still. My hubby called me from work today to apologize for his behavior the past few days (he's been distant and gruff) and he just flat out said he just does not enjoy being a dad. That breaks my heart! Andrew needs him so much and gets so delighted when "Daddy" actually plays with him! I asked my husband to watch Andrew a few times this weekend in hopes that they would do something together, but he just sticks him in front of the TV.

Anyway, also had a rough spot with my sis and mother over the holiday... still praying about what to do about it...

How are you doing?

Thank you for your prayers Ruth!

I am really praying for my Andrew today. He was once again scared of going to school today. We once again spoke to his teacher this morning about it, and I now have a call in to the principal (waiting for a call back) to see if we can do anything at all to help him with his school anxiety.

I had a fleeting moment of madness this weekend while helping Andrew with his stack of homework from missing 4 days last week. Part of me just wants to home school him again, then reality hits and I have to remember my limitations with Bipolar. There are days wen I am really, really depressed and he does not deserve to be exposed to my ups and downs every single second of his life. He also is doing better academically at school than he was at home, so I have to remember that too. I just wish his anxiety would go away.
:crosseo:I am continuing to pray for you and your family.
