What about it? Stupid hateful people will say stupid hateful things.

Days before the election there were alot of tweets calling for romneys murder if he became president or calling for riots.

Both sides have morons.
The right-wingers insist that there is no racism except on the part of the lefties.

Actually, we argue that racism has been greatly reduced in the last 40 years, which the left denies. We also argue that tolerating and promoting hatred of whites by minorities, which is sometimes done by the left, is detremental to society as a whole.

The election has pointed the current state of racism in America. The Democrats have done a better job of giving lip service to recognizing that America is a country of many groups and that Whites are no longer able to dictate to the rest of the nation.

The GOP attempts to point out (I believe truthfully) that the Dems have done little more than talk. But the GOP hasn't even done that. Most Blacks, Latinos and other people are, at base, socially conservative. Talk to parents of all races and they say they want pretty much the same things. If the GOP wants to get back on top, they have to stop focusing on things that really don't matter to most people (gay marriage, Christian supremecy, Israel's wish list, etc.) and look for the common concerns like education, health care, jobs, housing.

And get over the "Muslim Menace" attitude. When minorities see conservatives trying to limit religious minorities from worshipping and living peaceable, they are suspicious of conservatives having power.

Then there's immigration......

Fact, but both sides should always try to call out morons if possible.

You have to admit its more acceptable to call out white racist morons than black ones. To call out black ones is to risk getting called a racist one's self. Recently I posted a link to some tweets that were of that very kind. I was reported and my post deleted.

Some racism is a bit more acceptable than others.

First of all: yes, there are some of vile racist statements going on out there. I don't think any reasonable person can deny there is *some* race-based opposition to this president.

Second of all: A fair number (if not most) of what the pro-Obama, anti-Republican crowd call "racist" is imagined, and they overuse the concept of "code words" to find racism where it isn't present. In their world, ANY criticism of the president and/or his policies MUST be motivated by his race, and therefore it's racism. In their flawed reasoning, if you don't support the president and don't like his policies, there can be ONLY one reason: race. That's because it's easier to demonize and discredit his opponents as racist than it is to substantively debate and refute their positions on the issues. It's a new McCarthyism in that sense. Don't agree with the president? Racist!

Thirdly and finally: That there are REAL examples of obvious racism in some anti-Obama sentiment does not indicate that all (or even most) opposition is motivated by racism. Those who think so have some growing up to do, IMO. That said, those who oppose him, support Republican ideas and politicians, et cetera, should be more vocal in calling out those on their "own side" who are clearly crossing the line from ideas to racism. This is not very different, IMO, than many conservative calls for "peaceful/moderate Muslims" to call out the radical terrorists giving their faith a bad name. If they have a duty to call out their radical, hateful extremes, so do the conservatives opposed to this president's agenda.

I have no idea if its more acceptable to call out white racists instead of black ones. But either way, racists are racists and should be called out for it.

This.

The charge of racism is a political weapon used to silence dissenting view. In 2010, Mary Frances Berry admitted as such when she wrote,

Tainting the tea party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats. There is no evidence that tea party adherents are any more racist than other Republicans, and indeed many other Americans. But getting them to spend their time purging their ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November. Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.

Racism is the new, "unpatriotic".

When I called out the bush administration for doing stupid stuff I was told, "IT'S A TIME OF WAR! TO BE CRITICAL OF THE PRESIDENT IN A TIME OF WAR IS UNPATRIOTIC!"

Now when I criticize the president there's are question asked if I'd be asking the same questions if the president wasn't black.

Both were ways for the die hards to shut people up.

Just tell me I'm not supposed to pretend like the GOP doesn't pander to these racists by flat out ignoring their minority constituency and that's one of the reasons they lost big this election.

Mike Huckabee realizes this.

“I think Republicans have done a pathetic job of reaching out to people of color,"

(and it should also be noted that it's guys like Huckabee that can turn this ship around for the GOP if they want any hope of winning elections in the future)

Huckabee was all-in with the GOP strategy, so he's got some accountability. If he wants some credibility he needs to get off FoxBabeNews and walk the talk.

Well it's shameful. But we all know when people become angry and frustrated, they call all sorts of names. They also shoot at people or want to get rid of them any way possible. I'm sure that there will be many more attempts on the POTUS and VP in this next year; hopefully the SS stays on their toes.
